Chapter 14: Chapter 14: I’m Your Real Son

As Vivian Quincy walked out of the hotel room, she clearly felt the strange looks from the people passing by. ’I haven’t even done anything,’ she thought. But just as she was about to step into the elevator, she heard voices murmuring behind her.

"Who is that girl? Why is she coming out of President Ford’s room?"

"What were they doing in there? I distinctly remember President Ford wearing white when he arrived. How come his clothes were black when he came out of the room?"

"That girl is so shameless..." The voice trailed off into a sound of someone fuming.

The elevator doors had already closed, but Vivian Quincy heard everything clearly. The color drained slightly from her delicate face. She really couldn’t understand what she had done that was so shameless. ’Don’t these people have anything better to do?’

After leaving the banquet hall, Vivian Quincy called Beanie Quincy.

Beanie Quincy was upset. He said plaintively, "Mommy, it’s already ten o’clock. Why haven’t you come to pick Beanie up yet?"

"I’m sorry, Mommy just got off work. I’m on my way to get you now." Vivian Quincy glanced at the time, feeling very guilty.

Her sweet and caring son, Beanie Quincy, said, "Mommy, did you just get off work? You must be exhausted. It seems like you’re really far away from me. Maybe you should just come tomorrow. It’s so late, Beanie would be worried if you came by yourself."

"Alright." Vivian Quincy checked the map and saw they were very far apart. It would take about an hour by taxi, and she probably wouldn’t get there until after eleven. It wouldn’t be right to disturb the family who had taken Beanie in so late at night. ’I’ll just get off work early tomorrow, buy some gifts, and pick him up then.’

After hanging up, Beanie Quincy blinked his big, bright eyes and looked up. Madam Ford was nervously clutching his little blanket, asking with an expectant look, "How did it go? Did your mommy agree?"

"She agreed," Beanie Quincy nodded.

Madam Ford was overjoyed and immediately instructed the butler, "Is the late-night snack ready in the kitchen? Hurry up and bring it out! Don’t let my precious Beanie starve!"

"Madam Ford, Beanie isn’t hungry. I don’t need to eat that much." Beanie Quincy tilted his little face up. "Don’t make the chefs work so late at night. Let them all rest."

"Beanie is right. From now on, Madam Ford will definitely let them get off work earlier. But you didn’t eat much tonight, so you need to eat more. If your mother comes back and sees you’ve gotten thin, she’ll be heartbroken, and then how could I possibly face her?" Madam Ford urged the maid to bring out the late-night snack.

There were eight dishes in total, but after the third plate was brought out, things came to a stop.

Madam Ford asked, "Where are the rest of the dishes?"

The butler quickly replied, "Madam, the Young Master is back. He hadn’t eaten dinner, so the kitchen brought the remaining dishes to him."

When Madam Ford heard that Jasper Ford had intercepted the meal she had prepared for Beanie Quincy, she said angrily, "He’s a grown man! If he’s hungry, can’t he cook for himself? Why is he fighting with a child over food? Does he think he can do whatever he wants just because he’s getting on in years and has made a little money? He has the nerve to come home when he can’t even produce a child? Tell him to leave!"

The butler wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, looking troubled. "The Young Master is already back. It wouldn’t be right to kick him out, would it?"

"Yes, Madam Ford. Beanie has a small appetite; I can’t eat that much. I already feel bad for freeloading here every day. If you and Uncle get into a fight, Beanie will feel very guilty." Beanie Quincy held his bowl, blinking his big, beautiful eyes.

"Beanie is still the best, always so considerate." Madam Ford paid special attention to Beanie Quincy’s words. It was probably because he was just too cute; his chubby little face was delicate and beautiful, perfectly matching Madam Ford’s aesthetic tastes.

Every time she saw Beanie Quincy’s face, Madam Ford couldn’t help but want to give her own good-for-nothing son a beating. How could other families produce such obedient and adorable children? Her son, Jasper Ford, was the CEO of Imperium Group, a man sought after by every socialite and noble in Crestfall, yet he was so utterly useless!

’No, I still have to go find him and chew him out to vent my anger!’

Madam Ford went downstairs for her daily scolding of her son.

Beanie Quincy was stunned. He looked innocently at the butler, "Does Madam Ford always like to scold people like this?"

The butler forced a smile. "She used to, but she’s been much more diligent about it recently."

...

Jasper Ford had been in a bad mood all day. The small pleasure he’d gotten from teaching Vivian Quincy a lesson was instantly soured by Madam Ford’s scolding, and his handsome face darkened. However, Jasper Ford said nothing and continued eating his dinner on his own!

Seeing that her scolding was having no effect, Madam Ford huffed, "From now on, if you come home hungry and want to eat, tell the kitchen in advance. This is food I prepared for the child. You’re not allowed to eat it anymore."

"Mom, I’m your biological son," Jasper Ford reminded her very seriously.

Madam Ford retorted, "Don’t say that. I can’t afford to be that embarrassed."

Jasper Ford: "..."

Jasper Ford could clearly sense that his mother’s temper had become much more volatile recently. Having lost his appetite, he put down his chopsticks. "I’m going to bed."

He got up and walked quickly upstairs. As he passed a guest room, Jasper Ford stopped and glanced at the closed door. He could actually hear a child’s voice from inside. Jasper Ford frowned.

Just then, the butler opened the door and came out of the guest room. He was startled to see Jasper Ford standing there and quickly asked, "Good evening, Young Master. Are you... here to see him? Would you like to go in?"

The butler enthusiastically invited Jasper Ford to enter.

Jasper Ford lazily concealed the curiosity in his eyes and asked in a low voice, "Why did Madam Ford put the child in my cousin’s room?"

The butler said, "Your cousin doesn’t bring her child back often. Madam Ford was afraid the boy would get bored staying in one room for too long, so she has him switch rooms every other day to keep things fresh. If you weren’t sleeping here tomorrow, Young Master, it would be his turn to play in your room. The Madam also said that the layout and orientation of your room are excellent, so the boy would definitely love it. And if you don’t find a wife soon, we should just clear out your room for the boy to play in..."

For a moment, Jasper Ford felt like he was the one who had been picked up from the trash!

He returned to his bedroom, annoyed, and slammed the door shut with a BANG.

He roughly tore off his shirt and went into the bathroom to wash his hands. Inexplicably, Vivian Quincy’s pouty little face appeared in his mind. ’Damn it,’ he thought, ’why did I think of that pretentious, filthy woman after hearing what the butler said!’

Jasper Ford impatiently dried his hands and went to the study. He was halfway through some work, still feeling irritated, when a call came in from Hayden Kaye, asking him to go out for a drink.

Jasper Ford refused directly. "I’m busy."

"Ninth Uncle, please come out with me. I’m in so much pain..." Hayden Kaye’s voice was choked with sobs.

Jasper Ford frowned. "Where are you?"

"The Vocal Bar," Hayden Kaye haltingly said three words.

It took Jasper Ford half an hour of navigating to find the bar. When he went inside, Hayden Kaye was already dead drunk, sitting alone with three or four empty bottles on the table.

When he saw Jasper Ford arrive, Hayden Kaye’s eyes were slightly red. "Ninth Uncle, you finally came. I thought you were ignoring me too."

Jasper Ford looked at his state and said with displeasure, "Is this because of that woman?"

Hayden Kaye painfully chugged a large gulp of alcohol. "I went to see her today, and she rejected me again."

"Then find someone else," Jasper Ford replied coldly.

Hayden Kaye shook his head. "I can’t forget her. I really can’t..." Looking up into Jasper Ford’s icy eyes, Hayden Kaye said, "Ninth Uncle, do you know what it feels like to want someone so badly but never be able to have them?"
