Warm Married Life: Mr. President Loves His Darling Wife-Chapter 173 - 172: Are You Spying on Me?
Bella hooked her arm through hers and asked softly, "Ms. Cheney, did you have an argument with Director Ford?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Because it seems like you don’t really want to talk to Director Ford."
"That’s not the case. Kids shouldn’t jump to conclusions." Sharon avoided eye contact and changed the subject, "There’s still some time left, you should go take a rest, even just closing your eyes to recharge will be good, don’t let fatigue affect tonight’s shoot."
"Alright." Bella pouted, "Ms. Cheney, if there’s anything bothering you, remember you can talk to me. I might not be able to help much, but I can listen to you vent."
"I know our Bella is the most considerate, go on now." Sharon smiled, feeling much better from Bella’s antics, and stopped thinking about the chaotic thoughts in her mind.
"Okay then, I’ll go nap. What about you, Ms. Cheney?"
"I’ll go over my lines."
The two of them talked as they walked back to the rest area. Bella lay down on a folding chair, covered herself with a blanket Shaw brought over, and went to sleep. Sharon sat nearby, flipping through the script.
But in reality, she wasn’t taking anything in. Memories from the past two to three years kept involuntarily surfacing in her mind, each thought more frustrating than the last.
Bella secretly peeked at Ms. Cheney’s face, quickly closing her eyes to avoid being caught. She thought to herself, it seems there really is something going on between Ms. Cheney and Director Ford. But it’s clear Ms. Cheney doesn’t want to talk about it, so she shouldn’t ask further.
Just as Bella was thinking this, her phone suddenly vibrated in her pocket.
She picked up the phone to check the caller ID; there was no name, just a phone number. But this number was already etched in her memory—she knew at a glance who was calling.
"Why would Damian call me at this time? Should I pick up or not?" Bella muttered to herself, staring at the incoming call display, feeling very conflicted.
"Bella?" Sharon also heard the vibrating phone and turned her head to look over.
"Ms. Cheney, sorry, did I disturb you?"
"No." Sharon shook her head, "A call you don’t want to answer?"
"Not really, it’s just... ah, I think I’ll answer it." Just as Bella was about to pick up, the vibrating phone fell silent—the caller had hung up.
Just as Bella was about to breathe a sigh of relief, the phone vibrated again, startling her so much she almost dropped it. Finally regaining her composure, she took the phone and saw that the caller ID had changed to another unrecognized number.
Sharon asked, "Is it the same call from before?"
Bella shook her head, "No, it’s another number."
"Maybe someone needs to talk to you."
"Hmm." Bella hesitated for a moment before pressing the answer key, "Hello?"
"Are you deliberately not answering my calls?" Damian’s voice came through the phone. Although framed as a question, his tone was assertive.
Bella’s heart tightened—anyone who admits it at this moment would be a fool.
"N... no, I just finished a scene and picked up my phone." Bella explained, then realized, "Wait... how do you know my number?"
"You’ve been off-set for an hour already, and now you just finished?" Damian laughed coldly, "Bella Acker, you lie now without even blushing."
Bella was startled. She immediately got up from the lounge chair, glancing around quickly, "How do you know when I got off set? Are you spying on me from nearby?"
