Chapter 149 - Jubilee's full power

[Earth – France – The Crater Zone]

The battlefield was a nightmare of burning ruins and screaming sky. The air pulsed with a sickening hum as more fissures opened, spreading red light like wounds across the Earth. The N'Garai shrieked, tearing into what remained of the broken cityscape. Each breath felt heavier. Each second brought more death.

In the midst of the chaos, Jubilee and Natasha fought back-to-back along with the others, sweat and blood mingling with ash as they moved through the sea of enemies.

"Behind you!" Jubilee shouted, launching a plasma burst that seared through an airborne demon before it could strike Natasha.

Natasha spun, fired a round through another creature's eye, and nodded. "Thanks. That's three I owe you."

Jubilee gave a shaky smile. "Better pay up in burger and coke when we're done with this."

Above them, dark clouds swirled unnaturally. The atmosphere trembled. Magic rippled in the air like a predator sniffing for prey.

And it found them.

Chthon, deep within the Flickering Realms, smiled.

His form was still regenerating, his burned arm wrapped in tendrils of Chaos Magic, but his eyes... they burned brighter now. Clearer. Hungry.

He had felt it earlier. A pulse from the Phoenix Force, not just in Wanda, but in the others. Two of them. Fragments. Traces of the eternal flames.

Jubilee.

Natasha Romanoff.

They had both been marked by the Phoenix, in subtle ways. Not as hosts, but tethered by fate. Carriers of emotion. Of meaning. Of vulnerability.

He licked his lips slowly, the sound wet and serpentine.

"The Phoenix... burns bright," he whispered, "but even stars flicker... when the heart that feeds them breaks."

He extended his hand, and the fabric of space trembled.

He began the summoning.

His voice did not echo in the human tongue. It hissed and coiled like a living spell, woven from madness and decay. The sky above France twisted again, and the clouds peeled open like a gaping maw.

Down below, Jubilee froze.

Her hands were mid-attack when the air suddenly dropped ten degrees. Her breath hitched. Her chest tightened. Her heart skipped.

"Something's wrong," she whispered.

Natasha was already raising her guns, scanning the sky.

A massive shadow began to descend.

It wasn't like the others. This was no demon or beast.

This was Chthon's will, woven into form.

It looked vaguely human, but its body was made of coiling dark tendrils and chaotic flame, crowned with horns of raw entropy. Its face looked like one of those freaking tentacle monsters from hentai manga.

Natasha stepped in front of Jubilee without hesitation, eyes narrowing. "Fall back. Now."

Jubilee tried to protest, but the moment she opened her mouth, the creature's gaze landed on her.

Everything froze.

The battlefield shuddered.

Buildings groaned.

The winds screamed.

And then...

BOOM.

A voice tore through the fabric of reality.

An intense wave of pressure pressed down... A weight that could crush every soul on the ground. It silenced thought. It froze breath. The moment it hit, it felt like the Earth itself recoiled.

The sky above France turned blood red. Dozens of glowing crimson eyes opened inside the swirling clouds, each one peering down with ancient, malicious intent. The clouds moved like living flesh, pulsing with dark energy.

Then the voice spoke.

It entered their minds directly.

"Silence."

The battlefield came to a stop.

The N'Garai froze mid-attack.

The heroes stood still.

Even the flames across the city froze.

Chthon's voice filled every space between every heartbeat. It was deep, cracked, and broken. It sounded like something clawing at the edges of existence itself. Every word bled into the soul like poison.

"This world was never yours."

"It was a playground for the Gods. A battlefield for Titans. A canvas for chaos. And now..."

The sky pulsed. Lightning made of black flame streaked across the clouds.

"...it returns to its rightful master."

From the red clouds above, beams of chaotic energy rained down, striking the Earth across different parts of the globe. Each one opened a glowing portal to the Flickering Realms. The rifts groaned as if alive, stretching wider with each passing second.

Dozens of them. Hundreds. All across the planet.

They throbbed with Chthon's presence.

Then his attention shifted.

Toward Jubilee and Natasha.

The cloud-formed figure in the sky leaned lower. The horizon bent unnaturally to make space for him. Every shadow stretched toward the two women.

His next words came soft. Too soft.

"You... are touched by the fire."

"You... are tethered to the bird."

Chthon's magic coiled through the air, wrapping itself around the battlefield but never striking. It held back. Waiting.

"You are anchors of the Phoenix. Beacons, it cannot ignore."

"So I offer a choice."

The ground beneath Jubilee and Natasha cracked. Red magic swirled around their feet like smoke, but it didn't attack. It held them in place.

"Come to me. Obedient. Willing. Whole."

"Surrender yourselves, and this world will be spared."

The clouds swelled, lightning pulsing through them in jagged bursts.

"Refuse..."

The air trembled.

Across the planet, the other portals flared violently. Magic leaked through the cracks. N'Garai shrieked behind the rifts, waiting to pour into the world.

"And I will open every rift. Every gate. Every realm."

"I will let my children feed on this world until nothing remains."

"I will burn it all to ash."

Then silence.

The red glow from the portals held steady. Chthon's presence loomed over the Earth, waiting.

Natasha tightened her grip on her pistols. Her teeth clenched.

However, Jubilee couldn't stop herself from laughing out loud, "Hehehe... Hahahahaha! Yeah, right?" She looked toward Natasha and then the other heroes. She smiled. Her body began to glow with a blue hue as she slowly flew to the sky.

Her body glowed brighter with each passing second. Her eyes blazed white, her skin shimmering like glass as if she were being consumed from the inside. The air around her warped and cracked. Her skeleton pulsed visibly through her transparent skin, veins lit with radiant blue fire.

Her voice echoed with fierce calm.

"I'm gonna blast your ass."

Natasha's eyes widened as she stepped back, shielding her face from the rising heat. Even from a distance, the pressure was immense. The ground beneath Jubilee began to liquefy, her energy surging in every direction. Trees melted. Asphalt peeled away like paper.

Tony's voice crackled over the comms, panicked.

"The energy readings are off the charts. What the hell is she doing?"

"Using her full power," Logan grinned, seeing Jubilee taking the limelight for the first time. The girl who always pranked and annoyed others and was often looked down on by others is taking up the front stage. He kinda felt proud of her. "DO IT! DO WHAT YOU ALWAYS DO. BLAST THAT BASTARD'S ASS."

Jubilee's hands extended outward. The tips of her fingers cracked open, and from within, a blinding concentration of sub-atomic particles began to swirl. A tiny point of unimaginable energy formed at her palms.

Her body trembled violently. Her clothes burned to ash in an instant. Her hair disintegrated strand by strand, floating away like embers. Naked, radiant, and more powerful than anyone had ever seen her, she screamed with everything she had.

"SUB-ATOMIC BLAST!"

The sky ignited.

The point of energy at her palms collapsed inward, then erupted.

The explosion was beyond color, beyond light. It was raw destruction compressed into a singular moment, then released in every direction at once.

A dome of atomic fire expanded outward with her at the center, swallowing the air, the clouds, the red rift above, and the very fabric of the Flickering Realms' portal network in its blast radius.

The creature Chthon had sent, his will made form, was the first to disintegrate. It didn't even have time to scream. It simply ceased to exist.

The surrounding sky peeled back like skin under a blade.

The N'Garai caught in the radius were turned into particles. Screams echoed for a millisecond before being erased. However, her flames didn't hurt her allies. Thanks to Aron's training, she now has full control over her mutation.

Within seconds, it was all over...

Jubilee felt so tired...

Her eyes felt so heavy...

Her body returned to normal, but she was falling...

Suddenly, a blue portal opened, and a man emerged from inside. He took Jubilee in his arms and used his power to put clothes on her body, but decided not to help her grow her hair. Why? She did make fun of him last time when he used this power. He was simply returning the favor.

He landed on the scorched ground. Before him was Natasha, looking at him with teary eyes.

"Yo!" He simply waved his hand toward her.
