Zombie Apocalypse: Creation-Chapter 804: The Northern Report (1)
"Honey, wake up."
"Hm?"
As Xiaoyun opened his eyes, a shadow was blocking out the light. It was Leyan’s chest that was hovering right above him.
"Didn’t you say you have an important meeting with Yueyue today? She’s already waiting for you downstairs."
"Meeting? What day is today?"
"October 21st. Why are you asking that—"
"Shit!"
Before she could finish talking, the empty bed was the only thing that remained, as the bathroom door had been opened.
"Honey, you had been waking up later and later every day," Leyan murmured as she stepped into the bathroom.
"I wonder why."
Xiaoyun’s answer immediately caused her face to blush red. Still, she didn’t shy away from reiterating her point.
"I already told you only to do it over the weekend. Why have you been pushing yourself so much for the past few weeks?"
"Because I love you, babe."
After rinsing his teeth, Xiaoyun quickly grabbed a face towel and wiped off all the leftover marks around his face and neck.
"Stop being so romantic all of a sudden. I’m serious."
Leyan answered, staring at his face with an annoyed look, seemingly as if she wasn’t playing around anymore.
"You want to hear the real answer then?"
The moment he turned around and stared into Leyan’s eyes, she froze for a second before slowly nodding her head.
"I’m just worried you guys are going to miss me when I’m gone... Think of it as me using my salary to pay for my mortgages early."
"That’s... it?"
"Yep. I mean, that’s what you guys like me for, right? Making yourself feel pleasure in bed for the entire night."
Watching Xiaoyun head back towards the bedroom alone, guilt began to foster inside Leyan’s heart.
"T-That’s not true. W-We don’t only like you because of y-your..."
Leyan couldn’t bring herself to finish the sentence as she could see a massive bulge in the mirror’s reflection.
"My what?" Xiaoyun jokingly teased as he opened the drawer, taking out a pair of suits before looking down at his own leg.
"y-your cock..."
"Okay then. What else do you like me for? My money? My personality? Or something else?"
"Um, your... Personality! Yeah, that’s exactly what we liked about you! I’m not joking either, I’m being dead serious right now."
Through the body mirror, Xiaoyun could see her staring at him with a frown that looked even more serious than earlier.
"Mhm... Can someone tell me who the one was who moaned the loudest last night again? Almost waking up the babies from downstairs?"
Xiaoyun quickly began to take his clothes off one by one before noticing his underwear was filled with dried stains.
"T-That’s besides the point... Don’t joke about things like that. You scared me when you said we liked you only for the body."
Leyan’s face was on the verge of tears as she hugged him from behind, making him realize he might have taken it a little too far.
"Okay, okay, I won’t joke anymore... Can you move for a bit? I can’t change into my clothes if you’re hugging me."
"Let me help you."
---
"What took you so long?" Yueyue questioned, sitting in the passenger seat as Xiaoyun entered the car.
"Ask your mother."
"Don’t tell me... You two really decided to play a round of poker when you already woke up late today?"
"Things happen."
As he inserted the car key, Yueyue rolled her eyes as she couldn’t believe he still had the stamina after what happened last night.
"You really are a hopeless pervert."
"Mhm."
The insult gets completely ignored as Xiaoyun is in too good a mood to get mad. Driving down the road, he decided to turn on the radio.
A firm, middle-aged man’s voice immediately came up as it broadcast him right at the very start of a news headline.
"Stay tuned for tomorrow at 10:30 AM. The director of intelligence will be having an important news conference broadcast live."
"You ready for tomorrow?" Xiaoyun suddenly asked.
"Nope, not even the slightest. My team hasn’t even handed me the script for the new conference for tomorrow."
"Should have just delayed it til next week."
"Not going to miss one of my sisters having a baby next week." Yueyue immediately answered, not compromising at all.
"I’m not talking about the news conference. You could very well delay today’s meeting until next month instead."
"You got a point, but my agents have other jobs to do. I’m not going to delay them for my own benefits."
"All I’m going to say is, you’re doing this to yourself."
"Mhm..."
After driving for ten minutes, the two finally arrived at the intelligence office as Xiaoyun parked the car right at the very front of the building.
Not a single guard dared to walk up, as they saw both of their bosses walking up to them with their ID cards.
"Sorry about that parking. I’ll move the car later."
"N-No problem, sir."
Past the entrance, the two continue walking, room after room full of people, until they finally reach the meeting room they had been looking for.
"Sorry, had a little traffic outside today." Xiaoyun apologizes as the two of them walk around to take a seat at the very back.
Not a single person in the room spoke up. All ten of them stared at the two in complete silence until Yueyue cleared her throat.
"Ahem, Agent Alpha, can you start with today’s meeting?"
"Yes, sir."
A much older woman in a suit quickly walked up to the front, pulling down a screen as a projector displayed a map of the entire country.
"Since the founding of the intelligence office, Mr.Renqin had been actively trying to find ways to extract any sort of information about the very northern part of the country.
Unfortunately, due to the long distance between the capital and here, the information is often heavily outdated by the time it arrives back in Luoping.
Even as of today, we could only estimate the info we had gathered to be accurate within the range of three months."
Xiaoyun nodded his head slightly, acknowledging that the information may not be fully accurate as the older woman changed to the next slide.
"In the past, most of our information about the north had been gathered mainly through word of mouth from traders up north.
By April, the situation had changed as we had implemented a robust spy network. We had eyes in each of the settlements along this path."
The older woman uses his laser pointer as it emphasizes a black dotted line running from Gaozhou to Changde and all the way to the very outskirts of the capital.
Using the last few remaining national highways that had remained mostly intact, we were able to get information through the use of G207."
"How far is it exactly using G207?" Xiaoyun curiously asked.
"Over two thousand three hundred kilometers. Counting front and back, it’s well over four thousand six hundred."
"That’s far..."
As the next slide appeared, it was a map centered right around Hubei province, as both sides stretched the eastern and western parts of the country.
"From the intel we had gathered, we can confidently state around four major factions in the northern part of the country."
Xiaoyun could see three distinct colors appearing to divide up Hubei, with small colored dots scattered outside of the solid lines.
"Agent Shadow Lotus, Agent Thunder Fang, you can continue."
The older woman quickly stepped down, letting two people walk up to take over as she handed the remote over.
On the left was a very skinny-looking man wearing sunglasses, while the other had muscles that barely fit inside his clothes.
"Agent Thunder Fang here, I’m the head manager in section code 3. We had deployed a decentralized network along this national highway."
As the map changed again, it quickly shifted to the three infamous northeastern provinces of the country.
"This is one that had been founded right at the beginning of the outbreak, with the zombie population completely eradicated.
It is also one of the most enclosed sections, and we are actually unable to send anyone on the ground to report what’s inside."
Xiaoyun didn’t look surprised at all, considering the amount of equipment and soldiers that went up north right at the beginning of the outbreak.
"Despite the difficulty, our agent were able to gather some basic information from those who were either kicked out or left on their own accord."
Agent Thunder Fang paused for a second before a picture appeared. It was a book that looked extremely scratched up.
"The majority of people we had described living in the place to have extremely strict codes that are... a little controversial.
This is one of the rulebooks we were able to buy from a trader. After repairing it, we were able to get a glimpse of what’s inside."
"The Wartime Mobilization in the Three Dongbei provinces... How controversial is it exactly?"
Xiaoyun questioned as memories from years ago flooded into his head. He could still remember when he met with a pilot who crashed-landed from the north.
