When the Wind is Sweet: The Fairy Tale of Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster-Chapter 974: She Must Be Driven Away
Old Mr. Downey didn’t notice the girl’s thoughts, because she always wore a smile for everyone and was, after all, the esteemed Miss of The Xavier Family.
So, the old man, with a kind smile and no sign of defense, said to her, "Gia has gone for a walk in the yard, she’s already up; it’s her habit."
"Oh, okay." She seemed eager but still politely asked, "Are you going to the back mountain to gather herbs?" seeing him carrying a basket.
"Yes, I need to change her prescription again." The old man was quite happy, feeling that there was a significant possibility of curing Gia’s memory issue, and it could be soon.
"Thank you for your hard work." Rhiannon thought to herself, better wait until the old man leaves, then find that girl Gia.
Mother is reasoning with brother; it certainly won’t be brief, after all... emotions are serious business.
No matter how good Gia appears, she’s still a girl of unknown origin; mother won’t be confused.
Seeing the elderly man out of the hall, watching him head towards the backyard until his figure disappeared, Rhiannon finally put away her smile.
She entered the yard, somewhat anxious, searching for Gia’s figure with her eyes.
"Running out early in the morning, only thinking about attracting attention, shameless!" Rhiannon really disliked her, she walked further, searching.
She definitely wouldn’t let Nathan be with her! Gia wants to become her sister-in-law? Not in this lifetime!
At this moment, in the bedroom of the row of houses not far away, Gia saw a few stems of lilies in the vase on the nightstand.
Blooming, the stamens already trimmed off.
The fragrance in the room was even stronger than outside.
Walking towards the lilies, she could even see the dew glistening on the petals.
The bedroom wasn’t large, yet it gave her a sense of warmth, decorated in a Chinese style.
Beside the vase lay a small cat plush quietly, palm-sized, she slowly reached out to pick it up.
The cat plush was very clean but somewhat old, at least twenty years old.
Gia stared at the plush, her brows slowly tensing...
Suddenly, a memory related to the cat plush flashed in her mind, and she felt the blood in her body beginning to freeze.
Wasn’t this the most cherished toy from her childhood??
"Am I really... drifting to this place?" she murmured in a trembling voice, surely she was supposed to live here?
This should be her bedroom, so why was she adopted?
Gia was very, very certain! She must have slept in this bed before!
Gripping the plush tightly, she trembled slightly with excitement, slowly scanning the surroundings, feeling a bit puzzled. Where did it all go wrong?
Why would The Xavier Family lie to her?
Everything around her felt so familiar; in her memory, this bedroom was large, although now it seemed a bit small.
In her memory, the bed was tall, she needed a stool to climb up.
But now the height seemed just right.
In her memory, this bedroom had a back door hidden behind the curtains!
As she recalled this detail, Gia suddenly turned her eyes, her gaze landing on the billowing curtains.
Her throat tightened inexplicably, slowly, step by step, she headed towards those curtains...
Meanwhile, at the entrance of the main hall of the house, having searched everywhere and not seen any sign of Gia, Rhiannon arrived, "Mrs. Rhodes, have you seen Gia?"
The middle-aged woman wiping the table inside turned her head at the sound, "Hello, Miss." She quickly greeted her, glanced at the door beside, and answered her question, "Miss Gia is in the bedroom."
Rhiannon’s face changed, "What? How dare you let her in here?!" Regarding this forbidden place, even she hasn’t entered!
"Do you know what kind of place this is?!"
Mrs. Rhodes was speechless, holding a rag, timidly standing there.
Rhiannon turned her head and charged towards the open bedroom door—
"Gia!"
At this moment, Gia, having mustered the courage, nervously drew back the curtains, seeing the concealed door she remembered; her pupils dilated, she was too late to be shocked when Rhiannon frightened her half to death!
Her heart thumped intensely, she released the curtain and turned, crashing into the other’s angry gaze.
