Vows and Bullets-Chapter 84: Going Home Again (Part 1)
***
[The following day...]
Eun-Woo and I agreed to stay in my mother’s home for a whole week, so I could spend more time with her and visit Yoon-Ah as I pleased.
Since we just caught a mole in our house, we also took the chance to do some "cleaning" out of every servant, bodyguard, and personnel that were currently serving there. Eun-Woo returned all of his father’s people, saying I wasn’t comfortable with them and preferred our old servants who were his people—something which, of course, never happened. It was just a story we made up so his dad wouldn’t feel too bad after we returned them all.
Before leaving, Eun-Woo entrusted the mansion to his closest and most trusted aide and tasked him with a full house cleaning. Not only people but the mansion itself—every nook and cranny of it—to ensure no bugs were planted anywhere and for security to be Mythos-tight.
And so, thanks to all those things happening, we left with just the two of us and a few bodyguards who would guard us at a distance. Even those bodyguards were already replaced with Eun-Woo’s people. He truly works fast.
The only bummer thing that happened so far was that I couldn’t drive my new car—Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut—as fast as I wanted. Well, I guess this was fine. At least he let me drive until we finally reached our home.
"Woah! What happened here?" I asked as soon as I stepped out of the car.
The whole neighborhood was turned into a construction site! The neighbor’s houses weren’t there anymore, the old park with rusty metals was replaced with something new, the dying trees were now lively and beautiful, surrounding the whole park, and there were a lot of different establishments and other things I still wasn’t sure what, being built around.
I saw it while I was still inside the car and thought I had somehow driven to a different place, but our house was there, and my mother was outside waving at us.
"Eomma!" I greeted her as I sprinted toward her and hugged her. "How have you been? Are you okay? It’s a mess here. What’s with the construction site? Can you sleep at night with all this noise?"
"Aigoo, I’m fine. They don’t work at night—only during the day, and they do their best not to be too noisy," she explained to me as she hugged me back. "Seriously, this daughter of mine. You haven’t seen me in a little while, and the first thing you do is bombard me with questions."
"Oh, sorry about that. I was... surprised."
"Ha-ha-ha," Eun-Woo laughed from behind me. "Don’t tell me you have forgotten?"
"Huh? Forgotten what?"
When I said that, my mother spanked my back.
"Aigoo! This is your husband’s wedding gift to you, and you forgot? You are the one who caused all this! I should be complaining to you, huh?"
"Huh? What did I—"
It was only then that I remembered it.
"Oh my goodness!" I blurted out in surprise. Quickly, I turned to Eun-Woo with my mouth wide open. "Y-You seriously did it?! Father-in-law... h-he approved of this? You shouldn’t have—I mean, thank you, but this is too much. Why did you—"
"It has already started. There’s no going back now," Eun-Woo teased. "Why don’t we all go inside and talk about other things?"
"Yes, we should," mother agreed. "Come in, my son-in-law! Welcome to our humble home once again. I missed you two. How have you been? Did you enjoy your honeymoon?"
"Yes, mother. It was a lot of fun," Eun-Woo replied with a smile on his face. "Next time, why don’t you come with us?"
"This mother is old. I don’t have the same energy as you young people to go and travel to different places."
"Who said you look old? Certainly, I thought you were Ye-Ji’ya’s elder sister or aunt when I first saw you."
"Aigoo, this child. Don’t lie to me."
"But it’s true. You look a lot younger than your age. Maybe that’s why..."
And so, they already started chatting while I was still shocked about everything.
Anyway, we soon were all inside the house and bonded until noon. Eun-Woo said he missed my mother’s cooking, so my mother cooked a lot for him during lunch. He helped her prepare the ingredients while I got called out for not offering to help. He then sneaked a smirk on his lips when he heard me being reprimanded. Tsk! Did he think I wouldn’t see that? He really likes pissing me off.
While eating lunch, mother pestered me again with her usual question...
"So, when should I expect a grandchild?"
My eyes rolled on their own the moment I heard that.
"Eomma, stop asking that."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. This cold daughter of mine," she sighed. Ignoring me, he turned to Eun-Woo instead and asked him, "Did you try lots during your honeymoon?"
Eun-Woo laughed, and I slapped my face in embarrassment.
"Yes, mother, we did. Don’t worry. You will be the first one to know when Ye-Ji’ya gets pregnant."
What a master liar. If I were to rate his lying skills, it would be over a thousand percent! How dare he say that to my mother?! How shameless! We shouldn’t be discussing marital affairs with her, right? Especially in THAT area? Besides, we didn’t do it!
I wanted to refute him so badly, but then, a glimpse of what happened yesterday in our bedroom replayed itself in my mind. It was then followed by the scene in the private jet when we were on the way to Eun-Woo’s private island and the scene in our bedroom there. Those were really... dangerous scenarios.
"Ye-Ji’ya, are you okay?" mother suddenly asked. "Your face is red. Are you feeling sick?"
"What? No. I’m okay," I answered, dumbfounded by the question.
"Oh, I see. Then, you must be remembering some naughty moments, huh?" she giggled. "Ha-ha-ha. My daughter is all grown up now."
"W-What? No, I didn’t!"
"Aigoo. You can’t fool this mother of yours."
"I really didn’t!"
But then, I sucked at lying. It was probably painted on my whole face. Ugh... why did I suddenly have to remember that? Look at how Eun-Woo was grinning from ear to ear.
