Chapter 238 Fast Landing At Trunel Woods And Missing Sword

Arthur surfed down the mountain on Bramble's back finding it amazing and thrilling to do so.

Of course there were many bumps along the way, but they were easily handled by the body of Brambles. There were some pieces of rocks and debris that were knocked towards Arthur due to the forward slide, but were easily blocked by the two carapace wings.

The Carapace Wings acted as an extra shield for Arthur and even helped blocked some of the strong winds.

But after they were halfway down, Arthur noticed something large approaching.

"We got a large boulder in our way Brambles, do just like I told you." Arthur spoke to the beetle.

"KI!" The Beetle responded with a shrill chitter.

They continued to slide and had a boulder that was nearly 6 meters tall in their way. They couldn't really change their direction as there were ridges on both sides, preventing them from going to other directions.

The boulder in question was jutting out of the mountain side and was probably exposed due to natural erosion over years.

Soon Arthur and Brambles were just a couple of meters from the boulder and were about to hit it.

"NOW!" Arthur shouted.

"KIIIIIII!" Brambles let out a cry and activated one of its skills.

>Dragon Horn Beetle has activated Carapace Shield!<

Brambles body lightly glowed and the faint shimmer of mana could be seen just before they hit the boulder.

~Crack~

The Beetles great horn struck the boulder first, cracking it.

~SHATTER~

Just as Arthur had predicted the boulder shattered under the momentum of Brambles!

Brambles's tough horn and body allowed them to come out unscathed when combined with the skill.

>5% MP has been consumed<

"Even with such an impact it was just 5%. This can be used even more." Arthur muttered to himself.

The Carapace Shield Skill allowed Brambles to defend against damage and was quite strong. Of course it came at the expensive of becoming immobile. But when the beetle's body was already in motion and not due to its limbs or wings, it didn't matter if he became immobile.

The collision slowed down their descent by a bit, but they soon gained momentum again as they continued to slide down.

"Just a bit more and we'll be at the base." Arthur eyed the trees that were quickly approaching.

With how they were going, there was no need for breaking either as the Trees will be doing that for them.

~CRASH~ 𝘣𝘦𝘥𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝑚

Brambles' body created a gully in the softer ground and crashed into tens of trees that were in their way. The trees broke apart, with the smaller ones directly turning to smithereens.

The beetle's horn was no joke.

If it could do this to solid wood and rock, it could devastate flesh and bone.

~CHIRP~CHIRP~CHIRP~

The loud crash also scared away a lot of the birds that were in the forest and let out a scared cry.

~huu~

"That was fun," Arthur let out a breath and got down from Brambles' back.

"KIKI!" The beetle let out a sound of approval. "Kuku?" it then asked something.

"You wanna do it again?" Arthur raised his brows. "Perhaps in the future. We'll have plenty of mountains to climb anyway… plus we have a rather Icy mountain to traverse later." He was going to head to the Oxal Mountains after all.

"KIHI!" The beetle replied in affirmation and said that it would look forward to it.

Now that they were in the forest, their path back would be a bit easier.

Instead of taking several hours to get down from the mountain, Arthur had managed to get down within minutes.

"Let's go Brambles." Arthur waved to the beast and took the lead.

The two traveled in the direction of the town and soon came across a clearing. There were several scorch marks and burned trees around. But there was a strange spot in the middle that was left completely barren.

Reaching this area, Arthur came to a halt.

"Hang on a second… isn't this?" Arthur looked around the area and matched it with the place that the unknown silver eyed Mage and the Night Slayer had fought.

"Yeah… this is the same area. But why is it like this now?" Arthur couldn't figure it out.

As far as he could recall, the area was burned but there were still plants, grass and trees here. But now it looked completely barren, as if nothing had ever grown here.

'No wait, the sword of Night Slayer…' Arthur recalled that the broken great sword that had been lost by the Night Slayer during the battle.

Arthur couldn't see it here at first thus wondered if he was mistaken.

"No, I'm sure the Cursed Blade of Valkor landed here." Arthur even found the hole in the ground that was left by the blade. 'Did someone take it?' he wondered.

Considering the change in the area, Arthur thought it was likely.

'If so, then there is only one person who could do that… that Silver Eyed Mage.' Arthur reckoned.

As much as he would have wanted to take the blade, he knew there was no way to do so now. Even the body of the Night Slayer was nowhere to be seen, making Arthur think that it was either taken away too, or thoroughly erased.

~sigh~

"Can't get everything after all… it was dangerous anyways." Arthur shook his head. "Let's continue Brambles." He said before walking again.

The duo of Master and beast Traveled for hours through the Trunel Woods. Arthur was already accustomed to this place and as such had no issues traversing it. Plus with his night vision, it was no different from day time.

It had become dark at around 6 PM and as such, the nocturnal beasts had started to come out. During their travel, they encountered a few such beasts, but with Arthur and Brambles' strength, they were a piece of cake.

"Haha, getting the cape was a godsend, I got more loot to sell!" Arthur rejoined as he stored the corpses of a few Bone Blade Beasts.
