Chapter 26: Heavenly Wrath

Lin Xiaotian looked up toward the sky, and for the first time since arriving in this world, genuine shock appeared on his face.

This was not a Heavenly Tribulation but was something far worse. It was Heaven’s Wrath.

A phenomenon so rare that even the ancient records only mentioned it a handful of times across countless centuries.

The last time it had appeared... was hundreds of years ago.

Back then, the Ancestor of the Thousand Beasts Sect had gone mad. In his madness he slaughtered billions across the continent, turning entire kingdoms into wastelands. The slaughter had grown so horrific that even the Heavenly Dao itself had descended in fury to erase him.

That event had shaken the entire cultivation world and now...

The same phenomenon had appeared again but this time it was not for a mad emperor or an ancient tyrant.

It was for a young boy.

Lin Xiaotian’s gaze slowly shifted toward Tianhe. For a moment his heart felt strangely calm, settling into an unfamiliar sense of reverence.

Even though Lin Xiaotian possessed absolute invincibility within the sect, he knew one thing with absolute certainty.

If Tianhe had awakened this power outside the sect, Lin Xiaotian would not even have been able to remain standing before him.

Tianhe looked completely different now. An ancient, oppressive might radiated from him like a forgotten ruler awakening from endless slumber.

Behind him stretched the massive silhouette of a divine black dragon, its body extending across the sky for miles like a phantom god watching the world.

Both Tianhe’s eyes and the dragon avatar’s eyes burned with the same intent. A savage determination.

A will that seemed ready to tear apart the heavens themselves as if provoked by that defiance, the Heavenly Will roared back.

The sky trembled violently. Black clouds rolled across the heavens like a collapsing ocean while crimson lightning coiled through them like furious serpents.

The entire sect shook. Outside, the disciples had already rushed out of their residences.

But the moment they stepped outside, an overwhelming pressure descended from the sky.

Several disciples instantly fell to their knees, their bodies trembling violently, others felt their lungs collapse under the pressure, unable to breathe.

If not for the sect formation activating in time radiating a protective barrier across the mountains—many of them would have already been crushed by the descending heavenly pressure.

When they finally managed to lift their heads and look toward the sky...

Every expression froze Fear, Shock and Awe.

Their minds went completely blank. High above the sect floated Tianhe, wrapped in terrifying lightning storms, while the shadow of a colossal black dragon loomed behind him like a primordial god.

Many disciples felt an instinctive urge rise within them. A deep, ancient instinct.

One that made them feel as though not bowing would be an insult to the being before them.

However, two figures reacted differently.

Yan Feng and Ciao.

They stared toward Tianhe, their eyes filled not with reverence but with burning excitement. They too could feel the overwhelming pressure radiating from him.

But within that pressure they sensed something else an Opportunity and a Challenge.

Their hearts trembled with anticipation. Meanwhile, high above them, the sky continued to darken.

The swirling cloud mass slowly formed a massive rotating vortex like a celestial wheel, gathering every strand of lightning in the sky.

The lightning gradually condensed above Tianhe’s head. Lin Xiaotian’s expression turned serious. He attempted to teleport Tianhe away from the center of the storm.

But the moment Tianhe moved the clouds moved with him. The Heavenly Wrath had already locked onto its target.

It would not allow escape. Then the first bolt fell.

A blinding pillar of lightning descended from the heavens like divine punishment.

The moment it struck the ground, the surrounding mountains split apart as if struck by a god’s hammer.

The lightning passed directly through Tianhe’s body. He coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Yet somehow... He remained standing.

Lin Xiaotian stared in disbelief. That attack alone possessed enough power to instantly destroy a Nascent Soul cultivator.

But Tianhe had endured it a moment later Lin Xiaotian understood why. The dragon avatar behind him.

The dragon’s soul was shielding Tianhe, absorbing part of the heavenly punishment.

The second bolt fell.

Then the third.

The fourth.

Each strike tore through the sky like divine judgment and with every strike Tianhe’s condition worsened.

Blood poured from his body as cracks spread across the dragon scales covering him.

The land for hundreds of miles around the sect was slowly turning black, the earth charred by the unimaginable lightning.

Seven bolts descended in total each strike looked like the end. Yet Tianhe still endured.

By the time the seventh bolt faded, the dragon avatar behind him had grown faint.

Lin Xiaotian sighed quietly. "Is it... over?"

The clouds began slowly dispersing.

Below, Miao-Miao who had been clutching Lin Xiaotian’s robes tightly the entire time—finally loosened her grip.

But tears still filled her eyes Her brother floated in the sky above. His dragon scales were shattered.

One horn had broken completely and his whole body was covered in burns and blood.

Yet somehow... He was still alive and breathing.

But just as the clouds seemed ready to part Something changed.

The dispersing clouds suddenly stopped. Then, as if commanded by an unseen force, they rapidly collapsed inward toward a single point.

Every remaining thread of lightning in the sky condensed into one place. Lin Xiaotian’s eyes widened. "No..."

A single black lightning bolt formed. Unlike the previous strikes, this one looked like a spear meant to pierce through the earth itself.

The pressure alone made the mountains tremble Lin Xiaotian’s pupils constricted.

It was too strong even if Tianhe had been in perfect condition, the dragon soul protecting him would not be able to withstand such a strike.

Let alone now this was the true execution strike. Without hesitation, Lin Xiaotian acted.

He instantly teleported Miao-Miao away as she screamed in panic.

Then Just before the black lightning descended Lin Xiaotian teleported directly in front of Tianhe.

The bolt struck him for a moment, the world turned white. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

The lightning slowly dispersed into the air Lin Xiaotian exhaled. "Hah... good." He chuckled "At least I’m still invincible."

But then a sharp pain shot through his body. Lin Xiaotian glanced down and as he did so his pupils shrank.

From the elbow down, his left arm had completely vanished. The Heavenly Wrath had actually managed to damage him.

With a flick of his hand, the missing arm regenerated instantly but Lin Xiaotian’s expression turned dark. "I seem to have played too deep."

"Going against the Heavenly Will is no joke."

Without wasting time, he grabbed Tianhe’s unconscious body and teleported back into the cultivation chamber.

As he did so, another thought surfaced. This disturbance had been far too large.

Even though he had suppressed the phenomenon with the sect formation, the heavenly clouds had still covered nearly half the region.

Tianhe’s existence had already been revealed and just as Lin Xiaotian suspected...

Across the region, countless cultivators had witnessed the phenomenon Many cities saw the darkened sky.

But Maple Leaf City saw the most There, people had clearly seen the silhouette of the colossal dragon avatar above the mountains.

Even if they couldn’t identify it clearly, rumors had already begun spreading.

However,... Those were not the real danger.

Far away, across the continent from the outer regions to the very center ancient beings stirred. Deep within hidden caves.

Inside ancient sects within forbidden ruins. One by one... Pairs of eyes opened.

Every one of them stared toward the heavens and every single one of them had the same question. "How... has it returned?"

These beings were ancient monsters who had lived for thousands of years and they all seemed to recognized the aura that had appeared.

Deep within the central continent, beneath the palace of the greatest power in the land Something stirred. An old man slowly stood up.

His eyes were gentle, yet his skin resembled ancient tree bark. "So... the prophecy still came to pass."

He sighed quietly. "It seems we old dogs will have reason to meet again." He gave a fake chuckle but then stopped

As he spoke, twenty-four tokens suddenly flew out of his storage ring.

They shot into the sky like shooting stars, flying across the continent toward twenty-four different ancient powers.

The old man looked toward the distant sky his eyes were calm.

But deep within the earth beneath the palace...

Something ancient had begun to awaken.
