Chapter 63: The Bunny Girls

I wanted to ask Maylene about the distinct absence of girls but before I could, another bunny girl came over to us, a distinctly unhappy look on her face.

"Maylene?! What are you doing bringing strangers to our place?!"

Our bunny girl guide turned to the newcomer, "They saved my life."

"And do you even know if they are here to sell us out to the Rock Munchers? You’re bringing in more additional mouths to feed! How can you do this to us?!"

Maylene scowled at her and it looked like she was trying to come up with an answer so I decided to step in.

I turned towards Olivia, "We did at least bring some supplies didn’t we?"

Olivia turned back to Leena who had resorted to carrying our stuff on her human back instead of her horse back and found the centaur girl giving her a nod.

"Yes, my Lord. We did."

"In that case, can you help distribute some of our supplies to them? Leave enough for us to take a return trip at least."

"By your will, my Lord," She bowed.

I turned back to the newcomer and gave her my business smile, "We have supplies that we can share with you guys. Perhaps you can show my friends where they can share them with you?"

The other bunny girl was obviously not expecting this and was just stuck staring at me for a good few seconds before Maylene nudged her with her elbow.

"Go on then? Aren’t you worried about our supplies? Hurry up and go help out!"

She begrudgingly left with my Guardians, leading them away from us.

"My Lord?" Olivia asked, which needed me to look at her for a second before I realised she was wondering if she should stay with me or go with them.

"Go. Make sure nothing goes wrong with them. I’ll handle this."

She nodded before turning to follow the others, leaving me alone with Maylene.

She continued to guide me down the spiral until we eventually reached a door that slid open to reveal a hydroponics farm of sorts.

For a city that was located underground, and using a literal stone wall as an entrance, I was certainly not expecting to find something so high tech here.

I had to ask the first thing that came to mind, "Where are you getting the water?"

Maylene turned to me, "Huh... I’m surprised you even know about that... But there’s an underground spring that we pump out the water from for use here."

"But... How does the water replenish itself? Is there still rain outside of the tunnels?"

She blinked at me, "Are you sure you’re not a Bunarf in disguise? I thought everyone else wasn’t interested in this."

I really had to hold back on reminding her that I was from another World again.

But from what she’s saying, it seems like the general consensus is that the other civilisations of this world do not farm or something.

Either that, or these bunny girls are a really closed off society to the point that anyone from the outside are regarded as savages.

She gestured at the farm in front of us, "I can put in a good word for you to work here if you want. But with your gadgets, I would honestly say that you might be better working for us as a scavenger though. It’s up to you if you want to take up that offer or not."

That made me confused.

"Gadgets? What gadgets?"

She tilted her head at me, "If you don’t want to tell me, that’s fine but... I don’t think you can keep that a secret for long, you know? And I’ll just tell you that it’s better if you give them a good checkup because I think you’ve been using them for a long time and I doubt you had any chance to get it properly serviced."

I blinked at her, "Sorry, but I literally have no idea what you’re saying right now."

She frowned at me, "Your gadgets? Your tools? What do you call them then? I don’t know if you people have a different name for it outside of the tunnels."

"No, I just don’t know what you’re referring to... What gadgets? Do you mean our flashlights or something?"

"What? No? Are you joking right now? I mean the tools that you used to fight the Rock Munchers earlier."

"Tools? Err... You mean weapons?"

"Yes, that’s it. You were using those to fight the Rock Munchers earlier, right?"

"Err... I wasn’t?"

She blinked at me, "Weren’t you tossing them around and crushing them like they were nothing? You were using some kind of gadget for that aren’t you?"

I gave her an incredulous look, "What kind of gadget could even help someone do that?"

"Eh? Wait... Are you telling me... That you didn’t use any tools at all?"

I raised up my hand and let a little of Olivia’s lighting travel between my fingers, "No? All of us are awakened with powers. I believe you also have some powers that were awakened after the Ano-- Ahem... The Rock Munchers appeared around here, right?"

"Umm... I... I suppose? But... I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone gaining powers that can help fight against the Rock Munchers directly?"

Hmm... That means that this World was especially unlucky where most people basically awakened support type powers and none of them have powers that are related to direct combat. I guess that’s why they were able to survive while hiding underground but are unable to fight back.

Before I could say anything else, Maylene had grabbed my hand and was looking up at me in awe.

"You... You really mean that? Do you really have powers that allows you to fight the Rock Munchers on even grounds?!"

"Err... Yes? All of my Gua-- My friends do. Well... Not exactly I guess? Some of them also have support type powers but they are using them in an off--"

"I don’t care about that! I want to know yours! What’s your power?!" She asked, quite literally hoping on the spot as she asked.

I was a little distracted by how her chest bounced up and down from the motion and realised she wasn’t wearing any underwear before I managed to turn my attention back to her.

"If you must know... The first power I awakened is enhanced strength. So I have strength that is equivalent to ten other men."

"But... You made electrical sparks with your fingers?"

"That’s another power of mine that I awakened not too long ago. It’s a little complicated and I don’t think this is an appropriate time or place to explain anyway..."

I then gestured towards the hydroponics garden vaguely, trying to remind her that she was still in the middle of the tour.

She gasped and quickly separated from me, "Ah! That’s right! Umm... As I was saying... You could work here of course! We would welcome more hands if it means you can do more work! But now that I know... Wait!! Then you shouldn’t be here!! Come quickly!!"

She grabbed my hand once more and I was now quite sure that either she had ADHD or these bunny girls just have a tendency to be hyperactive.

That was also when I realised...

With her stride, I should have been able to keep up with her even if she were to run at full speed... But then I realised that she was practically dragging me along as she sprinted down the spiral to the bottom of the chasm as I struggled to keep up with her.

She’s fast!!

I had to use my enhanced strength to kick off the ground just so that I don’t end up tripping and being dragged along the ground behind her because she was just running that fast.

When we reached the bottom of the chasm where I thought a forge was located... It turns out they had turned that place into some kind of factory with production lines on conveyor belts and robotic arms that were busy assembling and moving stuff into machines to churn out more stuff.

I wondered what she brought me down here for and was worried that she was going to shove me into a machine to become part of the assembly line when she shouted out towards the machines.

"I call upon the council for a meeting!!"

Several heads poked out from amongst the machinery and there were some movement as a few of the bunny girls stepped out from the production line, all of them dressed in worker overalls.

I don’t know if it’s race specific but everyone of them was a shortstack with chest sizes that were at least half their heads in size and a matching bottom to go with it.

Also, it’s pretty much confirmed that everyone here is also a girl and there’s no guys to be found.

A slightly older looking bunny girl grumbled, "What is it this time, Maylene? Why did you bring a weird thing here?"

She then gestured with both her hands towards me, "Everyone!! Our saviour has arrived!!!"
