"Why did you leave your post again?" the Great Elder asked, looking at the returning Wang Linchi. This fellow is getting far too brazen.

Yet, he couldn't reprimand Wang Linchi, mainly because Wang Linchi hadn't committed any major offenses and possessed significant backing. If anyone else had dared to act so recklessly, they might have been severely punished for even a minor infraction, like misappropriating a single coin.

But not Wang Linchi. The Elder Group was well aware of his numerous unscrupulous deeds, such as human experimentation and Heroic Spirit experimentation. Yet, each time, he managed to silence them with impressive results.

Because of Wang Linchi's corporation, the Federation's military technology advanced at an extremely rapid pace. The latest Energy Soldiers had already reached a power level equivalent to a seventh-awakening Heroic Spirit. Although their production cost was high, it was still considerably cheaper than training a Heroic Spirit to the seventh awakening. More importantly, as new iterations were developed, the costs were also decreasing. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Besides the Energy Soldiers serving as combat units, developments in medical and biological fields were also progressing smoothly. Biochemical Warriors, Genetic Soldiers, and various other Transformed Humans had emerged, ensuring that ordinary people were no longer a negligible force on the Cracks Battlefield. The strength of these Transformed Humans was roughly equivalent to that of a second-awakening individual. Furthermore, they had complete advancement paths, which led many who couldn't become Summoners to undergo these various transformations.

This was why, no matter how grave Wang Linchi's transgressions were, the Federation would invariably downplay them. If Wang Linchi were to disappear, the New Energy Heavy Industries Group would immediately collapse. All the technology was provided by Wang Linchi, which was then studied and tested by the corporation's researchers before being developed into effective products and sold to the Federation. Therefore, the corporation was, in reality, just an empty shell. If they were to turn against him now, they would only gain access to its low-to-mid-level technologies. Every Elder in the Elder Group was certain that Wang Linchi possessed even more advanced technologies.

"Recent developments have been too slow," Wang Linchi remarked, fiddling with a decorative item on the Great Elder's desk, looking as if he might just slip it into his pocket.

The Great Elder's eye twitched, but he allowed Wang Linchi to continue, asking, "Have you discovered something?"

"Some minor issues concerning the Spacetime Rifts and the Annihilation Disaster," Wang Linchi said, putting down the ornament. He continued with a grave expression, "I wonder if the Great Elder has noticed the cycle of the Spacetime Rift appearances."

"You're referring to the fact that the intervals between Spacetime Rift appearances have been getting shorter in recent years, aren't you?" The Great Elder stopped writing.

Of course, he was aware of this. Matters related to the Spacetime Rifts were monitored and recorded by a dedicated team, with reports subsequently submitted to the Council.

"Precisely. The interval between the current North River Spacetime Rift and the previous South Rotating Space-Time Fissure was merely six years. The interval between the South Rotating Space-Time Fissure and the Southern Desert Spacetime before it was a full twenty-one years. And tracing further back, the time between each Spacetime Rift was progressively longer."

"This indicates that if our Luck is poor, we might face another new Spacetime Rift in just one or two years."

"Even if we manage to withstand the next one, should three or four more Spacetime Rifts appear consecutively, the Federation will be crushed," Wang Linchi stated solemnly.

The Great Elder sighed. "Of course, I'm aware of this. But there are no solutions."

"What? Have you already found a way to deal with it?"

Currently, the Federation had no solutions for the shortening intervals between Spacetime Rift occurrences. They couldn't even understand the underlying logic, let alone identify the root cause.

"No, but I have a stopgap measure," Wang Linchi said, taking out a prepared proposal.

"The Ark Plan?" What does 'Ark' signify in this plan? The Great Elder wasn't entirely sure, but this didn't stop him from reading on. The further he read, the more horrified he became.

"Energy Life, a Collective Consciousness... isn't this a bit too insane?"

"And the final part of the plan... an 'Ark Aggregate' that can traverse worlds? How could it traverse worlds? We simply don't have the capability for that!" This is preposterous! The Great Elder strongly felt like rejecting Wang Linchi's plan outright.

The most fundamental aspect, Energy Life, involved emulating the unique structure of Heroic Spirits to transform everyone into energy beings akin to Heroic Spirits. If successful, as long as their own energy wasn't depleted, they would be Immortal. The Collective Consciousness was the next stage after Energy Life. It entailed merging the consciousness of every individual to form a completely new 'brain.' This 'brain' would be the unified entity of all people, possessing immense computational and logical power, thereby providing a unified direction for humanity. However, this presented a very serious problem: it required extracting everyone's brain and preserving them in containers to serve as the initial vessels. The plan argued, though, that once the Energy Life transformation was achieved, the physical body would become redundant. Therefore, extracting the brain wouldn't pose a significant problem. These two projects were merely the beginning of Wang Linchi's Ark Plan. It detailed even more monstrous schemes, such as 'human batteries' and 'consciousness conversion.'

If the Federation dared to publicly announce this plan, it would incite a rebellion even before any part of it was implemented.

"Having everyone undergo Energy Ascension to become the Ark Aggregate is how we achieve the conditions for salvation," Wang Linchi declared.

"You can choose not to accept it; it's just a proposal, after all. I merely happen to possess the necessary technology," Wang Linchi said calmly. For me, this is actually a good thing, he thought. At least when the time for Devouring comes, I'll have one more project to consume.

Therefore, he would push for it vigorously. As for whether it could be implemented, there was actually little doubt. As the Spacetime Rifts became more frequent, the Federation would inevitably be unable to withstand the pressure, not to mention the subsequent Annihilation Disaster and potential world collisions. Then, in their desperation to survive, there was a ninety percent probability they would opt for Wang Linchi's plan. Since the true danger had not yet arrived, it was natural for them to question Wang Linchi.

The Great Elder also composed himself. The Ark Plan is indeed insane, but when the survival of civilization and the species is at stake, perhaps such measures are not out of the question.

"Can you tell me the origin of this plan and its technology?" the Great Elder felt compelled to ask. What if there's a hidden catch?

The technological disparity between them and Wang Linchi was immense. It would be incredibly difficult to fully comprehend the details, let alone identify any potential flaws.

"Take a guess," Wang Linchi replied. I can't possibly reveal that it was derived by a Civilization Computer. It's all theoretical, never put into practice... though the data indicates a seventy percent chance of success.

"I don't have time for games. Will you tell me or not?" The Great Elder's hand rested on the Ark Plan proposal, his tone stern.

"No. What would be the point of telling you?" Wang Linchi retorted.

"Indeed, there's no point." Hearing this, the Great Elder finally sighed and didn't press further. This isn't the time to force a confrontation.

"The proposal is with you. If you decide to implement it, notify me anytime. I will provide the Federation with the technology."

"Remember, you need to be quick. Implementing the proposal will take time. Don't wait until it's too late; by then, even the best plan will be impossible to execute," Wang Linchi said, rising to leave.

"Wait," the Great Elder called out as Wang Linchi reached the door.

"Let's begin preliminary execution." In the end, the Great Elder relented. The proposal is insane, but it's also a path to survival, he thought, then continued aloud, "Designate an experimental zone as the implementation site."

This means we'll test it first. If there are no issues and the impending crisis is confirmed, then it will absolutely have to be fully implemented. For instance, if the next Spacetime Rift were to appear soon, then there would truly be no time to lose.

"Send someone to liaise with my corporation. The technical data is in the safe. You should know which one; retrieve it yourself," Wang Linchi finished, then leisurely departed.

The Great Elder watched him go, momentarily speechless.

According to the speculations of his think tank, 'Wang Xianyu's' technology likely originated from one of two sources: either it was super-ancient technology, or it came from a Different World. Currently, the prevailing speculation favored the latter, implying that Wang Linchi was either a visitor from a Different World or had mastered the ability to communicate with or travel to one. It's unclear which is true, the Great Elder mused, but either possibility offers a sliver of hope for our world.

In fact, regardless of the technology's origin, the Federation had a trump card: the Annihilation Disaster itself. They could leverage the Annihilation Disaster to coerce a Different World into accepting them. If they truly had no other recourse, they would inevitably drag that other world down with them, forcing it to share in the cataclysm of the Annihilation Disaster.

However, there was insufficient evidence for any of these conjectures. Furthermore, 'Wang Xianyu' had shown no exploitable weaknesses, making it impossible for them to find any clues or obtain critical information. Considering his status and influence, all they could do for now was continue to observe.
