Wealthy Beauty in the 60s-Chapter 630 - 632: So Picky that Even the Aunt Wants to Quit
"Mom and Dad, you can stay at our place when you’re free. Changing the surroundings sometimes changes the mood too," Feiling muttered internally, not responding to Wen Shufei’s words but addressing Father Jing and Mrs. Jing. Although she kept a composed exterior, she felt somewhat unhappy inside.
Mrs. Jing took turns holding the triplets, feeling a deep reluctance to part with them. After all, these were the grandchildren she had raised, and now they were separating. Considering they still lived close by in the Capital, Mrs. Jing watched her youngest son and his family leave.
Once she stepped outside the Jing Family house, Feiling felt a sigh of relief. It was more comfortable being in her own home without having to be so considerate of others.
At the Jing Family home, the departure of Jing Yao and his family left Father Jing, Mrs. Jing, and even Jing Hao not particularly happy, with Wen Shufei visibly upset.
However, after Jing Yao and his family had left, Wen Shufei’s appetite returned remarkably, enjoying the delicious food greatly, which relieved Mrs. Jing as she had been worried about her poor appetite.
Jing Xin, having found out about this, felt uncomfortable as well. Being a married daughter, she avoided meddling in her brothers’ affairs, but she disapproved of Wen Shufei’s behavior.
Jing Xin was also pregnant and called home to share the good news. It was during this conversation that she heard about the family matters from Mrs. Jing. After hanging up, she immediately called Jing Yao and Feiling. Upon hearing about Jing Xin’s pregnancy, Feiling was delighted and chatted with her for a long time before hanging up.
It had been a while since they had lived there, and upon returning home, Feiling and Jing Yao put down the kids and promptly started cleaning the house.
The Jing Family had a maid to help out, but they didn’t have one here, and it wasn’t feasible to bring the maid over from Jing’s house, especially with Wen Shufei being pregnant.
Thus, Jing Yao and Feiling had to hire a maid. Due to their hurried move, they weren’t prepared, so the couple ended up cleaning, washing, cooking, and taking care of the children, ending their day utterly exhausted.
Despite being accustomed to a life of comfort, housework was a far cry from exercising at the gym. Although the chores were distributed between them, they were still exhausted after the relentless day.
However, returning to their own place felt fulfilling. In their hearts, the Jing Family home would eventually belong to Jing Yao, and their previous stay was only temporary; thus, they did not feel much sadness when they moved out.
"I’ll arrange for a maid to come over and help as soon as possible," Jing Yao said, not wanting Feiling to overexert herself, considering that she needed to look after several children and manage the company as well.
Feiling nodded. The kids, only two years old now, would hopefully have an easier time next year when they could start kindergarten.
The next day, Jing Yao and Feiling brought the kids over, and Xia Xiao was delighted to see Feiling and the children back.
Gao Guoqiang and Zheng Xianghong were also thrilled to see Feiling’s children, filling the Gao family with joy and warmth.
When the mothers had a private chat, Feiling shared her feelings with Xia Xiao, expressing her discontent: "Living there was quite okay, but my sister-in-law’s behavior made me uncomfortable. She complained about headaches and not having an appetite for food. Who hasn’t been pregnant before? But she targeted Yangyang, Liangliang, and Xinxin too much. It was too personal."
Her own child was being disliked, and Feiling was deeply frustrated as a mother.
"Don’t bother with her, just focus on living your lives well." Xia Xiao knew her daughter was uncomfortable, and she felt the same, but there was nothing she could do.
Wen Shufei didn’t explicitly say anything, but she mentioned she was pregnant and in poor health and needed a quiet environment to nurture the pregnancy, or she would return to her parents’ home. The Jing Family couldn’t possibly let Wen Shufei go back to her parent’s home to nurture her pregnancy, especially since Jing Hao was the eldest son; it was only Zodiac and Feiling’s family that left.
Still, Xia Xiao comforted her daughter, saying, "Your sister-in-law is narrow-minded. It’s good that you moved out, otherwise the conflict would only keep growing. As long as your family is fine, who cares about them? They can’t bother you."
Feiling nodded, happy to have moved out, but Wen Shufei’s behavior made it seem as if her own children were a burden to her.
Feiling’s children were always together in the Jing Family and had no other playmates, but when they visited their grandmother’s home, they played happily with a bunch of cousins and didn’t even want to go back home; they wanted to stay.
Jing Yao and Feiling were both amused and exasperated by this. Xia Xiao said, "Feiling’s old room is still empty; just stay here. Yangyang, Liangliang, and Xinxin can play with their cousins here. Kids always look for companions."
Although Feiling was married, Xia Xiao still kept Feiling’s room just as it had been, untouched and unchanged. She had only one daughter and naturally had a soft spot for her. Moreover, the house was spacious enough, and they were never short of rooms; hence, Feiling’s room was preserved.
The house also had guest rooms. Not just for Feiling’s family, but also Gao Jiazhi’s family, Weilin’s family, and Xiao Mei’s family could stay comfortably.
Feiling and Jing Yao brought their children and stayed at her parent’s home. Mrs. Jing, on the other hand, couldn’t bear to be away from her grandchildren and called several times a day. Learning that Jing Yao and Feiling were staying at the Gao family’s home made her heart uneasy.
Their elder daughter-in-law’s excuse of going to her parent’s home to nurture her pregnancy forced them to support her, at the expense of their younger son and daughter-in-law. Yet, the younger son and daughter-in-law ended up staying at the daughter-in-law’s parental home.
At this time, Mrs. Jing couldn’t blame Jing Yao and Feiling for staying with their in-laws; she was distressed and called Jing Xin, who also felt helpless and didn’t know what to advise.
Mrs. Jing’s unhappiness was just beginning. Ever since Wen Shufei got pregnant, her behavior became even more unreasonable—recalling how the Jing Family treated Feiling when she was pregnant and giving birth, she didn’t want to be treated any worse.
Today she would demand to eat this, tomorrow that, constantly complaining that this or that was not to her liking, to the point where the maid nearly resigned, only staying because of the good treatment in the Jing Family otherwise she would have left.
Mrs. Jing was also very frustrated but indulged Wen Shufei for the sake of her grandchild. She valued Wen Shufei’s pregnancy highly as, given Jing Hao’s career in politics, following current policies, he could only have one child. Thus, Wen Shufei’s child, whether a boy or a girl, would be Jing Hao’s only child.
On the third day, as Jing Yao and Feiling were still critiquing the maid, Jing Family’s maid came over to their side, while Wen Shufei looked for another maid.
Wen Shufei was too picky, dissatisfied with everything, unpleased with the maid, and wanting to change, Jing Hao arranged for the maid to be transferred here.
But for Feiling, this was a happy turn of events. After all, this maid had been with the Jing Family for a long time, attending to her throughout her pregnancies and childbirth, and she had grown accustomed and, most importantly, trusted the maid.
