Chapter 48: How much for this store?

The waiter was caught off guard when he received this question before quickly saying, "This customer, is there something wrong with your meal? Or did I do something wrong? If I did, please let me make it up to you. Please don’t get the manager involved in this matter."

I was surprised by how panicked he was, but then again...

I was calling for a manager like a certain woman that had a name that started with K, it would be strange if he didn’t panic at this.

So with a calming smile, I said, "I’m not dissatisfied with anything, rather I’m quite impressed with this store so I wanted to call the manager to praise your store. As well, I want to talk a bit of business with the manager."

The waiter had a confused look, but he also had a cautious look in his eyes as he looked at me.

It was clear that he was trying to figure out just what I wanted to do, so I just looked back at him with the same smile.

There was nothing that I wanted to do, I just wanted to...

After a long silence, the waiter gave a nod and said, "Alright, please wait a minute."

When he walked off, he still looked back as if he didn’t trust me which made me sigh and think, "Am I really that untrustworthy?"

In no time at all, the manager came over in a rush and bowed his head as he said, "Young master, I apologize for the wait. If there is anything that you’re dissatisfied with about our store, then please tell me and I’ll take care of it."

A bitter smile appeared on my face when I saw this.

This manager and that waiter, they really couldn’t trust people, could they?

I already said that I was very satisfied and they were still acting like this.

Shaking my head and giving a sigh, I said, "It’s not like that at all, I just wanted to talk to you about something."

I gave a nod to one of the lackeys and they immediately brought a chair over for the manager.

The manager looked at the chair as if this was a deal with the devil, but he still sat down beside me in the end before slowly asking, "Young master, what did you want to talk about?"

I didn’t get to the point right away and swept my hand out at the dishes that were being devoured before saying, "As you can see, we quite enjoy the dishes that you make here."

The manager had a confused look on his face when he heard this as he didn’t understand what was happening here.

I didn’t mind this as I continued by saying, "Since we like it so much, I figured that I should do something to ensure that we can keep enjoying it."

The manager looked even more confused when he heard this, but he still gave a nod of agreement.

With a smile on my face, I said, "How much for this store?"

The manager’s chin dropped the moment that he heard this. He looked at me with a look of disbelief after hearing this.

It was as if he couldn’t understand what I was saying even though I had said it in simple words.

On the side, the lackeys all revealed bitter smiles when they heard this.

It was as if they were saying...

"Here we go again..."

After taking a while to come back to his senses, the manager asked, "Young master, could you repeat that again?"

With a nod, I said, "I said that I want to buy your store. Tell me how much you want for it."

The manager just looked at me with a shocked look again before saying, "Young master, I don’t think there’s any value in buying our store. If you want, you could probably buy a restaurant in a much more prominent place."

It wasn’t that the manager didn’t want to sell, it was just that he was afraid of trouble.

He had already heard of how loose and generous this young master was with his money. A hundred low grade spirit stones, that was their entire menu a thousand times over...

This was not an amount that anyone could throw out.

Yet this young master threw out these hundred low grade spirit stones like it was nothing.

This was a clear sign that he didn’t have a normal status.

So he didn’t want the young master to be angry with him if he sold this inn that didn’t have any customers.

He couldn’t afford to make this young master angry since he had no idea how this young master would retaliate.

Before I could say anything, one of the lackeys suddenly said, "Young master, with the location of the store, the price of the food, and the customers that frequent this restaurant, it is..."

He went on to give a detailed explanation of the various aspects of the restaurant, which was so detailed that the manager looked at him with a shocked look.

When he was done, he said, "In my opinion, this restaurant is worth more than one hundred and seventeen low grade spirit stones. It’s only worth that much because it’s situated in the capital city of this province."

The manager had a bitter look on his face, but he didn’t refute it.

As the one that ran this restaurant, naturally he knew that everything that the lackey said was true, so he couldn’t refute it. But there was a surprised look in his eyes since he never thought the lackey would be so accurate in his calculations.

It was as if he already knew everything about the restaurant.

I could see this, so I knew that the lackey was correct about all of this.

I looked at the lackey and asked, "How do you know all of this?"

The lackey revealed an awkward look as he said, "I’m from a merchant family, so I’m used to doing things like this."
