Walker Of The Worlds-Chapter 2858: A Few Years Pass
(pls read the Author note at the bottom (┬┬﹏┬┬))
Lin Mu, unaware of the changing currents in the darkness of the Silent Lotus World, continued to spend his time in the Green Lotus Temple peacefully.
He had no idea that there were already people aware of him—aware of the potential he held—and that they wished to make use of him.
For him, the days in the Green Lotus Temple were some of the best days of his life, ones he would remember forever.
His days passed quickly, as months went by without any significant change. His cultivation base grew, and his techniques improved steadily. The monks benefited from him too, and were steadily growing in strength.
Lin Mu was giving them the necessary experience they had lacked and soon grew into a figure they looked up to.
Meng Bai also grew strong steadily, his progress a breeze under the rich resources and optimal conditions he was provided.
If not for his cultivation base being the limiting factor, he could have learned even more. But his age was still an issue, so he waited patiently.
That didn't mean he didn't improve, though.
His formation skills grew greatly, and so did his spear techniques. His water proficiency also deepened, and he could now actually match up to someone in the Dao Shell realm when it came to pure water-based abilities.
The beasts also made steady—though slow—progress, improving bit by bit.
Just like this, a few years passed…
"Master! Master!"
A fanatic voice rang out as Meng Bai burst through the door.
Lin Mu, who was calmly cultivating within his room, opened his eyes.
"What is it?" he asked without getting up.
His beard had grown even longer now and reached all the way down to his chest.
"Message! A message has arrived!" Meng Bai said, his eyes gleaming with joy.
He, who had once been a youthful boy, had now grown into a young man. Standing at over six feet tall, he had long hair and a handsome face. If not for the lack of women in the temple, there might have been many who would have already fallen for him.
"A message? From whom?" Lin Mu asked, still seated with his eyes only half-open.
"Daoist Chu! It's Daoist Chu!" Meng Bai answered excitedly.
"Huh?" Lin Mu opened his eyes fully and stood up. "Show me!" he demanded.
"Here you go," Meng Bai said as he handed Lin Mu a rather thick scroll.
SHUA
Lin Mu unrolled it, and the scroll stretched out to nearly ten meters long!
Daoist Chu had written quite a detailed letter.
Lin Mu began to read, remembering his friend who had left a few years ago on a mission.
'How have you been, my friend? Though knowing you, I'm sure you're as good as ever—probably even stronger.'
Lin Mu chuckled.
'Meng Bai should've grown quite a bit now, right? I can't wait to take him out for that night I promised him.'
The second line made Lin Mu roll his eyes.
"Anyway… Looks like my time here might be a bit extended. There've been a few complications."
Lin Mu furrowed his brows as he continued to read.
Daoist Chu described his journey in detail, starting from the Immortal Court all the way to the world where the Thunderfall War Emperor once resided.
Their search for the supposedly dead emperor had been at a standstill. There were few to no clues about him even now.
Their hopes of finding him through his Soul Lamp had been dashed shortly after reaching the world. The lamp didn't react at all. They had searched the world far and wide, upturning the very earth itself to find any trace.
And yet, there were none.
It was as if the man had turned into thin air.
They also investigated the Thunderfall Empire and found several suspicious circumstances, but it wasn't enough for them to act on. All they were certain of was that the Thunderfall War Emperor had many enemies—even within his own empire.
There were conflicts between his children, and Daoist Chu's team suspected they might have been involved, possibly in collusion with some of the elders.
'They were seeking something the Thunderfall War Emperor had?'
Lin Mu narrowed his eyes. freewebnσvel.cѳm
Daoist Chu mentioned that a few of the remaining clues suggested many were after a mysterious treasure owned by the War Emperor.
It was unknown where he had obtained it, but it was valuable enough that there were traces suggesting the involvement of Celestials.
'More than one Celestial might be involved? Looks like this goes higher than we expected.'
Lin Mu had already assumed a Celestial might be behind the strange disappearance, but now it was confirmed—there were multiple.
The exact number was unknown, but even a single Celestial was troublesome, let alone two or more.
With how effectively the traces had been erased, Daoist Chu's team was left with no choice but to pause the investigation.
'The Western Immortal Court Head was upset… as expected.'
Lin Mu sighed.
The man did not take the lack of results calmly and went on a rampage, decimating several evil powers near the world they were investigating.
The head of the Western Immortal Court ended up doing more work than the Southern Immortal Court had done against evil cultivators in the last decade.
Thankfully, no one took it the wrong way. They considered it just a venting of frustration. Besides, it worked in favor of the Southern Immortal Court too.
Aside from the investigation, Daoist Chu had written extensively about his day-to-day life and what such long-term missions were like.
Lin Mu was intrigued and continued reading for two hours.
The ten-meter-long scroll turned out to be far more packed than expected. As he reached the end, the text changed, revealing even more information.
It was enchanted to act like a book, shifting its pages magically as Lin Mu read.
He went through nearly a hundred such 'pages,' realizing just how much time Daoist Chu had taken to compile this letter.
It was a rare and personal window into the life of a friend who had chosen a very different path—and a reminder that the peace he currently enjoyed might not last forever.
