100 Days to Seduce the Devil-Chapter 931: His Unexpected Proposition
Day Ninety-Nine...
"What is the meaning of this, Jane? How did Hanabi end up being captured by the Dragon Lord?" Mr. Hiroshi asked, staring at his daughter with a serious expression on his face.
"You made a deal with the Dragon Lord without consulting me. Arthur Wayne is in our hands now. I can’t just simply release him..."
Mr. Hiroshi couldn’t hide his disappointment about Hanabi’s situation.
"Pa... there is a reason why Hanabi acted on her own. But for her sake... we need to hand Arthur Wayne over to Alexander. She is like a sister to me," she said softly, convincing her father.
"But I can never forgive Arthur Wayne for assassinating my wife... your mother..." Mr. Hiroshi felt conflicted about choosing Hanabi’s safety over his revenge.
But Jane was so determined to protect Hanabi.
"Pa, listen to me." She walked closer, grabbing her father’s hand. She gazed up, meeting her father’s eyes.
"Let’s stop this. Vengeance is truly exhausting... and it is not true justice..." Jane took a deep sigh.
After experiencing a lot of things in two timelines, she had learned her lessons. Killing someone was not the only way to get justice. And revenge using vengeance didn’t end well. Monica and Vincent were the living examples of those.
"I have forgiven Miss Frost... my foster mother, who was also the one who assassinated my Mom. Pa... I’m not telling you to forgive Arthur Wayne. But I hope you can let go of your hatred... for Hanabi’s sake. Even if we kill him, we can never bring my mother back... alive. Let’s move on and focus on our present. I guess... my Mother will never ask you to shed blood for her sake. She is a good person... and she hates violence."
Mr. Hiroshi fell silent at her last words. He had to admit that Jane was right. His wife would never want him to kill someone.
He wanted to give up his power and everything in the underworld just to live peacefully with her. He tried to change because of her. However, it was too late. She was gone.
"I understand... If this is your decision, Jane, I’ll follow you. I will listen to you. I know your mother would also tell me this if she were here," Mr. Hiroshi said, sighing in resignation. He finally gave in to her.
"I will let you handle the negotiation with the Dragon Lord. Do as you want. I’ll just watch from behind," he added.
Jane quickly hugged her father. "Thanks, Pa! I owe you this."
She cheerfully cast a look at Tatsumi, giving him a thumbs up, indicating she succeeded in convincing her father.
Tatsumi and Mr. Kazuki felt relieved after receiving Jane’s hand signal.
A few hours later...
Alexander and his men arrived at Mr. Hiroshi’s villa, together with Hanabi. She was still handcuffed when they met Jane.
The members of the Sawada Clan quickly surrounded Alexander’s group.
"Surrender your weapons!" The head of security of the villa demanded from Alexander’s group.
Jack refused to surrender his gun. Instead, he pointed his gun at them. "We are not stupid! Surrendering our weapons also means giving up our lives!"
Spade could only scratch his head. He knew that Jack was ready to fight to the death even if they were outnumbered.
"Boss, what shall we do? I don’t want to die yet," Spade whispered to Alexander.
Alexander just simply glanced at Jane, observing her intently.
Before things escalated between the two forces, Jane quickly intervened.
"No need to collect their weapons," she said.
Then she shifted her gaze to Hanabi, who had been avoiding her. She was looking in a different direction, unable to face Jane. She felt guilty for causing her this kind of trouble. She felt ashamed to look at Jane.
"Alexander, come with me. We will talk... ALONE," Jane emphasized her last words.
Her statement gathered different reactions from Hanabi, Tatsumi, Mr. Kazuki, Jack, and Spade. The five of them objected.
But Alexander willingly followed Jane as they ignored the complaints of their comrades. For them, it’s better to talk privately, not involving others. Besides, Jane wanted to confirm something for one last time.
Jane brought Alexander into the monitoring room, wherein they could see where Arthur Wayne was being imprisoned.
"As you can see, your grandfather is safe," Jane started. "My father tried to torture him, but I stopped him."
Alexander glanced at the monitor screen, complicated emotions flashing through his eyes as he watched his grandpa.
"I should thank you for that..." he said with a sincere voice.
"I commend you for taking advantage of my relationship with Hanabi. You used my weakness to set this deal."
"I have no choice. This is the only way to save my grandpa. I can’t let him die. Just like how your mother is important to you, my grandpa is my closest kin... He is very important to me. I hope you understand," Alexander replied.
Jane nodded at his last remarks.
"I understand. My father is still upset. I know he still couldn’t let go of what happened in the past... so... I guess... your organization and the Sawada Clan will never become allies again. After all, your grandpa was the one who called the hit on my innocent mother."
"After this negotiation, you and your organization will never have anything to do with our clan. And I will forbid you and any members of your organization from setting foot on our territory." Jane said with a serious expression on her face. Behind her words, she was also telling Alexander that he might never see Hanabi ever again.
"Stay away from us!"
Alexander pursed his lips, shutting his eyes and clenching his fists as he got her hidden message. He had to admit that his grandpa had wronged Jane and Mr. Hiroshi, but he never wanted this to happen.
’Will I be fine... not seeing her again after this deal....? Do I have to forget her?’ He asked himself.
Alexander was silent for an entire moment, analyzing his own feelings regarding this. Jane just waited for him to speak up, giving him a chance to figure out what he truly wanted.
’I wonder what his stand is on this? Will he mention Hanabi?’ Jane pondered as she kept observing Alexander.
Jane wanted to test Alexander’s feelings toward Hanabi. She wondered if he could easily give her up and chose not to be involved with her just to put distance between the two organizations. If that were the case, then Jane would be convinced that Alexander was not the right guy for Hanabi.
"I apologized on my grandpa’s behalf. I know we can never bring back your mother... But I don’t wish to become your enemy... and I don’t agree about those restrictions you’ve mentioned. There is no way I can stay away from her," he boldly said, expressing his thoughts.
"So I have a proposition... I hope you will agree..."
Jane frowned while looking at him expectantly. "What proposition?"
"Let me bear the punishment for my grandpa. If this is the only way to satisfy your father and quell his anger... I am willing to make a sacrifice... You can torture me... and serve as your clan’s slave.... But just don’t ask me not to see her ever again."
Jane was rendered speechless.
"Knowing her... I know that after this, she will never want to see me again. And I don’t want that... to happen."
