Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back-Chapter 364: Wynn, Be Good
Tanya Sinclair didn’t really want to engage, but Vincent Hawthorne stepped forward anxiously, blocking her from getting into the car.
A few security guards at the school entrance immediately noticed the situation here.
They didn’t come over but instead kept an eye on the circumstances.
Tanya Sinclair looked at Vincent Hawthorne coldly: "If I shout right now, you’ll end up being pinned down, President Hawthorne. I advise you to step aside."
"Tanya, I really have something I need your help with," Vincent said softly.
Tanya Sinclair: "Not interested."
Vincent Hawthorne: "Can you do it for Caden and Joy?"
Tanya Sinclair’s originally indifferent expression slightly softened, and Vincent quietly let out a sigh of relief. He knew that the children were Tanya’s weakness. She might be indifferent to him and despaired of The Hawthorne Family, but as long as the children were involved, Tanya could never completely sever ties with him and The Hawthorne Family.
"This isn’t the place to talk. There’s a café nearby. Let’s sit and chat, okay? I won’t take up much of your time, just half an hour, can we?"
"..." Tanya Sinclair frowned, pondering for a moment, and eventually agreed, "Just half an hour."
Café.
The winter sun filtered in through the window, lacking warmth, and through a layer of glass, it left only a cold brightness.
The waiter came over and asked what they’d like to drink, Vincent Hawthorne instinctively opened his mouth: "Two Americanos, please."
Tanya Sinclair interrupted: "I’ll just have a latte."
Vincent was slightly taken aback, his eyes looking at Tanya with a complicated expression. But she remained calmly indifferent, not even meeting his gaze.
He still lingered on the past, but in truth, the Tanya Sinclair who used to follow his preferences had long disappeared. She vanished the moment she woke from her vegetative state.
Vincent laughed bitterly, mockingly to himself.
"Sorry, I ordered for you without even asking your taste." He looked at Tanya, earnest, "You drink latte, noted."
Tanya Sinclair simply found it amusing.
They had been entangled for fifteen years, once shared a bed, but it was only after the divorce, when she stopped loving, that this man finally started respecting her, acknowledging her preferences.
Tanya glanced at the time and casually asked, "What do you want to ask?"
Vincent took a deep breath, looking troubled: "Yvonne was following Felix Kendall, and now no one knows where she is. I asked Rhys Lucas to look into it, but the information is vague. The last sighting of Yvonne was at the international airport on Gralen Island. After that, she completely vanished."
Upon hearing this, Tanya frowned.
Strictly speaking, Gralen Island is a neutral zone because of its geographic location at the intersection of three countries’ maritime boundaries. Combined with its complicated terrain and abundant resources, each of the three countries desired control. Ultimately, all three sent troops to garrison the island.
Along with the original islanders’ self-established government and armed forces, there are four powers intertwined, peaceful until recent turmoil; Gralen Island now qualifies as a dangerous region.
The domestic tourism departments have issued warnings against visiting.
Most crucially...
Tanya cradled her coffee cup, her gaze slightly darkened.
She received news from Grandpa Kendall that Felix Kendall’s team reportedly withdrew from Gralen Island at the time, except for Felix, who didn’t return...
"Tanya. You’re close with The Kendall Family, I’m asking you to help me be a mediator." Vincent implored, "Felix Kendall’s identity is special, and Old Master Kendall would use all means to find him. But Yvonne isn’t related to them; even if she went for Felix, The Kendalls won’t care about her. Can you help get Yvonne safely back..."
Tanya looked at Vincent.
"Felix Kendall went on a mission, while Yvonne went merely to create trouble. If she indeed ends up in a disaster, that’s her problem. I’m under no obligation, nor do I have the right, to ask The Kendalls to bring Yvonne back."
Vincent felt a twinge of urgency: "Tanya, I know you and Yvonne don’t get along. But she’s still the kids’ aunt..."
Tanya interrupted him impatiently, standing up, "I’ve never stopped the kids from interacting with your family. Yvonne is their aunt, of course. So, if something happens to her and she dies abroad as a result of her foolishness, I’ll bring Caden and Joy to her grave for Qingming Festival to pay respects."
Though Tanya was speaking truthfully, Vincent couldn’t help but feel embarrassed about his own sister.
"Are you cursing Yvonne to die?"
"I don’t care enough to curse her. Whether she lives or dies, I couldn’t care less. If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave now."
With that, Tanya stood up and walked straight out. Passing the cashier, she settled the bill without sparing Vincent a glance before heading out.
Vincent sat there, a somber expression on his face for a few minutes before getting up to leave. As he reached the door, a waiter stopped him.
Waiter: "Sir! Wait a moment, you haven’t paid the bill yet."
"What?" Vincent frowned at her, "Didn’t the lady accompanying me pay at the counter?"
Waiter: "Oh, she did pay. But she only paid for her latte."
Vincent: "..."
On the other side, Tanya drove back to the Sinclair family’s old residence.
While waiting at a red light, she idly checked WeChat. Declan hadn’t sent her a message today.
Usually, when he woke up, he’d send her a good morning.
Tanya opened the chat. Actually, neither of them were verbose; if they wanted to see each other, they would directly visit unless they were tied up; otherwise, they would call.
Text was unemotional, often failing to convey meaning.
Tanya wanted to know what he was up to. She hesitated but sent him a message: [The weather’s nice today, remember to enjoy the sunshine].
After sending the message, the traffic light turned red.
Tanya focused on driving, but Declan responded quickly.
She glanced at it, a single word.
Declan: [Okay].
Tanya smiled. She didn’t find his one-word reply cold because she could imagine the gentle expression on Declan’s face when he answered her.
That’s a side of Declan only she could see.
Another intersection, today seemed unlucky, having hit two consecutive red lights.
Tanya stopped the car, her attention drawn to an LED screen on a building’s exterior wall.
Just a glance, and she couldn’t look away.
[The Pierce Consortium’s new president makes a high-profile appearance domestically, attending the year-end event].
On the screen was Declan Pierce in a tailored suit, surrounded by high-level executives.
Such a handsome face, appearing on the big screen, was striking. He carried himself with a detached elegance, an aura of sophistication emanated from his deep-set eyes, nodding slightly toward the camera. His gaze was penetrating, almost breaking through the screen, evoking a subconscious urge to submit.
In the next instant, Declan seemed to hear someone’s voice, and his initially cold and indifferent eyes suddenly softened, turning slightly toward the source, followed by the reporter’s camera.
Tanya saw the woman sitting in the corner behind Declan.
Though it lasted only two seconds before being blocked by a bodyguard, Tanya saw it clearly.
Along with the woman’s name, it surfaced in her mind.
——Wynn.
Wynn Winslow.
She recalled the morning Declan left Phoenix Court and answered that call on the balcony.
’Wynn, be good...’
