Young Master System: My Mother Is the Matriarch-Chapter 47 - : The Standoff Part 2
Chapter 47 - Chapter 47: The Standoff Part 2
The atmosphere at the Liu residence was heavy, the kind of stillness that comes before a storm. Scouts had returned with urgent news: the combined forces of the Shen and Zhou clans were marching toward the estate, their numbers vast and their intentions clear. The Liu clan was about to be besieged, and the air was thick with unease.
Liu Feng was among the first to step out of the Main Hall after the emergency council had ended. His steps were light, almost carefree, as though the looming threat was nothing more than a minor inconvenience. A broad smile stretched across his face, and his laughter rang out, hearty and unrestrained.
'It seems this misfortune has turned out to be a blessing in disguise,' he thought, his mind racing with possibilities. Not only had Li Wei volunteered to face the incoming horde alone, but he had also assured Liu Feng that his assistance wasn't needed. This alone would have been enough to ease the patriarch's worries, but there was more.
In the midst of the gathered Liu clansmen, Li Wei had casually handed Liu Feng a small jade bottle. Inside were over a dozen Divine Yang Pills, each radiating a faint, golden glow. The moment Liu Feng unsealed the bottle, he was struck speechless. These were no ordinary pills—they were the exact treasures needed to break through the bottleneck of his Five Flame Sumatra Art, a cultivation technique he had struggled with for over a decade.
'My patience has been rewarded,' Liu Feng thought, his fingers tightening around the bottle. He was so entranced by the pills that he barely noticed the envious glances from his clansmen as they filed past him. Only when the last few members had descended the stone steps did he finally snap out of his reverie.
"I trust the Divine Yang Pills are to your satisfaction?" a voice called out, lighthearted and amused. Liu Feng turned to see Li Wei standing nearby, his expression one of mild amusement. The way the dignified patriarch had been staring at the bottle was, admittedly, rather comical.
"Benefactor Li, I am truly grateful for this gift," Liu Feng replied, trying to keep his voice steady. But the excitement bubbling within him was impossible to hide. After years of stagnation, he could finally see a path forward.
"It's a pity your wife and daughter weren't present," Li Wei said, his tone tinged with regret. He seemed genuinely disappointed by the absence of Liu Meier and Lady Chen Xi.
Seeing an opportunity to curry favor, Liu Feng quickly spoke up. "I, too, am saddened by their tardiness. I will instruct them to visit Benefactor Li's quarters to express their apologies."
Li Wei raised an eyebrow, surprised by the patriarch's swift offer. It wasn't every day that a man so readily offered up his wife and daughter. Still, he didn't decline. "I'll set that matter aside for another time," he said, his tone casual. "For now, there are more pressing matters to attend to."
Liu Feng's expression turned serious as he tucked the bottle of Divine Yang Pills into his robes. "I understand that my assistance isn't required to deal with the Shen and Zhou clans. However, I assure you that the Liu clan is at your disposal for anything you may need."
Li Wei walked past Liu Feng without responding, his demeanor calm and unhurried. He simply nodded before making his way toward the front gate, leaving the patriarch to watch his retreating figure in silence.
As Li Wei stepped outside the Liu residence, a figure materialized beside him. It was Leng Yue, her presence as cold and sharp as the blades she carried. Her beauty was mesmerizing, but there was an air of danger about her that made even the bravest think twice before approaching.
"How many are they?" Li Wei asked, his tone leisurely, as though discussing the weather rather than an impending battle.
"About three hundred," Leng Yue replied, her voice flat and unbothered. "The weaker ones are at the Foundation Establishment realm, and the majority are at the later stages of Core Refinement."
Li Wei nodded, unfazed by the numbers. With a wave of his hand, an exquisite table and chair appeared, crafted from fine redwood. The table was adorned with a tea set made of delicate China, its intricate designs catching the light. Li Wei poured himself a cup of soothing green tea, the aroma wafting through the air as he brought the cup to his lips.

"It shouldn't take long for them to arrive," he said, his gaze fixed on the distant clouds. "When they do..."
"Young Master need not say more," Leng Yue interrupted, her voice icy. "I will deal with any who dare show hostility."
Li Wei smiled, a glint of amusement in his eyes. He drank the tea in one smooth motion, savoring the flavor before setting the cup down. "Blood will be spilled today," he said, his tone almost tender. "But such is life."
As the pair waited, the distant rumble of footsteps grew louder. The ground began to tremble, a faint but unmistakable sign that the enemy was near. Inside the Liu residence, Liu Feng had retreated to his room, eager to begin refining the Divine Yang Pills. But as he opened the door, he found Lady Chen Xi seated in his chair, her expression cold and unreadable.
"So, you've returned," he said, his voice low. "I'm glad to see you again, Chen Xi."
Liu Feng forced a smile, trying to act as though nothing had happened the previous night. But Lady Chen Xi wasn't fooled. Her eyes narrowed as she studied her husband, her suspicion growing by the second.
"What are you going on about?" she snapped. "Do you really think such a poor act can fool me?"
Liu Feng's cheerful demeanor was so out of character that it only deepened her suspicion. "What did that young hero Li give you?" she demanded, her tone cutting.
Liu Feng hesitated, avoiding her gaze. "I'm not sure what you mean, Chen Xi. Benefactor Li simply offered some advice during the council."
Lady Chen Xi's eyes narrowed further. The way her husband addressed Li Wei as "Benefactor Li" only confirmed her suspicions. But before she could press him further, a deep rumble shook the ground, rattling the walls of the room.
"What's happening?!" Lady Chen Xi exclaimed, her voice rising in alarm. "Are the Shen and Zhou clans already attacking?"
Liu Feng, unable to contain his curiosity, rushed out of the room without answering, leaving his wife behind. Her frustration boiled over as she watched him go, her mind racing with questions and unease.
