We jumped another two more times before we reached our destination.

The system had a single white dwarf as a star and what seemed like an asteroid belt orbiting around said star.

As far as I could see, there were no planets in this system at all but there was an extremely large man made station that was built to also orbit the star as well.

We flew directly towards the station and several figures flew out of the station to head directly towards us.

Our scanners zoomed in on them and I quickly realised they were Exo-Knights that had been launched to intercept us.

They sped over to us and stopped in front of us, blocking our way.

A notification came from my console indicating a call from one of the pilots and I tapped on the console to answer the call.

In front of me was an auburn haired young man with striking blue eyes and he spoke out in a rather smooth voice.

"Stop right there. This is a restricted area! No one that is unaffiliated is allowed to enter!"

Before I could even say anything, another screen appeared beside the first screen to show Theresa looking flustered.

"Anthony!! What are you doing?!"

The guy who contacted me first looked surprised to see her, "A... Ah, Theresa? Why are you... Oh. Sorry, I didn’t see your ship. I’m guessing these people are allowed to be here?"

Theresa pouted, "Of course! In fact, the one you are speaking to is going to be your coworker!"

He turned his attention back to me, "Oh... You’re a new test pilot? I... See..."

I could feel his gaze lowering towards my chest area where the top of my suit was unzipped to show a large amount of cleavage.

Hey... Can’t blame me, ok? Lea had come by earlier and wanted some fun times with me so I let her suckle on my puppies before we jumped to this system.

That’s why I’m a bit underdressed at the moment but it’s fine since the screen only shows the upper part of my body!

Renata must have felt his gaze because she went ahead to zip up my suit without me saying anything, hiding my cleavage entirely.

He coughed when he realised he had been caught, "Ahem... In that case, please allow me to welcome you! Forgive me for my... Earlier words. You have to understand that security is important here."

Theresa rolled her eyes, "Sure, sure. Just get a move on already."

The call ended and the Exo-Knights in front of us turned around to start flying towards the station.

We followed behind them and we reached a part of the station that was jutting out where several ships were also docked at the docking arm.

Theresa’s ship separated from ours and headed towards one of the docking bays, allowing us to fly towards one as well.

I gave the announcement through the ship to let everyone on board know that we would be docking soon and to prepare for disembarkation before getting out of the Captain’s chair.

I trusted Renata to dock the ship so I got up and headed towards the cargo bay.

Heeled boots formed over my feet as I uncrossed my legs to put them on the ground, the boots continuing to materialise up my legs to transform into pants.

Having Renata as instant clothes is so convenient.

My heels clacked rhythmically against the ground as I walked through the corridor.

When I reached the armoury, I considered leaving my shotgun behind since this was technically a private company’s workplace but I decided to just bring it along anyway. If they want me to disarm, they can tell me to do that when I’m there.

I stepped into the cargo bay and found that the rest of my girls were already there.

"You girls are fast," I commented.

"Ehehehe~ Of course~ You called us here, didn’t you?"

That’s not what I meant but whatever...

Our ship slowly came to a stop as our docking bay latched onto the station’s.

We stood in front of the hatch as the doors cycled open, revealing a rather clean looking corridor in front of us.

The docking arm was designed to allow multiple ships to dock on either side of the arm. Thus, I wasn’t surprised to see the docking hatch directly opposite of us cycling open to reveal Theresa and several other people alongside her.

I assume those were also staff members like her.

Theresa immediately walked up to me with a smile on her lips, "Miss Tera! Welcome to The Barracks! This is where we test our Exo-Knights and also train our pilots!"

"I’m guessing that’s the name of the station?" I asked.

She nodded, "That’s right! And if you are interested, the system is known as The Training Grounds and it’s fully owned by us!"

Well... I can see the reason for the naming...

Right as I was about to ask her what was expected of us here, footsteps came from down the hall and I turned to see the same guy that had stopped us running towards us.

"Theresa!" The guy called out excitedly.

I wondered if there was another problem for him to run towards us until he stopped in front of Theresa to pull her into a hug and kiss her on the lips.

Theresa gasped but kissed him back, only to push him away after a while to hide her face.

"St... Stop! Oh my gosh, Anthony... We’re at work right now!"

He grinned, "Oh come one, it’s fine. Our bosses aren’t here anyway."

The guy tried to lean forward for a kiss again but Theresa covered his mouth with her palm.

"Come on, I said to stop! I told you we’re at work! In fact, I’m working right now!"

Theresa nodded in my direction and the guy turned to eye us before stepping back to grin at us.

He gave us a mock salute, "Hey! Name’s Anthony! Veteran Exo-Knight pilot working for this wonderful company! Been here for about six years now so you can call me your senior! I heard all of you would also be test pilots?"

Theresa quickly pushes him away, "Shoo! Shoo! You will get your chance to talk to them later! I still need to do orientation!"

He chuckled and winked in our direction before he walked off, giving us a backward wave.

Theresa let out a sigh before turning back to me, "I am so sorry about that... Anthony is indeed a veteran pilot in our company and he’s quite good too. He means well so please don’t judge him too harshly..."

I pointed at her, "I take it he’s your..."

"My boyfriend, yes... And before you ask, it’s not against company policy to be dating your coworkers so please don’t worry. Ah, actually, you don’t even need to worry since you are just here temporarily, Miss Tera."

I’m guessing she was referencing the fact that I was in a relationship with my crew members who will now also be my coworkers while we’re here.

Even though I didn’t exactly tell her that I was in a relationship with them, I guess it wasn’t that hard to guess considering my girls didn’t try to hide it and were especially touchy during the ’interview’.

I shook my head, "Don’t worry about it. So... What happens now?"

She straightened herself, trying to get some of her dignity back after that public display of affection earlier.

"Ahem... I’ll give you and your crew a quick orientation of the place and get you girls settled into your rooms. Umm... If I remember correctly, there is one of you who will not be joining as a pilot, correct?"

I nodded and gestured towards Renata who was still wearing her maid uniform and standing a step behind me.

"Just her," I answered.

"And I understand she will be staying with you?"

"That is correct."

"No worries, our pilots usually bunk with one other pilot so we can fit her in the same room as you. But I’m afraid one of you would need to share a room with another--"

"I will," Yumiko volunteered herself before she could finish her words.

"Oh, understood! I will take note of that. Ahem... Shall we?" She asked, gesturing towards the corridor.

She started to walk and we followed her, Theresa’s tail swishing behind her.

"During your contract period, you would be staying on the station and working on testing some of our Exo-Knights as required in live and virtual simulations. While you are here, I will be acting as your manager and if there’s anything you need or any questions you have, please look for me!"

That made me a little curious, "I thought you were supposed to be in charge of sales? Why are you also occupying this role?"

She turned back to smile at me, "Hehe~ I requested to be allowed to act as your manager while you are employed with us you see~ I am really interested in seeing how you perform with our Exo-Knights! Corporate granted my request since I have experience in this role before and because I’m the one who scouted you!"

Fair enough...

Anyway, I guess we’re officially temp employees now?
