VRMMO: World's First Glyphborne-Chapter 71: The Right Race
"A Race Change Item? I didn’t even know those existed? What does it change you to? Is it something good?"
Vestra bounced with excitement, latching onto Figg’s outstretched arm as she looked between the shocked druid and the object held in his hand. At the realisation at what he had in his possession, all of the exhaustion and fatigue had been completely banished from his body, which turned completely stiff.
He could barely breath as he stared at the screen in front of him. His eyes darted across the information presented to him, as he read it multiple times in complete disbelief.
It was only when Belladonna strutted over and gave him a light punch in the arm, did he finally snap out of his stupor and answer the barrage of questions that had been sent his way.
"N-neither did I... People speculated on the forums, but we didn’t know if it was true or how one would get it. I’m still not even sure how I got it... But here it is.
Oh uh... It says it will turn me into a World-kin. Something called a Nature’s Guardian. It sounds... it sounds really good. I’m not sure of the purity of it but it says it’s a unique race. That’s one of the high ones, right?"
"Oh Definitely." Belladonna quickly responded as Beans meowed in confirmation on her shoulder. Her own race was a Unique race, and she knew first hand how absolutely broken some of its traits were, even at the lower levels.
Even if Figg didn’t get something as broken, she had no doubt that he would not regret changing to that race. Especially since all he was now was the most basic human.
"If you took it, I promise you it will be something good. It sounds like it will work really well with your class too, which could make it even better. That might be why you got it in the first place.
Then again... If you sold it, especially for real money. you could probably get hundreds of thousands for it. I know that some people will pay anything they can for anything unique."
Figg gulped softly at her suggestion and nodded to himself. He had spent plenty of time on the forums and had seen posts about it. One person had been offering nearly a hundred thousand to anyone who got any kind of Unique race.
That was before they realised you couldn’t transfer accounts, of course. You could delete your character and make a new one, but you could only have one at a time and it was yours forever.
But this was an item... and items could definitely be sold and transferred. As he thought of all the money he could get for it, and all the different bills and debts he could pay off with that money, the little orb in his hand suddenly felt incredibly heavy.
However, he couldn’t help but think back to the message he had received when he found the orb in the first place. With a sad smile, he laughed softly before the Amber orb dissolved into a golden liquid that was rapidly absorbed into his hand, along with the blood contained within. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦
A wave of pain erupted through his body, but it was quickly replaced by a feeling of relief and belonging, as the sweet smell of freshly blooming flowers filled his nostrils and overpowered the rest of his senses.
There wasn’t a drastic change to his appearance, despite the prospect of changing races, as all of the changes were happening deep inside of his body. His blood was replaced with a viscous crimson sap while his heart hardened into the same crystalline core that Fahven Bu’ul had once had.
Two wooden stems burst through his forehead, as the branches quickly grew into a pair of antlers that curled backwards, almost looking like a small crown made of wood. The final transformation came as his eyes and hair turned from their standard brown, to a vibrant green like grass after rain.
"Welcome back to the World, Nature Guardian." Belladonna teased with a smirk, nudging his arm while Vestra bounced excitedly.
"Heh, Thanks. This feels... Weird, and yet right at the same time. Does that make sense?" He ask as he flexed his fingers, getting a feel for the strange changes in his body.
"Do you two want to go for another run? I want to get a feel for my new race, test if anything else has changed before I move on."
"I’d be done for it! What about you Bell?" Vestra asked with a wide smile.
"I can’t," Belladonna answered with a shake of her head, "I promised I would do this quickly and then meet up with my brother. He’s probably impatiently texting me right now."
The other two deflated slightly at the answer, but nodded their heads in understanding. Since they were parting ways already, they split up the loot. With Figg taking the Staff and the Gauntlets, Vestra taking the Wand and the Cloak, whilst Belladonna took the scroll and herbs.
As for the money, it was split evenly between them all for a share of 20 Regil and 50 Solis each, as most of it was silver coins.
Then, they said their goodbyes and parted ways, promising to reconnect later. Belladonna watched them leave the way they came with a sad smile, before she turned on her heels and headed over to Fahven Bu’uls throne.
The massive stone structure had blocked the sight of a wooden archway on the far wall, by slotting the token into one of the legs of the stone arch way, it flared to life as a portal manifested within its arch.
Belladonna double checked the location Jason had sent her during her run of the dungeon, as well as saw the multiple impatient messages. After a quick response, she stepped through the portal and quickly selected her destination.
When she next opened her eyes, she was standing in the middle of a vast stone square within the cities marketplace. The sounds of the city immediately assaulted her, but she quickly grew used to it and focused on the Scrying skull in her hands.
After a few minutes of standing around, waiting for her brother, she finally received another reply telling her that he was here.
She quickly looked up, glancing around until she noticed a pair striding straight towards her. A pair that consisted of a towering muscular Hellion in heavy plate armour - that was specifically tailored to show off their abs as well as their bulging arms - and a petite, adorable healer in clerical robes who had a pair of fluffy white ears sprouting from their head while a fluffy tail swished behind them happily.
At the sight of the pair approaching her, Belladonna’s excited smile quickly fell from her face.
’Oh god... He didn’t...’
