Villain's Second Heart: Trapped in A Fantasy Novel (BL)-Chapter 95: Night on the Town 1
The next morning came slowly and lazily, soft sunlight bleeding orange across the tiled roof and warming the air in their room. It brightened their home long before they found their way out of bed, wrapped up around each other from the night before. While they didn’t have sex again that evening, there was still plenty of fun to be had before they passed out - they took their time finishing each other off with just their mouths.
Oberyn was the first to stir, groggy and warm beneath the blankets, his arms still wrapped lazily around Ezra’s bare torso. He blinked, sleep-drunk, until he realized Ezra was already watching him.
"Creep," Oberyn muttered playfully.
Ezra leaned in and kissed his nose. "You’re cute when you sleep. A perfect little fairy. All sassy, even when you’re drooling on your pillow."
"I’ll sass your pillow," Oberyn grumbled, already climbing halfway on top of him. Their lips met - first a soft, slow kiss, then another, deeper, with a smirk in between.
"We should get up," Ezra murmured.
"Mmm. You first."
Eventually, they did manage to get dressed - Ezra buttoning up Oberyn’s shirt halfway before getting distracted and kissing his neck again. Oberyn retaliated by stealing one of Ezra’s socks and hiding it behind the dresser. It was that kind of morning.
But when they stepped out into the main hall, the mood shifted.
Rav was already there, his tail flicking with impatience, and Deek stood beside him - arms crossed, fuming.
"Ah, there they are!" Rav said, dramatically throwing his arms toward the couple. "The lovebirds return. And just in time to break a small Ferin’s heart."
Ezra froze. "Wait, you told her already?"
"No, no," Rav said with a wicked grin. "I figured I’d let you two do it. A bonding exercise in disappointment. I just flew her in not five minutes ago, so she’s not had a chance to stew."
"I’m RIGHT here, Mr. Rav!"
He pushed Deek forward. She stared them both down like they’d just kicked her boomerang off a cliff - a wariness that was hard to encapsulate.
"Explain," Rav said, pointing his fan dismissively between the two lovers. "Tell my poor student why she can’t go kill the mean scary thorn lady."
Oberyn cleared his throat. "So, uh... about the Hollow Forest..."
"It’s complicated," Ezra added quickly.
"Apparently I can’t go," Deek huffed. "Even though I’m the strongest Ferin under thirty this side of the mountain. Well...besides Mr. Rav."
"It’s not about your strength," Ezra said, trying to find the words. "It’s... political. Rav says Ferin don’t enter Dark Elf territory. It’s, like... a whole thing."
"A ’thing’?" Deek repeated, eyebrows lifting. "You’re ditching me because of a ’thing’!?"
"I knew they’d mess it up," Rav muttered to himself.
The irony, of course, was that Rav is the one who informed them of the rule.
He spoke louder: "What my delightful companions are trying to say, Deek, is that the Hollow Forest belongs to the Dark Elves. Ferin don’t go there. Not unless they want to break ancient treaties and stir up generations of respectful distance."
Deek narrowed her eyes. "You’ve been there."
"I’m the Sage of Clouds," Rav said, placing a hand dramatically over his chest. "I transcend boundaries. But you? You’re still my little student."
"Ugh," Deek groaned.
"Sorry, Deek - Ferin rules. You can’t go breaking with traditions now, can you?"
Deek stomped her feet and got ready to speak.
"But!" Rav interrupted before the tantrum could begin. "Your mission is not over. I am appointing you as official guardian of the pagoda. Come water the plants. Feed my cat. Annoy the neighbors. That sort of thing."
"Neighbors?" Oberyn said, tilting his head.
Deek perked up slightly. "Fine! But I want a souvenir from the northern country! And PROMISE we can go after the Magician of Thorns when you all return, huh!?"
"You’ll get more than that," Rav winked. "In fact, I declare today a holiday. Before we begin our dark and dreadful mission tomorrow, we will indulge in the sweet, sparkling sins of town. We’re going to the Ferin Village, everyone!"
Oberyn blinked. "Seriously?"
Ezra glanced at him. "Like, a real night out?"
"Night. Out. On the town." Rav was already halfway to his room. "We leave in two hours. Wear something scandalous. Or don’t. Either way, we’re making memories."
Deek gasped. "Wait - I can still go?"
"You can come," Rav called over his shoulder. "But no drinking, no gambling, and no setting anything on fire without my express permission. And come right back to the pagoda tomorrow, I’ll hear no arguments!
"I NEVER set things on fire accidentally!"
"Exactly," Rav said with a grin.
Ezra looked over at Oberyn and smiled, a little warmth blooming in his chest despite everything. "So much for hunting that Magician of Thorns I guess. But by the time we’re back from the north, I bet we’ll be way stronger than she is."
"I could only hope so," Oberyn said with a hesitant smile. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
They gathered up their things - everything they’d need for a night out, as well as their supplies for tomorrow. In the morning, they’d be leaving directly from the Ferin Village, as per Rav’s explicit instructions. But at least that night, they’d be able to kick back and have a little fun.
Not that Ezra was excited about the prospect. He was never much of a ’partier’, and he couldn’t imagine that Ferin parties would be much his style.
"This seems fun, huh?" Oberyn smiled, an extra bounce to his step.
"I take it you’re looking forward to the Ferin party?" Ezra said, a weak grin crossing his lips.
"It’s something new to see, of course.
Oberyn locked eyes with Ezra, his beautiful amber eyes sparkling in the daylight. Ezra pulled him in for a hug and ruffled the front of his hair. It was cute to see him so excited about something.
"Well, I might just hang out at the hotel. I’m not much of a partier," Ezra chuckled. "But I guess we’ll see, huh? A night out on the town awaits!"
