Void Cultivation-Chapter 178- The Foundation Establishment Realm (6)
The bright, illustrious figure drifted toward them with a calm, deathly stillness, so steady it felt wrong, unnatural, as if the world itself had lost the right to move before him. He didn’t spare a glance for the ruptured sky, the trembling earth, or the blinding radiance of God’s light still pouring down from above. Before this brilliant being, even that divine radiance dimmed like a candle before the sun.
As Grey watched this scene unfold, he felt as if loud booming sounds were erupting in his head. It was like several mountains were crashing in his mind. His entire body was so shaken to the core that he couldn’t even move. He could only stand in place and shiver. Grey’s siblings were not doing any better.
Grey’s sister, was shaking and shuddering intensely. Her face was pale and filled with both awe and fear. His brother on the other hand looked to be in a dazed state. Since he was a cultivator, he could feel the more intense tremors that went through the earth more than the rest of them. And through those tremors, he knew that the earth itself shuddered as if it was in fear. Just that sight alone made his expression turn grim.
The figure walked towards them in a steady and calm manner, but with the shock and fear in their minds, they watched him walk towards them like an emperor of the sun.
When the figure had walked some distance into the air and was standing some distance above them, he opened his fist only to clench it once again.
The moment that happened, all three of them were grabbed and sent flying towards the spatial crack in the sky. The figure looked at this calmly before swiftly walking into the spatial crack as well. His expression all through had not changed, not even once.
Inside the crack, Grey felt his mind begin to shake and tremble, yet he couldn’t find out the reason why it was trembling. An unknown period of time passed and Grey fell unconscious.
This state of unconsciousness continued for an unknown period of time as well until Grey heard a soft voice call out to him. That soft voice was vague and seemed like it was going away. As the soft voice echoed in his ears, Grey knew who that voice belonged to. It was his sister who had been sucked into the spatial crack with him.
Her voice sounded like the dimming of a bright star. "Grey... Grey... Please come and save us..." Her words echoed through Grey’s mind and pulled at his heartstrings. In his subconscious, that voice sounded like the forgotten whispers of a bad dream, but the moment he woke up, he saw that he was floating in an endless void that was completely black and without any source of light.
As he regained consciousness, Grey found out that his Grey hair had turned black, with the tips of his hair dyed yellow. If Grey could see his full appearance now, he would be shocked to find out that his eyes were pitch black, and the pupils of his eyes were glowing an eerie yellow. But all of this did not seem to faze Grey as he let out a low sigh.
That sight echoed through the black void. If one were to hear it right now, they would think that the sigh came from an ancient being that had lived through time itself. As the sigh rang through the void, Grey said slowly. "Now I... Understand what all of this is." Grey started. "This is the first contradiction of my true self. I can also say that this is the first time that my past self will try to contradict my path of cultivation." As soon as Grey finished talking, the endless, black void suddenly disappeared like a puff of smoke.
Slowly, Grey opened his eyes and saw the red robes Roxanne sitting in front of him. His expression remained calm and his eyes were as still as a tranquil lake.
"So... This was my first contradiction. If I had given a wrong response, I would have failed and breaking future perforations would be extremely hard. Actually... I might not have failed if I had given a wrong response, instead, I would have failed if I had not calmed the fluctuations in my heart." Grey said with a wry smile on his face.
The only reason why he managed to see through this contradiction was due to his memories. When the Foundation Establishment expert was possessing his soul, Grey had watched these same scenes unfold, and but happened was not truly the same.
Number one, the figure in all colors and none did not come out from the spatial crack, instead, he had appeared as if he had existed within the world from the very beginning. The spatial crack only appeared when he swiped his hand. Later on, Grey’s siblings were lifted up and taken away into the spatial crack. The brilliant figure wearing all the colors and none at the same time then gave Grey a strange look and waved his hands. After that happened, Grey lost all his memories because they had been shattered and erased.
The reason why the scenes in his dream changed was because they were influenced by the emotions in his heart. Maybe his sister never received a bracelet from his brother, maybe his brother had never been a cultivator at the Shadow sect. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
But in his dream, they happened because that was what Grey wanted in his heart. He never really did have any recollection of his siblings and his parents. So his subconsciousness and his heart created fake ones and patched them in the places that had holes in them.
The reason why Grey was able to know that this was a contradiction was because he felt that he could influence what would happen next.
So he made the next scene where he was also taken away by the brilliant figure. But after that, they was a period of silence and a void feeling because Grey did not know what would happen next. So then he made his sister’s voice echo in his ears.
"If I had not controlled the fluctuations in my heart, then eventually, that contradiction would take root in my heart and inhibit my cultivation. No other contradiction would happen then because by then, I would have already fallen for the first one and yet I wouldn’t know. My cultivation path would’ve been crippled before it even started." Grey spoke very softly.
He then closed his eyes and sent his consciousness into his body. Inside his body, he resumed searching for spirit nodes. Grey found two nodes and attacked them at once. Two muffled bangs rang out in his body. Grey filled those nodes with his spirit energy and they became his spirit perforation.
Soon after, Grey found another node and attacked it again. He found the seventh node, eight node, ninth node... Grey found the location of his tenth node. The Tenth node was in the back of his neck. Without hesitation, Grey attacked it and it let out a muffled boom. And after filling that node with spirit energy, it became his tenth spirit perforation.
The moment his tenth spirit perforation formed, a tremendous surge of spirit power erupted from all ten perforations at once, synchronizing like a single heartbeat. The power coursed through him, vibrant and overflowing.
Soon, Grey felt a small power awakening inside of him. A brilliant light appeared from the tenth spirit perforation in his body as it gradually grew bigger and brighter.
Then something stirred.
A small, brilliant light ignited within the tenth perforation, faint at first, then growing steadily, expanding, brightening, burning.
Until it became a small, pure ball of Spirit Fire.
Grey had manifested his first Spirit Fire.
