Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back-Chapter 318: President Hawthorne, Your Back Isn’t Holding Up
Tanya Sinclair didn’t expect that Vincent Hawthorne and Declan Pierce would end up in the same group.
But since they were facing off, there was nothing to be done.
Caden looked at his father approaching with a dark expression, then glanced at Declan, momentarily unsure of whom to cheer for.
"Brother!" Joy called out loudly, waving at him, "Brother, come on! Aren’t you going to cheer for me and dad?"
Caden: "..."
In the end, Caden chose not to pick sides.
"Big bro is calling me, I’ll go back to class now, Joy, and come find you later. Dad, Mom, Uncle Pierce, I’m off." With that, Caden slipped away.
It’s too hard, he’s just a kid; he can’t keep everything even!
"Go Uncle Pierce!" Abby encouraged Declan with her tiny fist clenched.
"Alright." Declan nodded slightly, then looked over at Tanya behind Abby, "Any encouragement for me?"
"Are you a kid?" Tanya chuckled, somehow finding the tamed Declan like a big playful dog.
She tiptoed slightly and reached out to pat his head.
"Go for it, Mr. Pierce." She smiled sweetly, just about to retract her hand, when Declan seized the moment and pulled her into his embrace.
He glanced at Abby beside them.
"Abby, close your eyes."
Abby obediently covered her eyes.
Tanya hadn’t yet processed what was happening; suddenly, Declan’s handsome face was magnified in her view, his lips warm on hers, playfully nibbling at her lips. His eyes clearly filled with amusement.
"Done."
"..."
Tanya couldn’t believe Declan was so bold, with people all around the field.
Her cheeks flushed to her ears, she gave him a light push. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"How come I never realized before how shameless you are..."
Declan’s grin widened, "Ms. Sinclair, you’re my girlfriend. This isn’t shameless, this is..." he whispered into her ear, "irresistible passion."
"..." Tanya’s already burning ears turned completely red, "Alright, go on."
Only then did Declan release her, turning around to take his position.
Vincent was already waiting there, having seen Declan and Tanya so cozy made his chest feel suffocated, his face dark enough to drip ink. Even Ms. Underwood helping him with the elastic band was cautiously reserved.
"Mr. Hawthorne, if you don’t want to team up with Mr. Pierce, I can find another parent to swap..."
"No need." Vincent declined, staring coldly at Declan approaching, "It’s not me who’s going to be embarrassed later."
He wanted Tanya to see clearly who was better between him and Declan!
Meanwhile, Declan couldn’t even bother to glance at him directly.
The elastic band fastened around their waists, they had to run in opposite directions, with Abby and Joy standing in circles on either side, holding cake to feed them.
Whoever finished the cake first would win!
"Go, Dad!!" Joy shouted loudly.
She was the little darling and boss of the class, surrounded by numerous kids.
"Go Joy!"
"My dad will definitely win!" Joy declared proudly, "My dad is the best!"
And she certainly wouldn’t lose to that little beggar!
Surrounding Abby was a crowd of parents from other classes, captivated by Declan’s striking appearance, snapping photos, forming several layers deep.
As Ms. Underwood blew the whistle to start the competition, the pairing of Vincent Hawthorne and Declan Pierce undoubtedly became the main focus of the whole field.
As soon as the sound of the whistle blew, the tug of war began!
Vincent charged toward his daughter with all his might, but soon felt the strong resistance from the elastic band around his waist. He was helplessly dragged backward by Declan, leaving a pair of marks on the grass beneath their feet.
It wasn’t even a contest; it was one-sided domination by Declan.
Ten seconds!
Declan finished the cake that Abby fed him.
Ms. Underwood announced the result, "Mr. Pierce and Abby win!"
Declan carelessly glanced back at Vincent, delivering a cutting remark, "President Hawthorne, seems like your back isn’t up to par."
Vincent’s face turned green with anger, he was raging inside!
"Yay! Uncle Pierce is awesome!!" Abby jumped for joy, pulling Tanya excitedly to claim her prize.
Joy glared at their backs furiously, tossing the cake in her hands onto the ground.
Behind her, voices of a few kids were murmuring.
"Who’s that Uncle Pierce of Abby’s? He’s so handsome, even better looking than Joy’s dad!"
"Doesn’t he look like a prince from a cartoon?"
"How come the babysitter at Joy’s place is with Abby? Could she actually be Abby’s mom? She’s so pretty too!"
Joy’s face reddened as she turned around abruptly, refuting loudly, "She’s not that little beggar Abby’s mom! She’s my mom!!"
Caden had been watching from the sidelines all along; he suspected his dad might not be a match for Uncle Pierce and knew his sister couldn’t handle losing. So, he took the gold medal he had won earlier to cheer Joy up, but overheard her calling Abby a little beggar.
"Joy! You can’t say that about Abby!" Caden’s small face serious, "Abby’s parents are remarkable Doctors Without Borders. They can’t come back to raise Abby because they’re saving lives! Joy, you need to apologize!"
