When Will My Childhood Sweetheart Marry Me?-Chapter 200: Planning to Take Care of Her?
Boss Pei had 1.5 servings of steak for lunch, the extra half from what Princess had left over.
Before, she would have said that was unhygienic and would not have allowed him to eat it.
But today her reasoning was that wasting food is disgraceful, and he had to finish it.
A girl’s mood is like the weather in Rong City, changing every day, while some men are just the opposite, their beastly nature remains unchanged from start to finish. Whether they’re in a good mood or not, they seize every opportunity to bully someone to their heart’s content.
The meeting lasted only about ten minutes, during which Boss Pei spent five minutes talking about project requirements and used the remaining time to "harass" Princess.
She really wanted to chop off that hand below.
Jiang Shuyao had never regretted anything so much. If only she had known, she would have sat in the last row, far from this Devil.
However, everyone was waiting for him to raise that difficult question.
Feigning ignorance, Boss Pei’s gaze fell on each person in turn, pondering for a moment before realizing with an enlightened expression, "Right, I’ve already transferred seventy percent of the contract amount to your accounts proportionally. Make sure to check and let me know promptly if anything was missed."
"..."
Everyone’s expressions were quite a spectacle.
First, they were stunned, then pleasantly surprised, and at the very end, they all made the same move: they took out their phones.
For what?
To check if the money had arrived.
The scene was truly comical. Jiang Shuyao couldn’t help but turn on her camera and capture this memorable moment with her phone.
Everyone is reluctant to forget their first earnings from their student days.
Wait a minute.
Most people, after checking their account balances and finding them much larger than expected, realized what Boss Pei had just said about seventy percent.
Wasn’t it supposed to be thirty percent?
Jiang Xubai’s eyes twinkled with concealed amusement, knowing that Boss Pei’s visit to the furniture company wasn’t motivated by such simple reasons.
As the project neared its concluding phase with only a bit of finishing work left, the clients had previously agreed to pay thirty percent upon delivery of the final design. However, they delayed the payment until now, claiming that their internal efficiency had been affected by repeated modifications.
Back then, Jiang Xubai was so angry he smashed a chair, but contrary to him, a certain headquarters bigwig remained as calm as ever, not only unbothered but also methodically fed him a big bowl of "poisonous chicken soup."
The chicken soup had an unexpectedly positive effect; after smashing the chair, his fighting spirit was reignited. After all, he was only a freshman, and from the point of view of his original intentions, learning knowledge at this stage was actually more important than making money.
But now everyone understood a lesson.
The things Boss Pei didn’t seem to care about were not really unimportant to him. The calmer he was, the more it meant he was poised to strike, waiting for the right moment to reclaim everything that should belong to them, principal and interest alike.
Turns out, Old Man Jiang really hadn’t been wrong about the person.
Neither had Jiang Xubai.
After the meeting dispersed, Jiang Shuyao stared at the photo, lost in thought with a slight curve on her lips, wondering about something.
"Princess, what’s with the silly smile?" Pei Yan stood behind her chair, speaking lazily.
His hand on her shoulder carried a faint scent of tobacco. Jiang Shuyao frowned, "How many is that now for you?"
The person behind her went silent.
Pei Yan lifted his sleeve to his nose to sniff, but there was no smell.
He pinched the girl’s cheek with interest, "Are you trying to trick me?"
"Only the guilty fear being tricked."
Jiang Shuyao prepared to get up to get some water, but he pressed down slightly, and she sat back down in the chair.
"Open the bank card client app," Pei Yan said, taking her cute thermal mug and heading to the water dispenser.
She didn’t have text notifications enabled, so she could only see if money had arrived when she checked the app.
For the furniture website, she’d only participated in modifying the design, so she expected to only receive a few hundred yuan at most.
But the actual deposit... individual, ten, hundred, thousand.
She was stunned after counting.
That guy had actually transferred his share to her as well.
Jiang Shuyao couldn’t help but laugh and cry, was he trying to provide for her?
The girl’s amused expression caught Pei Yan’s eye as he returned from getting water. As he sat down, he leaned over to block her view and kissed her cheek. "What’s that look for, not enough?"
"Not at all, not at all." Despite blushing, she still felt like laughing.
Suppressing her laughter, she finally managed to compose herself.
Glancing over to see that everyone else was focused on their computers, she boldly leaned in and gave Pei Yan a peck near the corner of his mouth.
A girl’s lips always carry a sweet fragrance, a light touch is enough to lift one to heaven.
Basking in heavenly sunlight, Boss Pei’s gaze turned tender beyond recognition. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
When his face softened from its usual stern lines, Pei Yan was no longer Pei Yan, but Pei Gou.
"Princess."
"Hmm?"
"Kiss me again."
"No can do, that sort of thing shouldn’t be indulged too much."
Pei Yan almost choked on his breath, hearing a novel phrase from the Princess.
"Kissing your boyfriend can’t be called indulging, you should find another word, ’the more, the merrier’ is more like it."
The more, the merrier.
She blinked but didn’t argue.
Feeling warmth on her shoulder, Pei Yan pulled her close to lean against him, a normal couple’s posture that was still polite in public.
He gently kissed the top of her hair. "Princess, your birthday is coming up, do you have any wishes? Brother will fulfill them for you."
Jiang Shuyao perked up.
Birthday!
Time flies, Christmas was just around the corner.
But that wasn’t the point, the point was, she looked up at him: "Let’s just celebrate at school, I don’t want to go back."
It just so happened that Christmas Eve was on the weekend, and recalling last month’s time alone, she shivered at the thought.
Pei Yan knew what his little friend was afraid of, and he didn’t intentionally scare her. He nodded straightforwardly in agreement: "Sure, at school."
At school, they would still have their time alone.
Jiang Shuyao, unaware of his devilish thoughts, began to seriously consider how she should celebrate her birthday this year.
"How about we go shopping?" Her eyes twinkled with stars.
They had been together for so long and had never gone out shopping together, how ridiculous.
Last time during the National Day holiday, they only strolled around Happy Valley and went back to school the next day, diving into the base assessments, busy until now.
When shopping was mentioned, Pei Yan also fell into reflection.
The most ordinary thing became an unfulfilled little wish in his life.
The two exchanged a look and silently came to an agreement.
Ever since she was young, her parents had instilled in her the idea to study hard and not worry about anything else.
This anything else included not only her necessities but even her daily intimate clothing, all provided by her mother.
Back in middle school, whenever she went shopping with her classmates, they would get excited over clothes and accessories, but she alone felt no desire at all.
Jiang Shuyao knew that what her mother bought her was a thousand times better than anything she saw. Anything that caught her eye would appear by her bedside the very next day.
What did that feel like?
At first, it must have felt quite fortunate, but gradually, she realized she was living a life devoid of interest.
