Day Ninety-Nine…

Hanabi kept pacing back and forth. Even Jack and Spade were uneasy.

"What is taking them so long?" Jack uttered with impatience. He was worried about their Dragon Lord.

Spade tapped his back. "Relax. Let's trust our Boss."

On the other hand, Tatsumi approached Hanabi. She was still restrained by handcuffs. Spade and Jack were standing by her side.

"Don't move!" Jack snarled at Tatsumi, blocking him from getting near Hanabi.

"You can't come closer to her. The negotiation is not yet done!" He added.

Tatsumi sighed deeply. "I just want to talk to her."

"Then talk in that spot. No need to come over." Jack spoke again, giving him a warning shot.

Tatsumi frowned deeply. "It's something personal. You just want to eavesdrop on us, right?"

"Then save it later," Jack snorted.

Tatsumi just rolled his eyes skyward. Jack was very strict. He didn't allow him to get near Hanabi.

Meanwhile, a genuine concern flashed through Hanabi's eyes as she tossed a look in the direction where Jane and Alexander had disappeared. The long wait was keeping the atmosphere so tense.

'I wonder what they are talking about. I hope… they can sort this out without resorting to violence…' she wished inwardly.

Deep inside, she felt very uneasy, knowing that Alexander had come to their territory alone. She was aware that Mr. Hiroshi was still furious. He won't hesitate to hurt Alexander for his revenge.

Meanwhile, inside the Villa…

Jane brought Alexander to his grandpa, giving them time to talk. She gave them some privacy to discuss some family matters. She decided not to monitor their conversation as a sign of respect to Alexander's request.

Facing his grandpa, Alexander finally broke the silence.

"Grandpa… I am here to keep you safe. You have nothing to worry about. You can leave here today. Jack and Spade will escort you."

Arthur Wayne had complicated expressions on his face as he looked at his grandson.

"What did you do to convince them to release me?"

Alexander gave him a reassuring smile and replied, "A life for a life. You owe them a life, so I'm giving my life to correct your mistakes… bearing the punishment for your crime."

"No! Alexander! Don't do this! I'm already old. I can die anytime. Don't waste your life because of me. You are now the leader of the Red Dragon Mafia. You must cherish your life!" Arthur Wayne said exasperatedly. He couldn't accept Alexander's choice.

"Don't be stupid!"

But Alexander looked so determined. "Grandpa. I've made up my mind. I'm doing this for my own sake. I have another reason for this."

Arthur Wayne fell silent for a moment, observing him intently.

"Is it because of her?" Arthur was referring to Hanabi.

Alexander simply nodded in response.

"Grandpa… I hope you understand. Don't resent Hanabi for deceiving you. She is just doing her job as a member of the Sawada Clan. Please don't hate her," he begged.

Arthur Wayne slammed his eyes shut, clenching his fists. "I admit… It's my fault. I made a big mistake because of my greed, and I regretted it. I don't blame her. In fact, I already accepted my fate of dying in Hiroshi's hand. I just didn't expect that you would come to my rescue."

"Don't grandpa… I'm not going to die here. I trust Phantomflake," Alexander said with a faint smile.

He realized that Jane was no longer the cold-hearted assassin. She had changed a lot. She might still possess the domineering and frightening aura, but she was no longer as ruthless as before.

"Forgive me, grandson…. for the troubles I caused you…" Arthur looked down as he apologized to him.

"I don't blame you, grandpa."

After a few minutes, Jane and Mr. Hiroshi entered the room. Mr. Hiroshi ordered his men to free Arthur Wayne and escort him out of the underground prison cell.

Alexander stayed behind as he was about to receive the physical punishment from Mr. Hiroshi.

Jane didn't stop her father because she wanted to honor Alexander's proposition. This would also show as proof of his sincerity toward Hanabi.

As Mr. Hiroshi began torturing Alexander in the underground basement, Arthur Wayne was brought to the front yard of the Villa, where Jack and Spade were waiting.

Upon seeing Arthur Wayne, Tatsumi quickly demanded that Hanabi be released.

Jack hesitated for a moment. However, Arthur Wayne gave his order to release Hanabi.

"Let her go. The deal is done." Arthur said in his authoritative voice.

Hanabi froze in her spot. She couldn't look straight into the old man's eyes. She avoided his gaze. But the old man paused in front of her.

"Hanabi," he called out. "Please don't ignore this poor old man."

Hanabi's heart clenched when she heard that. Her eyes suddenly became teary, and she felt a lump in her throat.

Mustering up her courage, she raised her head to look at him. To her surprise, the old man was smiling at her warmly. There was no sign of hatred in his eyes.

'But why? Why could he still smile at me even after I betrayed him?'

The tears she was trying to hold back suddenly fell from the corners of her eyes. She didn't expect that Alexander's grandfather would still treat her well with genuine kindness.

"I don't deserve this," she mumbled. "You must hate me…"

But the old man just shook his head. "I don't hate you. I still like you… as my granddaughter."

"Master Arthur, where is our Dragon Lord?" Jack suddenly butted in, searching for Alexander.

The smile on Arthur's face faded when Alexander's name was mentioned. His grandson sacrificed himself for his freedom. But he promised Alexander not to tell Jack and Spade about this.

"He still has matters to attend to. Let's leave now." Arthur said, concealing the worries in his eyes.

Spade and Jack exchanged puzzled looks with each other. How could they leave Alexander behind?

"He will contact you later. He asked me to leave as soon as possible."

Arthur Wayne decided not to stay in the villa longer. He already made a promise to Alexander. He would entrust this matter to his grandson.

Before leaving, Arthur gave Hanabi a meaningful glance.

"Take care of my grandson," he whispered to her.

Hanabi watched Arthur's retreating back confusedly. She didn't understand why the old man said those last words.

'What is the meaning of this? Are they just leaving without waiting for Alexander? But why? Is he still talking with Jane?' She pondered to herself.

Without further ado, Hanabi ran inside the mansion, searching for Jane and Alexander. She encountered a member of the Sawada Clan in the living room.

"Where is my Sis? Have you seen her and Alexander?" She asked the man.

"Lady Hanabi, they are still in the underground basement," the man replied.

Hanabi sprinted toward the underground basement, her footsteps quick and uneven on the cold stone floor.

As she neared the entrance, a chilling sound reached her ears: sharp, rhythmic lashes cutting through the silence. The noise was faint but unmistakable, sending a shiver down her spine.

'Huh? What's going on down there?' 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

She had a bad feeling about this. Her heart started to race inside her chest. It did not take long before she finally caught sight of what was happening in the underground prison.

There… she saw Mr. Hiroshi hitting Alexander with a leather whip. He started to bleed. She froze in her spot as she witnessed the scene.
