A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 65: Eat It All Up, Love You
Watching all of this, Caden Chandler was at a loss for words and remained silent.
Jasper Ford impassively cut Wanda Quincy’s hair. Most of it fell into the trash can, but he placed one lock in his drawer.
Wanda Quincy, completely oblivious, was still delighted that Jasper Ford was trimming her hair himself.
"Done." Jasper Ford’s hands stopped. His deep voice was gentle and pleasant to the ear.
Wanda Quincy stood up joyfully, touched her hair, and said, "Thank you, Jasper."
Wanda turned and asked Caden Chandler for a mirror. Caden gave her hair a thoughtful look, swallowed hard, and shook his head. "I’m sorry, Miss Quincy. The President doesn’t use things like that, and neither do I."
"Neither of you? Oh... I wanted to see how the haircut Jasper gave me turned out." Wanda was visibly disappointed.
Caden Chandler made no comment.
Jasper Ford, however, asked coldly, "What, you think a haircut I gave you could be ugly?"
"No, that’s not what I meant." Wanda Quincy quickly shook her head, smiling as she walked over to link her arm with Jasper Ford’s. She said in a coquettish tone, "I’m just so happy, I wanted to see the haircut Jasper gave me. No matter what it looks like, as long as you’re the one who cut it, I’ll love it."
The man pulled his arm away with a hint of revulsion. "You can go. I have to work."
"Oh? Alright..." Wanda had thought she could have a few more sweet moments with Jasper Ford, not expecting him to be so cold. ’But then again,’ she thought, ’for a man as lofty as him to lower himself to cut my hair is already the highest honor. How could I dare ask for anything more?’
Wanda Quincy didn’t dare disturb Jasper Ford any further, so she grabbed her bag and walked out of the CEO’s office. Remembering there was a restroom in the Imperium Group building, Wanda went to look in the mirror. Her long hair had been cut into a choppy, uneven mess by Jasper, yet she thought it was beautiful. She stood before the sink, looking from side to side, unable to tear her eyes away for a long time.
A strange retching sound came from behind her. She didn’t know who it was.
Wanda didn’t pay it any mind until she saw Vivian Quincy in the mirror’s reflection. Her expression froze, and her smile slowly stiffened.
Vivian Quincy hadn’t expected to run into Wanda Quincy in the restroom either. She furrowed her lovely brows, turned on the tap, and washed her hands without a word.
Seeing that they were alone, Wanda crossed her arms and sneered, "You’ve really got some nerve, insisting on clinging to my future husband’s company. Are you that desperate to be my dog?"
"What does my job have to do with you?" Vivian paused her handwashing to retort.
Wanda said, "This is Jasper Ford’s company. I’m his future wife. Even though we aren’t married yet, I’m as good as the President’s wife. Doesn’t working here mean you’re my dog? And from the looks of it, you seem to be enjoying the role."
Her condescending tone was utterly nauseating.
Vivian, whose stomach ached from hunger, had just managed to stop throwing up bile after a long morning. Wanda’s words nearly made her sick all over again. ’She is truly shameless,’ she thought.
Vivian wiped the corner of her mouth, looking at the arrogant, arms-crossed reflection of Wanda in the mirror. "I have to admire you," she said. "Being publicly rejected like that and still having the gall to say such things. If you’re really that capable, why don’t you actually become the President’s wife before you run your mouth."
Wanda’s expression changed drastically at the provocation. She snapped, "My marrying into the Ford Family is only a matter of time!"
"That’s not a given. Be careful someone with a closer vantage point doesn’t beat you to it," Vivian warned.
The furious Wanda suddenly burst out laughing. She pointed at Vivian and said, "Don’t tell me you’re thinking of seducing my man? A slut like you? How could Jasper ever be interested in you?" Wanda arrogantly showed off her hair. "See this? Jasper cut it for me himself. Do you know what that means? He’s a man above all others. Why would he cut my hair if he didn’t love me to the ends of the earth? You should take a good look at yourself. In what way can you possibly compare to me!"
An employee walked in from outside, happening to overhear Wanda’s words. The employee couldn’t help but glance between the two of them, a confused look on their face.
Wanda shot the employee a displeased glare before arrogantly stalking off in her high heels.
The employee couldn’t help but ask, "Assistant Quincy, what was...?"
"It was nothing." Vivian shook her head, finished washing her hands, and turned to leave.
Her workload was heavy today, and having not eaten, she felt very unwell. After returning to her desk, she waited quietly for Caden Chandler, hoping he might put in a good word for her with Jasper Ford, or at least get her something to eat. But when Caden came out of the office, he walked right past her, his steps hurried, without even a single glance in her direction!
Vivian slumped dejectedly onto her desk. ’I’m so, so hungry, and my stomach hurts so, so much. I’m going to die of starvation.’
In a daze, she sensed someone walk up to her. Vivian didn’t look up until two small food containers landed on her desk, at which point she snapped her head up.
"President." Vivian was so startled she immediately shot to her feet.
Jasper Ford said, "Returning your breakfast."
He set the food down and left, effortlessly cool.
Everyone in the entire department turned to look. They were all stunned!
’Their aloof, unapproachable, "celibate" President was actually bringing food to his junior assistant? Oh my god, what is happening? Am I dreaming?’
The entire department was dumbstruck, watching Jasper Ford leave. It wasn’t until his back disappeared at the end of the hallway that an uproar erupted. Everyone who had snapped out of their daze turned their gazes to Vivian Quincy. "Assistant Quincy, why would the President bring you breakfast?" one asked.
"That’s right, the President has never been so nice to a subordinate. What’s going on between you two?"
"Could the President have taken a fancy to you? Oh my gosh, you’re so lucky! I want a cold, celibate President like that for myself."
The female colleagues in the department couldn’t help but shoot envious glances at Vivian, which made her feel immense pressure. ’How am I supposed to explain this?’ she wondered.
To avoid any misunderstandings, Vivian said earnestly, "Didn’t you all hear him just now? The President was returning my breakfast. He took the breakfast I bought this morning. It’s just a simple exchange, nothing strange about it. Besides, how could a man like him possibly be interested in me?"
"Really?" the colleague closest to Vivian asked doubtfully.
Vivian nodded seriously. "That’s exactly what happened. If you don’t believe me, you can go ask the President."
Although they were curious, no one was crazy enough to go question Jasper Ford over a container of breakfast. After a long moment of envy, they returned to their workstations. As for the colleague who had witnessed the argument between Vivian and Wanda in the restroom, she gave Vivian a pensive look, her intentions unclear.
Vivian noticed the look but said nothing. She was starving and just wanted to eat something to regain her strength. If this went on any longer, her body wouldn’t be able to take it.
She carefully opened the food containers. A wonderful fragrance wafted out. Inside were several dishes, beautifully presented and looking delicious. They were even cut into heart shapes. ’How romantic!’
Vivian’s appetite surged. As she unwrapped the disposable chopsticks to eat, she noticed a sticky note on the side. She picked it up. On it were a few large words: "Be sure to eat it all! Love you."
