Void Cultivation-Chapter 230- Fishing for Foundation Establishment (4)
A deafening boom suddenly resounded.
The pitch-black waters were violently tossed as shockwaves spread outward. Nearby sea creatures were blasted away like debris caught in a storm, their bodies tumbling uncontrollably through the sea. Grey was not spared either, his figure was flung backward with tremendous force.
His body smashed against the water’s surface before he was driven deep beneath the waves.
As for the Mosasaur, after its violent clash with Grey, its massive body fell back into the sea as well. However, a low, suppressed grunt of pain echoed from its throat, vibrating through the water.
The Mosasaur quickly stabilized itself and lifted its enormous head, its cold, vertical pupils locking onto Grey with a menacing glare filled with savage intent.
A moment later, it surged forward.
Its massive tail and powerful flippers slammed against the water, propelling its gigantic body forward at terrifying speed. The surrounding sea churned violently as it closed the distance in an instant.
When Grey opened his eyes through the pain, he immediately felt a suffocating sense of danger. A murderous gaze locked onto him.
Before he could fully react, the Mosasaur was already upon him, its enormous jaws opened wide. Rows of sharp teeth glinted faintly in the darkness as it lunged forward, aiming to swallow him whole.
Grey’s pupils shrank.
Without hesitation, he activated his speed and retreated rapidly through the black sea. A muffled boom echoed through the depths as the Mosasaur’s jaws snapped shut just inches from where he had been.
Ever since becoming the Scion of the Wind Monarch, speed had always been one of Grey’s greatest strengths.
He was faster than most Foundation Establishment cultivators, and even those with higher cultivation realms often found it difficult to keep up with him. Even beasts possessing special physiques were not necessarily faster than him.
Yet this was the first time Grey had been forced to unleash his extreme speed simply to escape from another Foundation Establishment realm existence.
The Mosasaur was terrifyingly fast.
Its ferocity was enough to shake a person’s heart. If it were anyone else, they would have already been torn apart by now.
With a flash of purple light, Grey formed a hand seal. In the next instant, a long saber appeared in his grasp.
The saber looked distorted, as if it were half-real and half-illusory, and its presence caused the surrounding environment to grow faintly cold. A subtle chill spread through the water as purple flames flickered faintly along its blade.
After comprehending the Life Demon Art, Grey had discovered that he could manifest weapons as well.
The Life Demon itself was a manifestation, yet it existed as a phantom. This saber, however, was a true weapon formed from condensed demonic essence.
The moment the saber appeared, a sharp glint flashed through Grey’s eyes. Without hesitation, he slashed forward.
A long gash tore open along the Mosasaur’s massive body.
However, instead of pain or hesitation, the creature’s madness only intensified. Its aura surged violently as ferocity flooded its eyes, as if the scent of its own blood had driven it into an even more unrestrained frenzy.
In the blink of an eye, they clashed once more.
The sea waters churned violently as Grey was blasted out of the depths, his figure shooting upward and breaking through the surface. His face was slightly pale, yet the sharpor-sharp glint in his eyes never faded.
He looked as if he were waiting for something.
Several moments later, a piercing cry of pain erupted from beneath the sea. The Mosasaur burst out of the water once again, its massive body twisting in the air. Its eyes were bloodshot, madness and pain intertwining within them.
The area where Grey’s saber had struck was rotting at a terrifying pace. The flesh corroded rapidly as black blood seeped out.
Yet because the sea itself was pitch black, the spreading blood was difficult to notice.
Naturally, the Mosasaur had been poisoned.
When Grey had first arrived at the bay, it had appeared as though he were merely using his divine sense to scan the waters. In truth, he had already silently spread poison throughout the entire bay.
Later, when the Mosasaur appeared, Grey flew into the sky and observed it. He was not simply trying to identify the creature, he was testing whether his poison would have any effect on it.
The moment he confirmed it was a Mosasaur, his eyes narrowed and killing intent flashed through them.
Even so, he still chose to fight.
He was certain that if he killed this beast and refined its life force, it would allow him to open additional spirit perforations.
The Mosasaur’s scales were extremely tough, nearly impossible to break with ordinary weapons or spells. Most poisons were also ineffective, as it dwelled within the Dead Sea and had been tempered countless times by its environment.
However, after repeated experimentation, Grey discovered something crucial.
His poison became far more effective once it came into direct contact with flesh and blood.
As the Mosasaur leaped into the air once more, Grey slashed several times with the saber in his hand. Sparks and violent ripples erupted as the blade struck its scales, yet only a few slashes managed to pierce through.
Grey was not discouraged.
He released the technique maintaining the saber and slowly raised his right hand. A domineering purple aura began to gather around it, pulsing with an eerie, mysterious power.
The moment the aura stabilized, a faint purple sword appeared in his hand.
This sword was completely different from the saber. It was illusory, as if it did not truly exist, and yet its presence felt far more dangerous.
The purple saber had been formed from the flames of the Life Demon Art.
This sword, however, was something else entirely.
The moment it appeared, a massive purple sword materialized above Grey’s head. It was long, enormous, and exuded an ancient, unfathomable aura, as though it belonged to a being far beyond the mortal realm.
From afar, Grey looked as though he were guiding the massive sword above him.
Yet at the same time, it felt as though the sword itself was commanding his movements.
The scene made him resemble a young master walking the path of an ancient Emperor.
When the giant sword fully solidified, Grey slashed downward.
Only one slash.
Yet that single slash carried the might to sever the heavens and split the earth.
The Mosasaur was struck head-on by the descending purple sword.
Its massive body trembled violently as the slash carved through its form. Dark blood sprayed outward, immediately dissolving into the black sea water. Yet despite the grievous injury, unwillingness surged within its eyes.
Even though poison coursed through its body, even though its flesh was riddled with countless saber and sword wounds, it did not retreat.
Instead, the Mosasaur roared.
That roar was filled with defiance and madness. It abandoned all thoughts of defense and, in that instant, unleashed its own ultimate move.
Suddenly, the black sea below surged violently.
The water rose as if responding to an unseen command, climbing higher and higher until a colossal wall of sea water formed. The Great Wall of water loomed like a curtain separating heaven and earth, blotting out everything behind it.
Within the wall of water, something moved.
At first, it was only a vague shadow. Then, as the water parted, the figure within slowly revealed itself.
It was a fish.
Its body was ancient and grotesque, far larger than ordinary sea creatures. From its sides protruded seventeen massive bone spikes, each one jagged and uneven, as though grown naturally rather than forged.
The moment those bone spikes were revealed, a shocking aura burst forth.
Divinity.
Each spike radiated a faint yet unmistakable presence of divine power. Though incomplete and fragmented, that aura alone was enough to make the sea tremble and the heavens respond.
The fish slowly opened its mouth.
Bubbles drifted outward, rising silently through the sea and into the air. What lay hidden within those bubbles could not be seen clearly, yet as they spread, agonized cries echoed through the surroundings.
They were the cries of countless sea beasts.
Wails of suffering, despair, and fear reverberated from the fish’s body and spread throughout the world, as if the souls of innumerable creatures were sealed within it.
At the same time, a dense corrosive substance poured from the fish’s mouth.
This corrosive force was terrifyingly potent, yet it was completely different from the substance formed when God’s Hand had descended before. This corrosion did not originate from an external power, it was born from the fish itself.
It was its innate authority.
With the arrival of this fish, the world itself seemed to respond.
The sea shook violently, and the sky above darkened further. Thick clouds rolled in from all directions, growing so dense that they completely blotted out the sun. The light of day vanished, leaving only oppressive darkness behind.
Far away, aboard the magic ship, the captain, who had been sitting cross-legged inside her cabin, suddenly opened her eyes.
Shock and disbelief flashed across her face as she turned to stare in the direction of Grey and the Mosasaur.
In the next instant, her body blurred.
She vanished from her cabin and appeared directly on the deck of the magic ship. The astonishment on her face deepened as she felt the terrifying fluctuations in the distance.
Yet instead of fear... or reverence...
A strange glint appeared in her eyes.
If Grey were present, he would immediately recognize that glint.
Madness.
And intense desire.
Such emotions had never appeared on the captain’s face before. Not once.
It was only after the appearance of that fish that these feelings finally surfaced.
"A faint comprehension of a Divine being..." the captain muttered softly, her voice trembling with excitement. "This Mosasaur is certainly not ordinary."
Her gaze sharpened as she sensed the connection between the beast and the manifestation.
"Moreover, it seems it was blessed by that fish some time ago. It can now manifest a trace of its power. Even if it’s only a trace..."
She inhaled deeply, her pupils dilating. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"...that is still astonishing."
She licked her lips unconsciously and swallowed, her expression growing increasingly unrestrained.
"I cannot allow little Grey to enjoy such a delicious meal all by himself."
The next moment, she stepped forward.
Her figure left the deck of the magic ship and shot into the sky, tearing through the clouds as she flew toward Grey’s direction. Her body cut through the heavens like a blazing arc, leaving nothing but distorted air in her wake.
