Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree-Chapter 525: Acceptance
Wizards have always been the most adept at exploiting various resources. In their eyes, very few things are truly worthless.
The Void Insect Race exists in large numbers, and thoroughly researching the insect corpse can provide Magic Potion Materials, Casting Materials, and more.
The presence of the mother nest further elevates the value of the Void Insect Race.
If you can transform a mother nest into a slave creature, it’s akin to having an infinite potential war machine.
The only issue is that the mother nest cannot be moved, which is inconvenient during cross-Plane combat.
Even the Void Insect Race themselves develop by constructing mother nests in other Planes.
They cannot directly transplant a mature mother nest into another Plane but can only spread mother nest seeds to gradually grow it from a prototype.
If the Wizard Plane utilizes the Void Insect Race as slave creatures, it must first hatch batches of insects through the mother nest and then transport them individually to the Plane Battlefield.
This significantly reduces efficiency because the strength of the Void Insect Race lies in the mother nest; the close connection between insects and the mother nest is most crucial.
Without the mother nest, the insects are like beings without a brain; even if humans command them, it’s never as effective as the mother nest.
This isn’t to say human command is inferior to the mother nest, but the mother nest can perceive the information perspective of each insect individual, allowing precise command of each insect’s actions.
Moreover, such communication is extremely rapid; the mother nest can directly communicate with insect individuals within a certain distance with great convenience.
A Void Insect Race with a mother nest is considered complete, and its effectiveness is maximized.
Thus, wizards are already researching how to transport a complete, cultivated mother nest to the Plane Battlefield directly.
After contemplating for a while, Duke decided to enroll in this task.
For him, there’s still some necessity; the Heart of the Insect Race contains abundant Life Energy, which is the perfect nourishment for the World Tree Seed.
Vivian also received news from the Thorn Holy Tower but doesn’t plan to participate.
Her focus remains in Maple Hill County, where she needs to nurture Earl Hardy’s health first.
Moreover, this mission is not suitable for everyone; it requires a certain Underwater Combat Ability and adaptability.
For wizards, merely moving in the water is simple.
But long-term underwater activities and combat are not achievable by everyone.
The marine environment differs, imposing restrictions and weakening effects on many magics.
Duke can cast the Fireball Technique underwater, but its strength is significantly reduced.
This task will most likely involve wizards adept at Water Magic or who have means to move smoothly underwater.
After deciding to join the mission, Duke also started making preparations.
He regrets his Slave Creature Legion is ineffective underwater.
Previously purchased Slave Creature Legions were meant for land and air combat, not considering underwater scenarios.
Some slave creatures can be selected for underwater combat, but their combat efficacy is lacking.
Duke doesn’t plan to forcibly bring these slave creatures with him; they were bought with Magic Stones, and dying without purpose would be a loss.
Every property must be calculated carefully, without waste.
Among the five slave creatures, only the winged serpent has good Water Combat Ability.
The other four are bulky; they’re formidable on land but clumsy in water.
Whether it’s the giant-jawed ferocious dragon or the rock stomper, they’re absolute rulers of the land, akin to large meat grinders in battle.
But once underwater, their advantages wane too much, unsuitable for this mission.
The winged serpent is well-suited for marine activities, with excellent speed and tactics that work well in water.
Duke plans to take the winged serpent with him and temporarily leave the Storm Dragon Eagle on the Florence Continent.
The Storm Dragon Eagle also has underwater combat capabilities but is only a Level 1 Peak Life, providing limited combat strength, far less than the winged serpent.
Days later, Duke’s application was formally approved by Black Sail, with assembly location and time provided.
Without much delay, Duke entrusted the Maple Hill County’s Slave Creature Legion to Vivian and Earl Hardy before riding alone on the winged serpent, heading in the designated direction.
The destination wasn’t the continent but a mysterious sea region beyond Florence Continent’s coastline.
Guided by coordinates, the winged serpent flew over the vast sea for about half a day until the outline of an island finally appeared on the horizon.
As the distance closed, the island’s view became clearer. Though not large, the island has a peculiar terrain, with a modest peak in the center surrounded by relatively gentle beaches and rocky areas.
At this moment, the originally perhaps desolate island was completely transformed.
The first thing that catches the eye is three Black Sail-style Floating Airships hovering above the island. They’re not in a sailing state but are stationary like aerial fortresses at different heights, the protective runes on the sides subtly flashing, evidently in alert mode.
Further away, there are some Floating Sky Vehicles from other Wizard Organizations or uniquely styled private airships, anchored in designated airspaces following guidance.
Along the island’s shore, the original beach and shallow water areas have been temporarily reinforced and modified, paved with faintly glowing metal plates forming a functional yet simple dock.
Some specially designed submarines with streamlined shapes and water adaptability runes docked there, staff marked with Black Sail skull insignia busily checking them.
Also, some large golems on the dock handled various cargo unloading tasks.
Guiding by air beacons, Duke piloted the winged serpent to land on a specially cleared landing platform on the island side.
The winged serpent’s back isn’t as spacious as the Storm Dragon Eagle, and its slippery skin makes it difficult for ordinary people to stand steady, offering a less comfortable riding experience than the Storm Dragon Eagle.
Upon landing, a salty sea breeze greeted Duke immediately.
Almost simultaneously, a graceful figure approached quickly.
A young woman in a fitted black apprentice robe, with a delicate Black Sail skull badge on her chest indicating her identity.
She seems about sixteen or seventeen years old, with an attractive appearance and bright eyes carrying appropriate respect and curiosity.
