Chapter 76: Chapter 76: She Gave Me a Thrashing

Just like that, Anna was dragged all the way back to the company by Zachary Thornton. Once they were upstairs, he took out medicine and alcohol. "Where are you hurt?" he asked.

"I’m not hurt," Anna said, spreading her hands in confusion. "Look at me. Who told you I was injured?"

Zachary Thornton didn’t believe her. His expression darkened as he scanned Anna from head to toe, but he couldn’t find a single scratch on her. Still, he remembered his secretary saying she saw Wanda Quincy push Anna to the ground...

The more he thought about it, the angrier Zachary Thornton became. It wasn’t enough. "Come with me to Imperium Group," he said. "I’m going to demand an explanation from Jasper Ford."

Anna froze. ’Go after Jasper Ford over something like this?’ She quickly shook her head. "Don’t. What would be the point? We can’t afford to offend someone like Jasper Ford."

"Maybe *you* can’t, but I can. Let’s go." Without another word, Zachary Thornton grabbed Anna’s hand and started pulling her out.

Beanie, who had been sitting there in a daze, blinked his big, beautiful eyes and asked innocently, "Anna, should I wait here, or go with you?"

Only then did Anna remember Beanie was still there. She wrenched her hand free from Zachary’s grasp. "Beanie is here. You can’t go after him. I’m worried that psycho Wanda Quincy will fly into a rage and do something terrible to Beanie."

"He’s not your kid. Why are you so concerned about him?" Zachary Thornton said, displeased.

Anna said, "Vivian is my friend. She entrusted her child to me, so it’s my responsibility to protect him. I’ll get angry if you say things like that again."

Zachary Thornton fell silent and, in the end, didn’t press the matter further.

Beanie, sitting off to the side, could also sense that Zachary Thornton didn’t particularly like him, so he kept quiet all morning. Zachary ordered Anna to stay at the office until the end of the workday, and Beanie sat right beside her the entire time. He didn’t make a sound or cause any trouble, just ate on his own when he got hungry. His quiet, well-behaved demeanor was incredibly endearing. The young women who passed by were so captivated they couldn’t look away, pulling up chairs to sit next to him.

"He’s so cute! And so handsome."

"He’s like a little porcelain doll from a TV show. So adorable."

The two young women were utterly charmed by Beanie and offered to share their snacks with him. Beanie, however, politely refused and remained seated with perfect posture.

The young woman was delighted. "You’re so good! Can I touch your little cheek?"

"No, you may not." Beanie shook his head, his refusal firm.

The young woman sighed, "His voice is so sweet."

Beanie wore a sweet smile, but inwardly, he disliked being held by strangers. He sat on his little chair, tracing circles on his leg with a small hand. ’Ford is a big villain. He bullies Mommy at his company, and his fiancée even came to Anna’s company to bully them...’

Beanie thought for a moment, then took out his phone and sent a text message to Madam Ford. It read: "Miss Ford, Beanie’s not going to make it."

Less than a minute after he sent the message, his phone rang. It was Madam Ford, her voice laced with panic. "What is it, Beanie? What happened?"

Watching the young women walk away, Beanie viciously rubbed the corners of his eyes, forcing out a stream of hot tears. Using a choked, tearful voice, he said, "Wanda Quincy beat me."

"Her? Why on earth would she hit you?" Madam Ford was utterly shocked.

Beanie said, "She thinks I’m Ford’s bastard child. She stormed into my mommy’s company, dragged me out, and beat me up. She even hit my mommy too! I’m so miserable... I don’t want to live anymore..."

He cried with such sorrow, putting on a show of someone whose heart was breaking, on the verge of dying from despair. The people nearby were stunned!

Anna especially was wide-eyed, staring at the little guy in disbelief. ’His acting is too good!’

It was all a pack of lies, not a single word of it true, yet coming from his mouth, it sounded completely real!

Shortly after Beanie Quincy’s heartbreaking sobs and accusations, Madam Ford herself arrived at Anna’s company. Radiating a murderous aura, she marched straight to the top floor where Beanie was.

"Did Wanda Quincy come here to cause trouble for you?" Madam Ford asked Anna sternly, her entire being exuding an air of unapproachable pride and nobility.

Anna recognized Madam Ford. She glanced at Beanie, who was winking at her. Anna stood up and said, "She just brought a few bodyguards and had them rough us up a bit. They didn’t hit us too hard."

"So it is true!" A terrifying smile spread across her graceful, noble face. Madam Ford said to Anna, "I will teach that woman a harsh lesson and give you and your son the justice you deserve."

"Miss Ford, please don’t," Beanie pleaded pitifully. "Wanda Quincy only dares to do this because she has Ford to back her up. There’s no use in teaching just her a lesson. If you’re going to do it, you have to teach Ford a lesson too. But he’s your son, after all... so it’s better to just forget it. You shouldn’t let an outsider like me harm the relationship between mother and son." As he looked up, his eyes welled with tears, a truly heart-wrenching sight.

Anna was stunned! Truly, utterly stunned! ’This kid’s talent for fanning the flames is on another level,’ she thought. ’It’s simply unbeatable!’

The one thing Madam Ford couldn’t stand was seeing Beanie cry. She didn’t know why, but she cherished this little boy dearly. When he was at her home, she was constantly afraid he’d get a scrape or a bump. Wanda Quincy, on the other hand, had some nerve, bringing people to someone else’s company to assault them in public. Even if Jasper was protecting her, Madam Ford was going to show her a thing or two!

Madam Ford took Beanie to the Imperium Group, where, as it happened, Wanda Quincy was also present.

At that very moment, Wanda Quincy was in Jasper Ford’s office, crying. "Jasper, you have to help me! That Zachary Thornton is such a bully! Look, my hands and feet are bleeding. You have to teach him a harsh lesson for me."

Madam Ford threw the door open and strode in. "Teach who a lesson?" she demanded.

That powerful voice sent a shiver down Wanda Quincy’s spine. She turned around, and her tear-streaked face instantly went deathly pale. Her eyes widened in terror as she stared at Beanie Quincy, who was trailing behind Madam Ford. In an instant, all the strength seemed to drain from her body, and she collapsed onto the floor.

’Beanie Quincy?’

’How could he be with Madam Ford?’

’Have they found something out?’

Wanda Quincy was trembling with fear, and for a moment, she completely forgot how to speak.

Jasper Ford hadn’t expected his mother to show up, let alone radiating such a murderous aura. "Mom, what’s wrong?" he asked.

"You have the nerve to ask me what’s wrong?" Madam Ford pointed at Wanda Quincy on the floor. "This woman went to Beanie’s mother’s company and had them beaten up. Don’t you think you owe me an explanation for that?"

Jasper Ford’s expression darkened.

Wanda Quincy, terrified, hastily explained, "I didn’t do it."

"Yes, you did," Beanie said in his sweet, childlike voice.

Wanda Quincy glared at Beanie Quincy. "Don’t you dare lie." In her anger, her voice turned shrill.

Beanie bit his lip and burst out crying with a loud "WAAAH!" He tugged on Madam Ford’s sleeve. "Miss Ford, she hit me and now she’s yelling at me! WAHHH... I don’t want to live anymore!"

"Madam Ford, I didn’t! He’s lying!" Wanda Quincy cried out. She couldn’t believe how despicable Beanie Quincy was. ’When did he even get involved with Madam Ford? Why is the notoriously unreasonable and caustic old woman so protective of him?’
