Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back-Chapter 337: What a Coincidence
Vincent Hawthorne looked at Tanya Sinclair before him, whose eyes were full of mockery. His lips parted slightly, wanting to say something, but the words were stuck in his throat.
Tanya Sinclair’s reaction was beyond his expectations...
Vincent originally planned to be a bit more shameless. If Tanya Sinclair didn’t know that Cindy Lynn’s departure was related to Declan Pierce, he could take credit for it with a thick skin, hoping to soften Tanya’s attitude toward him, even just a little.
Even if Tanya already knew that Declan Pierce dealt with Cindy Lynn in secret, that would be perfect. Based on his understanding of Tanya, her fear of Declan would probably outweigh her gratitude.
After all, the Tanya he knew was kind and principled. Someone like Declan, who used power and status to easily erase Cindy Lynn’s dubious actions, should step on Tanya’s moral bottom line...
"Tanya." Vincent frowned, trying to analyze the paranoia and terror of Declan Pierce with Tanya. "Declan is obsessed with you now. He likes you and is willing to fight Cindy Lynn for you. But in the future, if he loses interest in you, what means will he use to deal with you? Cindy Lynn’s present might be your future!"
"I know you’re a genius in scientific research and have experts and scholars protecting you, but if Declan wants to harm you one day, no one can protect you! Tanya, you and Declan are people from two different worlds! Even if you don’t think for yourself, think about the two kids!" Vincent was worried, "A madman like Declan, what wouldn’t he do? If he really does something to Caden and Joy..."
"Shut up!" Tanya struggled to control her emotions, but couldn’t stop herself from trembling. Fury almost burst from her eyes. "I wish the worst for Cindy Lynn and her family! And don’t think that just because you’re selfish and ungrateful, all men in the world are like you! You can’t even compare to a strand of Declan’s hair! Even if everyone in the world betrays me, he won’t. He loves me more than anyone else!"
Vincent looked at Tanya, whose eyes reddened with emotion as she defended Declan. He couldn’t help but think if she was spellbound!
"How long have you known Declan anyway? What kind of charm potion did he give you?" Vincent found it unbelievable and reminded her in a deep voice, "Weren’t you annoyed with him during those four years of college? And now you’re head over heels? Haha, Tanya, you’re still too naive and don’t understand men at all!"
"Now, get out of my house immediately." Tanya could barely stand talking to him any longer.
If it weren’t for the fact that Caden was downstairs, she would have grabbed a stick and driven Vincent out!
Downstairs, Aunt Tawny perked up her ears, listening to the commotion upstairs. She poked her head out at the staircase in time, "Ma’am, if anyone wants to linger here, I’ll call Mason right away! He’ll be here in three minutes!"
Vincent: "..."
Vincent had no choice but to leave. As he drove halfway, he grew more restless, burning with an unquenchable fire. He parked the car on the side of the road, took out a cigarette from the glove compartment, and began to smoke.
Recalling Tanya’s protective stance when mentioning Declan earlier, like a mother hen safeguarding her chicks, made him even more agitated. Just as he was about to light a second cigarette, he received a call from Cody Crawford.
"Brother Hawthorne, I’ve organized a gathering. Want to come out for a drink? You’ve been so busy lately, I’ve almost forgotten what you look like."
"..." Vincent put the cigarette back into the pack and said, "Send me the address."
It was in a high-end club they frequently visited, known for its privacy.
Vincent tossed the car keys to the valet at the entrance, mentioned Cody’s name, and was immediately led to the private room by a server with model-like features.
As the door opened, Cody was there along with some familiar faces, friends from childhood who were more like drinking buddies without deep ties. There were also a few small-time celebrities invited for fun.
Vincent casually greeted them and was about to sit next to Cody when his gaze landed in a corner, partially blocked by a Roman column, on Rhys Lucas.
Their eyes met, and Cody quickly stepped in to mediate, worried they might argue again.
"Oh, come on, guys. You’ve known each other since you were little. There’s no need to fall out over a woman, especially when that Lin isn’t anything good! It’s not worth it, really not!"
Vincent paused for a moment, then turned to walk toward Rhys. Cody was so frightened he almost followed, but relaxed only when he saw Vincent sit next to Rhys and clink glasses with him.
Actually, Cody was right. It’s just a woman. Once Rhys realized what kind of person Cindy Lynn was, he quickly extricated himself. Now, even mentioning her name felt embarrassing to him.
Rhys glanced at Vincent and sharply pointed out, "Just came from Tanya’s place?"
Vincent: "?"
Rhys chuckled, taking a sip of his drink, "Your face looks like crap. You obviously hit a wall with Tanya, didn’t you?"
Vincent: "...Shut up."
Rhys twirled his bottle.
"You’re quite amusing. Didn’t see you valuing her much before, but now that you’re divorced, you’re finding any excuse to get close to her every now and then? Are you trying to rekindle old flames?"
Vincent gulped down his drink, and after a while, replied with boozy breath, "I just can’t accept it. She loved me for so many years and even had two kids for me. Now, how long has it been since the divorce? She’s already with Declan! How can Tanya forget so quickly?"
Rhys paused midway with his bottle, frowning slightly, "Are you saying Tanya’s really with Declan now?"
Vincent: "Ha, they’re already living together."
Rhys recalled meeting Declan abroad a few years ago, speaking with a peculiar tone, "Then pray that Declan stays interested in her for a while. Really hope they don’t break up. And give her a heads-up not to get entangled if they ever do. Declan’s a madman... he really might kill someone."
He had witnessed it, just once, but it left a deep impression.
"What did you just say?" Vincent straightened up, his face flushed with alcohol as he looked at Rhys, asking, "You saw Declan do what?"
Rhys had some reservations about The Pierce Family. Seeing that no one was paying attention, he lowered his voice, "I saw Declan a few years ago when I was abroad. It was at a death-gambling boxing club. It was a place where those rich kids who had lost their minds would play. Those who stepped into that ring were usually so broke they had nowhere else to get money, betting their lives for cash, injecting a lot of banned substances to enhance their strength."
"Each of those men had muscles so insanely large, they didn’t even look human. But Declan was different; it was like he was courting death... of course, he didn’t die in the end, but everyone else did."
Even now, Rhys found it unfathomable, "He seemed to enjoy and relish that scene. When he glanced at me from the audience, I felt chills down my bones. Never imagined The Pierce Family would have such a madman..."
Suddenly, Vincent pressed his arm, "What was that boxing place called, which city was it in? Whatever you know about Declan, tell me!"
"..." Rhys guessed Vincent’s intention, pulling away and warning, "Are you crazy? You want to investigate Declan?"
Vincent’s expression turned cold, "He’s just an illegitimate child. The Pierce Family only acknowledges Zeke Pierce."
He didn’t believe Tanya could forget him and fall for Declan in such a short time! Declan must have used some trick! He had to uncover it!
Rhys: "..."
In fact, he always felt that Declan was even more terrifying than Zeke Pierce.
Just at this moment, a server came in to deliver drinks. She knelt at Vincent’s feet, wearing a white uniform that fit tightly and outlined her curves.
Vincent glanced at her a few times, his gaze resting on her young face, slightly pausing.
Rhys also looked over, squinting his eyes slightly.
This face, it looked about seventy percent like Tanya from their university days...
Suddenly, Vincent asked, "How old are you?"
The server timidly raised her eyes, knowing that everyone in this room was someone she couldn’t afford to offend.
"Twenty."
"Still in school?"
"Yes, in my third year. I’m working part-time here, Mr. Hawthorne."
Vincent leaned in with interest, "You know me?"
The server replied softly, "I... I submitted a resume to The Hawthorne Group, but got filtered out during the interview."
Vincent interrupted her, "Name?"
"Leah Thorne. Thorne, like the plum blossom..."
Rhys raised an eyebrow, letting out a light laugh.
What a coincidence, a "Thorne" with the same sound as the "Tang" used in Tanya’s name.
