You Will Only Be Mine-Chapter 473: Picture
I went back to the class meeting Ai at the door. We almost bumped into each other, but she, instead of just unintentionally hitting against each other, jumped at me and wrapped her arms around me. We, of course, got plenty of stares, which I decided to ignore and focus on the half vampire nuzzling her face against my chest.
"Did you get enough of my smell now?" I asked, patting her back.
"Nope, but I think I can move on with the end of school with this much," she said, pulling away and turning towards her friends, who were grinning ear to ear. What are they plotting?
"So, we go back to our seats before Sensei sees this and hits us?" I asked as a hand landed on both our heads, and we rubbed it in pain.
"You are a little too late for that," Sensei said, standing behind me, looking visibly annoyed. "How many times do I have to repeat this to you two?"
"We’re sorry," we immediately apologized to her. I think this action will have consequences.
We were sent back to our seats, and in the corner of my eye, I could see the guys trying their best to hold back a laugh. My phone buzzed, and I checked the group seeing them teasing me there. I wanted to say something, but I couldn’t really come up with anything. I just sent a sticker of a dog with his soul leaving his body, and put the phone back in my pocket.
The next period was of Sensei as she told us to bring out our books and asked Ai to stand up and read. She started reading fluently without making any issues and paused whenever asked by Sensei as she went on explaining what was being read. I tried my best to focus on the class, but my mind yet again drifted into thoughts. From what Koto just told me, he and Sensei were assigned as overlookers by James. Those are the ones I know about. I’m pretty sure there is another person in my class who is an overlooker, since I know when Koto and Sensei can’t observe me, there is definitely someone else who does. From what Sensei has told me now, I was monitored constantly without any leeway, without my knowledge, for way longer. That would warrant another person who hasn’t introduced themselves being part of this class to observe me.
Am I too eager to know who that would be? Not really. I know I will be doing my best to keep my urges under control, and if they are appointed by James, I can see them as someone who doesn’t mean harm to me. Then again, I can’t be too wary either. Ugh, just what has my life become, and why am I thinking so much about this? Stuff like this shouldn’t even matter to me right now. I have much more important things to worry about, and I am filling my mind with these things.
"Someone just throw my brain out of the window for me," I muttered and rested my head on the desk.
I turned my head to the side and found Kobayashi crumpling some paper up and getting ready to throw it in my direction. Sadly, as soon as he raised his hand, Sensei appeared there like a phantom and grabbed his arm. He tried to pull away, but no one can withstand the power of Sensei. He took the paper out of his hand and tossed it in the dustbin across the classroom, much to everyone’s awe, though it wasn’t an unusual sight. We are used to stuff like this, but it is impressive to see her act like a superhuman.
"Why not you continue from where Tsubaki left off?" Sensei said, narrowing her eyes at Kobayashi, who defeated, held his head low, and quickly flipped through the pages. "You’re not even on the same page. Sigh, it’s page 104, start from the top of this page."
"O-okay, then the bird sai...d? Um...what is this word?" Kobayashi said, turning towards Sensei.
"Sailor, people who you would see on ships," Sensei explained as little chuckles broke across the classroom. "Did I remember asking anyone else to talk?"
The class instantly went silent as Sensei looked back at Kobayashi and encouraged him to continue. He did his best to read, but often paused or took his time to read the words. However, Sensei stood beside him, helping him with each word that he didn’t understand. Some people in the class wanted to complain and say something about Kobayashi, but the moment they looked at Sensei, their mouths shut up. Kobayashi, unbothered by all this, continued and did his best to finish reading the story. As he reached the end of the page, Sensei asked him to stop and sit down. "You did better this time, good job," she said as she asked another person to continue from where he left off. Kobayashi felt a surge of motivation out of nowhere and decided to focus on paying attention to the class for the rest of the period.
After the class, Ai, as usual, came to my seat, but to much of my surprise, I found Nakamura also approaching my desk.
"Hey, Shiba. Sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if you want to go to the arcade after school today? Both Teru and I don’t have any practice today, and Kaito recommended that we hang out there," he said with a friendly smile. I could see Ai getting closer to my desk, looking at him warily.
"I’ll have to just confirm with some people before I can get back to you on that. Just send me the location, and I will get there after you guys. Does that work fine?" I asked, and he gave me a thumbs up.
He quickly took out his phone and fiddled with it for a bit before I found an address sent to the group. It was an arcade not that far from the school. I would need to ask Sensei if I can go there today since we will have practice. I honestly don’t want to ignore their request since they are going out of their way to invite me, and they seem like genuinely good people.
"Okay, I’ll give you an update on when I can be there. Thank you for inviting me," I said, and he waved his hand telling me not to worry about it.
"I will leave you two to it then," he said and walked away.
"Are you going to join them?" Ai asked me, and I could see the concern in her eyes. I reached out and grabbed her hand, squeezing it tightly.
"They went out of their way to invite me, so it would be rude for me not go," I said, and I could see doubt forming on her face. "No need to worry, my location will be on the moment I leave, and you know I will call for you first thing if something happens. Okay?"
"If you say so," she said, still looking unconvinced. "How will you get Natsumi-san to let you go?"
"That might be a problem."
I pondered how I would be able to convince her to let me go. I can already expect her answer and all the reasoning for not letting me go, which I can’t even argue against. I have to train and study without fail after school, and I know it’s not something she is going to compromise on. Also, if I get too late, cooking dinner may not be a viable option. I think I can make something quickly if I really try, but I do want to cook them something they would actually enjoy. This is going to be hard. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Sure, you can go," Sensei said, eating from the other lunch box that I got from her as I sat there with my jaw dropped.
"Just like that? No saying how important it is for me to train right now in times like these and all?" I asked, still not fully convinced she is telling the truth.
"You have been a loner for as long as I can remember. Why would I stop you when you decide to go out and enjoy with your friends?" she said as she continued to devour the food. "The timing is not ideal, so we have to make some adjustments, but don’t be out too late."
"What about the training?" I asked.
"Who said I will make you miss that?" she said, and I felt a shudder go down my spine. I don’t like where this is going.
"No fair! You said I should enjoy, so why would I be punished?" I tried to protest.
"All three of us know what situation you are put in, so this so-called punishment you’re talking about is your only viable form of survival. If you don’t see it as such, we can always- "
"I was joking!" I spoke out loudly, joining my hands before me. "All hail the great Natsumi-san! All hail the great Natsumi-san!"
I felt a little hit from her register on my head, and I looked back at her, still in the place. Did her register gain sentience?
"That’s Sensei to you in school. Now go and come to the VEO as soon as you are done. Am I clear?" she said, and I picked up my bag excitedly. I looked at Ai and the worried expression on her face.
"Ai..." I called out her name, and she still looked unconvinced. I quickly hugged her tight and pulled her as close to me as I could. "When I get home, I’ll bake a cake for all of us."
"Hmph," she pouted, still not convinced. I took a deep breath and leaned against her ear.
"I will let you tie me up as a reward later tonight. Does that sound better?" I said, and she quickly looked at me with widened eyes.
"Why are you standing here and making them wait? Go quickly," she said, turning me around and pushing me out of the classroom. "Get home safely! I love you!"
"I love you too!" I said, walking towards the stairs, waving at her. That went easier than I expected.
