A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 158: Jasper Dealing with a Love Rival?
"Sir, what’s wrong?" The servant was frightened by Master Shaw’s actions and rushed to support him, worried he might fall.
Shawn Shaw shoved him aside and pointed toward the bamboo grove in front of them. "Who was just there!"
The servant looked in the direction Shawn Shaw was pointing, completely bewildered. "There’s no one there, sir. Are you perhaps seeing things? There’s nobody over there."
Shawn Shaw refused to believe it and hurried forward. He moved quickly, but when he arrived at the bamboo grove, he found not a single soul.
Dejectedly, Shawn Shaw staggered back a step. The servant quickly steadied him. "Sir, are you alright?"
"Help me back to my room," Shawn Shaw said, shaking his head. His weathered face was etched with unspeakable sorrow.
The servant dared not delay. After offering a profuse apology to Jasper Ford, he helped the unsteady Shawn Shaw toward his bedroom.
"That’s strange. Master Shaw is never like this. Maybe his eyesight is going," the servant standing behind Jasper Ford remarked, craning his neck to look around. He really couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary.
Jasper Ford said, "Since Master Shaw isn’t feeling well, I shouldn’t stay and disturb him."
Just as he was about to leave, he realized Vivian Quincy was nowhere to be seen. Jasper Ford was about to ask a Shaw Family servant where she had gone when he saw a woman in a white, floral-print dress walking toward him.
A glimmer of astonishment flashed through Jasper Ford’s eyes. It was the first time he had ever seen Vivian Quincy in this style of long dress. It was gorgeous and suited her perfectly, making her appear exceptionally elegant—a far cry from her usual stiff work attire. She looked like a... fairy!
Jasper Ford was shocked by his own assessment. Masking the unusual glint in his eyes, he said in a low voice, "Where are your clothes? Why are you wearing that?"
"Weren’t you the one who said my torn work uniform was a bad look and told me to change into one of Kimberly Shaw’s outfits?" Vivian Quincy shot back.
Jasper Ford was momentarily at a loss for words. ’A woman this beautiful is just an eyesore.’ He couldn’t even be bothered to glance at her again, turning to leave and ordering her to go get the car.
Vivian Quincy was inwardly speechless...
Still, she obediently followed him. But on second thought, she felt it wasn’t right to leave in Kimberly Shaw’s dress. "Wait a moment," she said. "Since we’re going, I should change out of this dress first."
"Don’t bother. Kimberly doesn’t wear clothes after someone else has," Jasper Ford cut her off.
Vivian Quincy said, "The tag is still on it, and I’ve only just put it on. It’s fine; it just needs to be washed. More importantly, this dress costs twenty thousand. It’s really expensive. How can you be so sure she won’t want it back?"
Jasper Ford replied, "Kimberly Shaw uses a three-thousand-dollar toothbrush and gets a new one every day. She wears her clothes, no matter how expensive, only once before tossing them. More importantly, she owns many custom pieces from famous designers, both local and international, and their prices are in another league. To her, the dress you’re wearing is one of her cheapest items."
The corner of Vivian Quincy’s mouth twitched. "I’m getting the distinct feeling you’re calling me poor."
"And you’re not?" the man shot back. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Vivian Quincy was fuming. ’Fine, I won’t change then! I’ll just leave in this!’ After all, Jasper Ford was the one who was embarrassed by her tattered clothes in front of Master Shaw and forced her to change in the first place. He could owe Kimberly the favor!
’So infuriating!’
The two had barely stepped out of the main gate when a supercar came roaring toward them, driven by none other than Justin Landon.
"Where’s Kimberly?" Justin Landon demanded, grabbing Jasper Ford’s sleeve.
Seeing him arrive, the Shaw Family’s gate guard disregarded everything else and quickly locked the gate.
A split-second too late, Justin Landon rushed forward but couldn’t stop the gate from closing. He pounded on it furiously. "What’s the big idea? Can’t you see who’s here? Open this gate right now!"
The person inside completely ignored him.
Justin Landon yelled, "What is this? You want me to smash this gate down?"
"Master Landon, our own master is home. I will be sure to relay your exact words to him shortly," the guard’s voice replied respectfully. His words, however, were infuriatingly smug.
Unable to get in and not daring to act too brazenly, Justin Landon turned to Jasper Ford resentfully. "What are you doing here?"
"Am I not allowed?" Jasper Ford shot back.
Justin Landon said, "Why didn’t you give me a heads-up that you were coming? You know Kimberly won’t see me, let alone let me come to her house. So much for friendship! ...And who’s this pretty lady? She looks a little familiar."
His eyes landed on Vivian Quincy in her long dress.
’Gorgeous, graceful, and intelligent... with a killer body!’
’Where did Jasper find a bombshell like this?’
"Master Landon, we met once before, outside the president’s office," Vivian Quincy said, feeling extremely uncomfortable under his blatant stare.
"Oh, right, I remember! You’re that assistant. No wonder you looked familiar. You’re gorgeous! Perfect for bringing along as a date. Way better than that crybaby vixen, Wanda Quincy." After complimenting Vivian Quincy, Justin Landon immediately launched into badmouthing Wanda Quincy.
It wasn’t clear whether he was angry or just annoyed, but Jasper Ford ignored him completely and turned to leave.
Justin Landon, who was in a foul mood, insisted on dragging Jasper Ford out for a drink, but Jasper coldly told him to get lost. Justin then turned his attention to Vivian Quincy, just as her phone started to ring.
"Hayden Kaye?" Justin Landon had seen the caller ID. "What’s this? You know him, little assistant?"
Vivian Quincy remembered her promise to Madam Ford. ’Hayden must be getting anxious,’ she thought. Just as she was about to answer, Jasper Ford snatched the phone from her hand and abruptly ended the call.
"Let’s go drinking." This was directed at Justin Landon.
The imperious man didn’t even deign to look at Vivian Quincy. He strode forward on his long legs, got straight into the car, and then prompted her to drive!
Vivian Quincy desperately wanted to say, ’President, it’s after hours. I’ve already clocked out.’
But one look at the man’s bright, sharp eyes made Vivian Quincy swallow the words right back down. ’Better not say anything I shouldn’t. No point in making the president angry. I’ll be the one who suffers in the end!’
She got into the car, feeling miserable.
Justin Landon watched them. ’What’s going on with those two?’
’Isn’t this knockout of an assistant supposed to be Jasper’s woman? So why does she have Hayden Kaye’s number? And what would he be calling her for after dark?’
If Justin Landon recalled correctly, Hayden Kaye was Jasper Ford’s own nephew.
He started to walk over to ask Jasper about Vivian’s relationship with Hayden, but just then, her phone rang again. It was Hayden Kaye calling once more. And just like before, Jasper mercilessly hung up!
Justin Landon’s eyebrows shot up. ’Oh, this is getting good.’
’That cold, ruthless, and intensely domineering look on Jasper’s face, combined with his actions... Is he dealing with a... love rival?’
’Did I just stumble upon a major secret?’
’Should I tell Wanda Quincy and watch her have a meltdown? If Wanda is out of the picture, Kimberly would definitely throw a lavish, three-day-long party to celebrate, a celebration for the ages!’
’No, wait. If Kimberly finds out that the engagement between Jasper and Wanda is on shaky ground, she’ll definitely get ideas of her own.’
And so, Justin Landon abandoned his own car right there at the Shaw Family gate, hopped into the driver’s seat of Jasper’s vehicle, and said to Vivian, "You go sit in the back next to Jasper. We can’t have a lady driving this late at night."
Justin Landon thought to himself, ’Time to play matchmaker!’
