70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 32: Intimidation
Zhao Qing, standing by, widened his eyes. How could Mumu have so much strength??
Xu Mumu was quite surprised by Yin Yang’s reaction. Wasn’t this guy supposed to be a smooth talker who could get along with anyone? Although he looked a bit disheveled at the moment, he turned out to be quite good at fighting.
In her eyes, this person was definitely trained.
The book didn’t describe Yin Yang much, and later he completely vanished, so Xu Mumu’s understanding of him was only during his time as a young intellectual.
Xu Mumu’s kick directly intimidated the bald guy’s lackeys, allowing Yin Yang to seize the chance to snatch a stick from one of the thugs. Now armed, coupled with his good skills, he was formidable.
Xu Mumu threw the books she held into Zhao Qing’s hands, who barely held them steady, wondering how Mumu managed to carry them so casually over such a distance before.
Remembering how Xu Mumu earlier dislocated the bald guy’s arm with a kick, then kicked him into the wall, almost knocking it down, Zhao Qing shuddered. He hadn’t expected Mumu to be so formidable, formidable enough to scare him a bit.
His earlier admiration for Xu Mumu had diminished quite a bit by now.
With Xu Mumu joining, the battle instantly turned around. Xu Mumu only used her fists to take these people down.
"I didn’t think you were so strong," Yin Yang remarked, feeling like he no longer recognized this girl. She was aggressive, with considerable strength.
"You’re not bad either. How did you attract these people?" Xu Mumu slightly raised an eyebrow, looking at those she had knocked down who were still groaning, while a few had already gone to help the bald guy, who seemed to be their leader.
"Someone didn’t like me," Yin Yang said calmly.
"Hey, you guys, this is my friend. If anyone dares to cause trouble again, it’s not just a matter of a little bruising," Xu Mumu told the few people still on the ground.
"Sister, we won’t dare again," the group said, almost terrified to death. This woman was too fierce, and they still felt pain all over.
"Let’s go," Xu Mumu, disinterested in the group, directly told Zhao Qing and Yin Yang.
"Okay," Yin Yang nodded.
Xu Mumu walked over and took her big stack of books from Zhao Qing, who had to use both hands to hold them, while Xu Mumu lifted them with one hand.
Zhao Qing stared at Xu Mumu’s hand for two seconds and then quietly looked away.
Zhao Qing didn’t ask, and Xu Mumu wouldn’t say anything either.
Throughout the journey, the three didn’t say much. Zhao Qing was still stunned by Xu Mumu’s formidable strength, while Yin Yang seemed preoccupied with his thoughts and didn’t feel like talking.
Once they reached the village, they went their separate ways and returned home. Xu Minglei and Tiedan were already doing homework together.
Xu Mumu was satisfied seeing them working seriously, feeling it was worth spending her own money on these books, most of which were for the kids.
"Sister, you’re back! What are you carrying, is it heavy? Let me take it," Xu Jiaojiao cheerfully approached as Xu Mumu returned.
"It’s heavy, I’ll carry it. I bought elementary and middle school textbooks from the recycling station for you guys," Xu Mumu said with a smile.
Xu Minglei pursed his lips without speaking. He felt he needed to study harder than Xu Jiaojiao and Xu Tao.
"These are all for you to use. Each of you take a notebook and these pencils, though they’re short, they’re still usable. Share them and don’t waste any." These pencils were worn down to short stubs, all given for free by Sir Jiang.
"Wow, so much! Thank you, big sister!" Xu Jiaojiao was extremely happy. She loved studying, and Xu Mumu bringing these things back made her the happiest.
"Go ahead and distribute them. Make sure to divide the notebooks equally. I’ll sort out these books later," Xu Mumu said with a smile, patting the young girl’s head. Xu Jiaojiao was somewhat malnourished, her hair dry and split, but still quite long.
"Got it, big sister. I’ll make sure to divide them equally," the little girl said, puffing out her chest. It was her first time given such a task, and it felt sacred to her.
Xu Mumu patted her head and took her school bag into her parents’ room.
"Dad, are you feeling unwell again?" seeing Xu Hai lying in bed asleep. Her father loved to laze around, and Xu Mumu was almost used to it. Every few days he’d slack off; if he didn’t slack off, she’d find it odd.
"Of course, I caught a chill yesterday, feeling unwell," Xu Hai replied lazily.
Xu Mumu didn’t know what to say. Her father was spoiled by her grandparents. Only they would pamper him like this; anyone else would have certainly given him a good beating.
"Dad, where’s Mom?" Not seeing Li Caixia around, Xu Mumu was a bit puzzled.
"Where else? Of course, she went to find your Aunt Cuihua. The moment you come back, you look for your mom but not me." Xu Hai pouted, feeling his daughter wasn’t close to him anymore.
"Alright dad, my classmate gave me this, let Mom keep it safe later," Xu Mumu said, showing the gifts. Du Yu was indeed generous.
"Wow, who gave you this? So generous," Xu Hai immediately sat up, no longer lazy.
"My classmate," Xu Mumu didn’t elaborate, just showed the items.
"Your classmate seems nice. Does he like you? If he does, Dad supports you guys," Xu Hai said, eating a chestnut, looking at his daughter. Such a generous person probably came from a well-off family, just right for his daughter to marry into.
"Dad, what nonsense are you spouting, ruining your daughter’s reputation?" Xu Mumu said speechlessly. Du Yu did have some feelings for her, but she didn’t reciprocate.
At sixteen, she felt she needed at least ten more years before considering marriage, and she’d have to find someone she felt a connection with.
"Silly girl, when someone this generous comes along, you’d be foolish not to catch him," Xu Hai said, looking at Xu Mumu with disdain for her lack of ambition.
"Dad, put those away, don’t eat them now. Save them for when Mom gets back, then distribute it, and also give some to Grandpa and Grandma," Xu Mumu said, rolling her eyes, then took her backpack outside.
Xu Mumu continued tutoring the household kids, but she didn’t see Xu Minghui.
"Hey little brother, where’s Minghui?" Xu Mumu asked, a bit puzzled. Minghui had said he would join the tutoring.
"He went to the field with Grandpa," Xu Minglei replied. Big brother was already considered strong labor and always had to work, though Xu Minghui often slacked and didn’t earn many work points.
