A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 64: Smiling Like a Fool
Vivian Quincy’s lips twitched. For a moment, she thought she had misheard. ’Their high and mighty CEO actually said something like that?’
Vivian Quincy instinctively hid the breakfast behind her, straightening her back. "I don’t have any. If you want some, you can buy your own, Mr. Ford."
"Give it to me." Jasper Ford’s eyes narrowed dangerously, an intimidating chill radiating from him.
Vivian Quincy’s legs trembled, but she bit her lip stubbornly. "This is mine. If I give it to you, I’ll have nothing to eat."
"Who’s the boss here, me or you?" Jasper Ford’s eyes narrowed dangerously.
"You’re the boss, yes, but this is my property," Vivian Quincy said.
"Anything that enters my company becomes my property." Jasper Ford paused, then continued, "If you don’t give it to me, maybe I’ll just have to eat you instead?"
His tone was utterly menacing!
Vivian Quincy, whose attitude had been so firm, suddenly lost her nerve. She reluctantly handed him the breakfast and mumbled, "Will I be reimbursed?"
"No," Jasper Ford said without batting an eye. So shameless!
Vivian Quincy wanted to smash something in his face. She was so, so angry, but she didn’t dare! She meekly placed the breakfast on his desk. "If there’s nothing else, I’ll head out."
’There are still a few minutes,’ she thought. ’It’s not too late to go downstairs and buy another one.’
"Stay," Jasper Ford called out, commanding, "Sit here and watch me eat."
Vivian Quincy???
’What kind of person does that?’
’No way!’
"What’s that look on your face?" Jasper Ford asked coldly.
Vivian Quincy quickly wiped the displeasure from her face and muttered, "I’m still hungry. Stealing my breakfast was already going too far."
The man didn’t say a word, simply devouring every last bite right in front of her.
Stuck there, Vivian Quincy could only watch as her precious meal vanished into Jasper Ford’s stomach. She felt a surge of despair. ’I really want to punch someone.’
Ten minutes later, Jasper Ford was done. He then had Vivian Quincy clean up the desk. He hadn’t left a single drop of the soy milk for her. Vivian Quincy stared at the two empty breakfast bags, her heart bleeding. She cleaned up his trash, all the while drawing circles and cursing him in her mind, feeling wronged to the point of exploding.
During work hours, employees were not allowed to leave the company premises unless on official business.
Vivian Quincy was starving. With her head hung low, she cleaned up and returned to her desk, her stomach rumbling loudly.
"Assistant Quincy, these are the documents the CEO needs. Please organize them," the head secretary said, handing the meeting files to Vivian Quincy.
"Alright." Vivian Quincy took them and started working, her head bowed.
The head secretary noticed her pale face and asked curiously, "What’s the matter? You look terrible."
"I’m fine." Vivian Quincy shook her head and kept working.
At first, it was tolerable. But after nine o’clock, Vivian Quincy was so hungry she could barely function. Her stomach started cramping, and the pain was intense. She collapsed onto her desk, her face contorted in agony.
Caden Chandler, who was there to submit a report, noticed something was off with Vivian Quincy. "Are you feeling sick?" he asked.
"Stomachache," Vivian Quincy replied in a whisper, her voice faint.
Although Caden Chandler didn’t particularly like Vivian Quincy, he grew concerned seeing her face turn ashen from the pain. "Did you skip breakfast?"
"Mhm," Vivian Quincy nodded.
Caden Chandler said, "That’s tricky. The CEO’s rule is that no employees can leave the company during work hours. I have to go submit my report."
Without another word to Vivian Quincy, Caden Chandler left.
Vivian Quincy bit her lip, remaining slumped over her desk.
Caden Chandler glanced back at her from a distance, then entered the CEO’s office and handed the reports Jasper Ford had requested to him.
Jasper Ford casually flipped open one of the documents with his long fingers, scribbled a few words on it, and said, "This is fine. You’re dismissed."
"Sir, Assistant Quincy didn’t have breakfast, and I think her stomach condition is acting up. Could she be allowed to go downstairs and buy something to eat?" Caden Chandler couldn’t help but ask.
The man’s slender hand paused. He looked up. "She has a stomach condition?"
"I think so. When I passed her desk just now, her face was deathly pale. She was clutching her stomach, and she looked like she was in agony. It must be a stomach condition," Caden Chandler said, unable to forget the look on Vivian Quincy’s face.
Jasper Ford glanced through the window toward Vivian Quincy’s desk. She was already slumped over, so he couldn’t see her face. He slowly closed the report in his hands. Just as he was about to speak, the door to his office was pushed open.
Wanda Quincy entered carrying two large boxes. She was dressed beautifully and wore a smile as gentle as a spring breeze. In a delicate voice, she cooed, "Jasper, good morning."
Jasper Ford’s impeccably handsome expression darkened almost imperceptibly. "What are you doing here?"
"Didn’t you say last night that I could come see you?" Wanda Quincy asked, looking deeply aggrieved. "Have you forgotten?"
Jasper Ford shifted his gaze away from Vivian Quincy’s direction and asked, "What did my mother say when she saw you yesterday?"
"She didn’t say much. She was probably in a bad mood and scolded me a bit, but it’s no big deal. After all, I’m going to be the one to marry you, her future daughter-in-law. It’s only right that she scolds me." Wanda Quincy said one thing, but her tone expertly conveyed how wronged she felt.
Standing to the side, Caden Chandler couldn’t help but steal another look at Wanda Quincy. ’This woman’s methods are truly impressive!’ he thought.
’The more she acts as if she were humiliated but holds no grudge, the guiltier the CEO will feel toward her.’
’And once the CEO feels guilty, she can seize the opportunity to get what she wants.’
Jasper Ford’s handsome face fell.
Wanda Quincy smiled and said, "I spent the whole morning making you breakfast. You work so hard every day, you have to eat nutritious food. I had a professional nutritionist plan all of this. Why don’t you try some and see if it’s to your liking?"
She placed two large food containers on the desk. A delicious aroma wafted from them before they were even opened.
It looked wonderful and smelled incredibly tempting. Caden Chandler, standing to the side, couldn’t help but swallow.
Jasper Ford had just finished Vivian Quincy’s food, so he wasn’t hungry. He glanced at it nonchalantly and said, "I just ate. You can leave it here. I’ll eat it when I’m hungry. Thanks for your hard work."
Those simple words made Wanda Quincy ecstatic. Her eyes filled with adoration. "It’s no trouble at all. Making breakfast for you, Jasper, is the happiest thing in my life."
Jasper Ford’s lips curved into a faint smile, so handsome it was blinding.
He patted the empty chair beside him and said, "Come here. Sit."
Wanda Quincy froze for a second. ’Sit next to Jasper?’
’Oh my God, I never even dared to dream of this.’
’I’m so touched.’
’Jasper is finally responding to me! He loves me!’
Wanda Quincy quickly pulled out the chair and sat down, her cheeks flushed and shy.
Jasper Ford reached out to stroke her hair and asked, "Did you get your hair done?"
"Yes," Wanda Quincy replied, pleasantly surprised. ’Jasper actually noticed I got my hair done! I’m so touched.’
Jasper Ford said, "No wonder there are so many split ends. The bottom half is all dried out. How about I trim it for you?"
"Really?" Wanda Quincy’s eyes were full of anticipation. So moved she was on the verge of tears, she nodded without a second thought. ’The man I love so deeply is going to cut my hair for me! What an honor!’
Wanda Quincy was immersed in happiness.
Jasper Ford held out his hand toward Caden Chandler and said, "Bring me a pair of scissors."
Caden Chandler glanced at Wanda Quincy, then turned to get the scissors.
Jasper Ford’s skill with the scissors was not good; one might even call it clumsy. With a few snips that made it look like a dog had chewed on it, he chopped Wanda Quincy’s beautiful hair into a complete mess. But Wanda Quincy didn’t seem to care in the slightest, smiling like—an idiot?
