World Awakening: The Legendary Player-Chapter 76: Gacha
Chapter 76: Gacha
Nox listened to the slow, steady rhythm of Serian’s breathing. She was out cold, finally getting some real rest. He sat on the other side of their small prison-house.
He was bored. And his body ached.
His thoughts drifted back to the System. He had leveled up, gotten a bunch of stat points he still hadn’t used, and a new Unique Skill Box from the fight with Lola. But there was another feature he’d been completely ignoring since the gym fight. The Shop.
’Might as well see what it is,’ he thought, leaning his head back against the rough wood of the wall. ’Open the shop.’
A new window popped into his vision, cleaner and more organized than the chaotic god chat. It was a simple layout, with a few tabs across the top.
[Consumables]
[Equipment]
[Skills]
[Materials]
Underneath the tabs was a number.
[Divine Coins: 100]
He remembered Auraelia gifting him those. He clicked on the [Consumables] tab first. A list appeared, and he scrolled through it.
[Minor Health Potion - Heals 50 HP - 25 Divine Coins]
[Minor Mana Potion - Restores 50 MP - 40 Divine Coins]
[Antidote (Common) - Cures low-grade poisons - 15 Divine Coins]
[Stamina Biscuit - Temporarily boosts stamina regen - 10 Divine Coins]
’Forty coins for a mana potion? That’s a ripoff,’ he thought, his brow furrowing. He had 100 coins total. He could buy two health potions and be broke. He clicked on the [Skills] tab next, just to see. The prices there made him scoff.
[Skill Book: Fireball (Beginner) - 1,000 Divine Coins]
[Skill Book: Low Heal (Beginner) - 1,200 Divine Coins]
[Skill Book: Basic Swordsmanship - 800 Divine Coins]
"Yeah, right," he muttered to himself. The prices were insane. There was no way he could afford any of this. It felt like one of those pay-to-win games his classmates used to waste their money on. He was about to close the window out of pure annoyance when his eyes caught a new tab that had just started blinking at the far end of the list. It was flashier than the others, with a little star icon next to it.
[Gacha]
He clicked on it. The screen changed to a single, massive image of a treasure chest with a big, spinning question mark over it.
[Test Your Luck! What Wonders Await?]
[1-Spin: 10 Divine Coins]
[10-Spins (Guaranteed Rare Item!): 100 Divine Coins]
’A gacha? Seriously?’ He almost laughed. It was a total money sink, a system designed to prey on idiots with more money than sense. It was also the only thing on this entire shop he could actually afford.
The ’Guaranteed Rare Item’ part was what got him. It was a trap, he knew it. He’d probably get nine pieces of junk and one slightly-less-junky piece of junk. But what if he got lucky? What if he pulled something good, like one of those skill books? The thought was a tempting itch in the back of his mind.
’This is stupid,’ he thought. ’A total waste of the only money I have.’
He stared at the ’10-Spins’ button for a long, quiet minute.
’Screw it.’
He pressed the button.
The 100 Divine Coins in his balance vanished. The treasure chest on the screen started to shake violently, then it burst open in a flash of cartoony, colorful light. Ten small icons popped out and arranged themselves in a line in front of him.
He looked at the first one.
[Item Acquired: Ambrosia of the Gods (Legendary Consumable) x1 - Fully restores HP/MP, cures all status effects, and grants a temporary +20 to all stats for one hour.]
His eyes widened a little. ’Legendary? On the first pull?’ That was way better than a health potion. He looked at the next icon.
[Skill Acquired: Shadow Step (Rare Active Skill) - Lvl 1: Allows the user to instantly teleport to any shadow within a 30-meter radius. Requires Corrupted Mana.]
A teleport skill. His mind started racing with the possibilities. This was already better than he could have hoped for. The third icon glowed.
[Item Acquired: Heartwood Branch (Mythic Crafting Material) x1 - A branch from the World Tree itself. Can be used to craft an item of immense power.]
The god chat exploded into his vision, their messages a frantic mess.
[Baron Von Cynic] What? Mythic? That has to be a system error. The odds of that are less than zero. This is a bug.
[Lord of Carnage] Three for three. What in the hells is going on? The kid’s luck stat is only 24, I checked! This is rigged!
[Auraelia, Goddess of Resilient Sparks] WOW! GO NOX! I KNEW YOU WERE SPECIAL! ✨ Mythic! That’s amazing!
He ignored them, his eyes locked on the fourth icon.
[Item Acquired: Ring of the Silent Walker (Unique Accessory) - +10 Agility. Passive: Completely silences the wearer’s footsteps.]
He already had the Shadow-Wisp Amulet that muffled his steps. This would make him a ghost. The fifth reward appeared.
[Item Acquired: Vial of Dragon’s Blood (Legendary Potion) x1 - Permanently increases Strength and Endurance by 5 points upon consumption.]
A permanent stat boost. He was starting to feel a little dizzy. This wasn’t just good luck; this was impossible. He glanced at the sixth, seventh, and eighth icons.
[Title Acquired: Favored by Fortune - Passive: Slightly increases the quality of loot drops from all sources.]
[Item Acquired: Potion of a Thousand Faces (Rare Consumable) x3 - Allows the user to perfectly disguise their appearance as any person they have seen for 24 hours.]
[Item Acquired: Soulgem of the Void (Legendary Material) x1 - A crystallized piece of nothingness. Used in forbidden enchantment arts.]
[Lady Veritas] This is an abomination. The System is broken. Such fortune is not earned; it is a sign of a deeper imbalance. This cannot be allowed.
[Trickster God Hermes IV] Someone just hacked the universe’s RNG. I’m not even mad, that’s impressive. I want to know how he’s doing it! 😂
The ninth icon was a simple, pulsing plus sign.
[Bonus Acquired: +20 Unallocated Stat Points.]
His mind was reeling. He had just gotten more in ten seconds of a stupid gacha game than he had in days of fighting for his life. Finally, he looked at the tenth icon, the one that was guaranteed to be rare. It was glowing with a light far brighter than all the others.
[Item Acquired: Seed of Corruption (Mythic Seed) - A nascent core of corrupted power. When absorbed via the Core Integration skill, it will directly upgrade the user’s existing mana core and affinity. Warning: The process is extremely volatile and may have unpredictable results.]
He just stared at the list of rewards laid out in front of him. Ambrosia. A teleport skill. A permanent stat potion. A Mythic crafting material, a legendary one too, and a seed that could upgrade his entire power source.
This wasn’t luck. This defied all logic. Even with a low luck stat, the odds of pulling even one of these things was probably astronomical. Getting ten in a row?
A slow, dangerous grin spread across his face. He didn’t know why this happened. He didn’t know if the System was broken or if he was just some kind of anomaly.
And he didn’t care.
’Well,’ he thought, the grin widening. ’That was worth it.’
