Chapter 457: Chapter 457: Return to the Island

Harbor City.

Duke walked out of the building where the Teleportation Witch Array was located, and a sea breeze blew right toward him. The damp, chilly air, laden with the rich salty scent of the sea, made him feel quite familiar.

Harbor City was still the same as before, unchanged.

Duke still had to report back and did not linger long in Harbor City.

He went to the seaside, summoned a dark demon, and boarded the Black Sail.

Then he hurried over to the Elizabeth to complete various formalities before finishing this Plane war report.

The contribution rewards would take some time to be delivered, as Duke participated in the Plane war with the Sixth United Legion, which required reporting back to the United Legion, and then Black Sail would calculate Duke’s contributions after receiving data from the United Legion.

Although the exact amount is not yet known, it’s definitely substantial.

In a total of eight months, Duke’s seventh squad executed many missions.

Most of these missions weren’t highly dangerous but were able to earn quite a few contributions.

Additionally, Catherine had a good impression of Duke and truthfully reported his excellent performance on the battlefield.

After finishing these formalities, Duke returned to his own Deserted Island.

Yala, Nina, and others were especially excited to see him, and naturally, there was another bout of intense activity that night.

Upon hearing news of Duke’s return, Shari also rushed back from Academy Island.

However, when she saw Duke, it was just as he was entwined with Yala and Nina.

Shari didn’t dare disturb and could only wait outside, but she could still faintly hear the noise inside, causing her cheeks to blush slightly.

She had just been promoted to a First-class Wizard Apprentice, and it happened quite recently.

As a Wizard Apprentice, Shari’s aptitude wasn’t considered exceptional, but slightly above average.

Being able to advance to a First-class Wizard Apprentice was not only due to Duke’s resource support but also because of her own efforts and decent aptitude.

Duke naturally sensed Shari outside and, after a few more rounds, concluded, realizing he couldn’t indulge too much.

"I heard from Mr. Harrison that your Magic Potion refining skills have improved," Duke said as he left the bedroom, walking toward the laboratory on the island with Shari beside him.

Shari shyly replied, "Mainly thanks to Duke and Mr. Harrison for providing many opportunities to practice. Plus, I wanted to earn more Magic Stones and not always rely on Duke’s support."

"You don’t need to worry too much about these. It’s no big deal to me. Take your time; as you grow, you can also help me handle some affairs," Duke said.

"Mm-hmm!" Shari earnestly nodded.

She always felt a bit embarrassed, thinking there was nothing she could do to help Duke.

So, she always worked hard to learn and cultivate, just to repay Duke one day.

Duke didn’t mind; he merely wanted to train some personnel for himself for future preparations.

...

In Duke’s personal laboratory, there was only him.

The lab was already set up with various protective Witch Arrays, with the Eye of Darkness on alert in the shadows.

On the island, Storm Dragon Eagles, Kobolds, and the Three-headed Magma Lizard were responsible for security, always attentive to the surroundings.

After setting up these protective measures, Duke entered the Light God Court.

As soon as he entered, he could sense the Light God Court had expanded significantly, now covering several hundred square kilometers.

The surrounding land had various kinds of trees, flowers, and grasses that were planted casually earlier and had grown now.

Duke arrived at a clearing and picked up the wooden box containing the World Tree Seed.

Returning to the Wizard Plane and his Deserted Island, he finally had the chance to examine this item closely.

Duke took a deep breath, calming his slightly excited mood.

Carefully holding the ancient wooden box, the faint patterns on it seemed more profound under the pure and gentle light of the Light God Court.

He extended his hands, and a trace of exceedingly fine Spiritual Power, likened to the most delicate unlocking tool, gently touched the box’s opening.

Without encountering any obstacles, a nearly inaudible click was heard as the lid casually sprang open a sliver.

A wave of indescribable, majestic, and ancient life force instantly poured out from the gap.

This aura wasn’t wild; instead, it carried a sacred, gentle, yet supremely sovereign flavor, like the gentle breath of an ancient slumbering God.

Merely inhaling this trace of aura, Duke felt his Spiritual Power seemed washed, becoming unusually vibrant and clear.

He no longer hesitated and slowly opened the box completely.

Inside, a layer of unknown soft velvet lined the box, and at the center of the velvet, lay a seed in stillness.

This seed was about the size of a fingernail, possessing a gentle, jade-like texture, with a tender green color that exuded a uniquely pure and translucent feeling.

The surface of the seed was not smooth but was covered with extremely intricate, naturally occurring patterns. These patterns were immeasurably fine, yet they contained some incomprehensible profound rules. Looking at them too long could induce a dizzying sense of immersion.

It lay there in silence, as if it always had been.

But Duke could clearly sense the terrifying, nearly infinite Life Force and energy contained within it.

This power was colossal yet so restrained, like a dormant universe.

This was the World Tree Seed.

By merely gazing at it, Duke could feel a tremor from deep within his soul, along with a subtle resonance from the entire Light God Court space.

This space under his control seemed instinctively welcoming to the seed’s arrival, with the surrounding energy becoming more lively and orderly.

Duke attempted to delve deeper with his Spiritual Power, seeking clearer insight into the seed’s internal structure.

Yet, as his Spiritual Power touched the seed’s natural patterns, it was met with a gentle but firm blockade, unable to penetrate at all.

This blockade held no malice but rather felt like an inherent safeguard, or perhaps a threshold.

With Duke’s current level of Spiritual Power, he was far from probing the seed’s inner mysteries.

This World Tree Seed was still in a dormant state, requiring sufficient energy to awaken, after which it could sprout and grow.

The entire process demanded vast amounts of energy that an ordinary wizard could not support.

Not to mention regular wizards, even smaller Wizard Organizations couldn’t sustain it.
