Chapter 88: Chapter 88: Vivian Quincy is Done For

Vivian Quincy was standing right outside the breakroom. Hearing their discussion, her expression soured. Her mood was instantly ruined. She walked in with a cold face and raised her voice, "Excuse me, I need to get some water."

When Summer Jacobs saw it was Vivian Quincy, she smiled and said, "Morning, Vivian."

It was a fake smile, completely lacking the vitriol from when she was just gossiping about Vivian. She was quite the actress.

Vivian Quincy said expressionlessly, "Morning."

After filling her cup, she turned to leave.

Bianca Langley hadn’t expected Vivian to be so cold and couldn’t help but say, "You don’t think she heard what we were saying, do you?"

Summer Jacobs sneered, "So what if she heard? She’s the mistress, but we’re not allowed to talk about it? If she has the guts, she shouldn’t have done it in the first place."

Vivian Quincy, who was already several yards away, stopped and walked back.

Summer Jacobs subconsciously backed away, asking warily, "What are you doing?"

Vivian Quincy said, "You don’t know anything, but you open your mouth and just spew absolute filth. You’re no better, in my opinion."

Summer Jacobs’s face went pale from the scolding. She retorted angrily, "I’m not wrong! Who can you blame for your own sordid deeds?"

"Hah." Vivian Quincy let out a cold laugh and turned to leave.

Now she understood why everyone in the company was giving her such strange looks. It seemed Wanda Quincy had shifted the blame. So many people had seen them on that road after work last night. One person tells ten, ten tell a hundred—overnight was more than enough time for the news to spread throughout the entire company.

Even though they were all colleagues, the department was split into several factions. There were those close to Wanda Quincy, like Summer Jacobs, who would suck up to Wanda and report on Jasper Ford’s whereabouts whenever she visited. Then there was the neutral party, who kept to themselves and stayed out of it. The rest were the self-proclaimed righteous types. Although they didn’t verbally abuse or slander Vivian Quincy, you could see the disdain and disgust in their eyes.

In just one morning, Vivian Quincy had become the object of everyone’s contempt.

The more she thought about it, the more furious she became. ’Why should I have to put up with all this?’

And so, having reached her breaking point, Vivian Quincy finally threw down her work in a rage after Jasper Ford’s third meeting ended, pushed open his office door, and walked in.

Her department colleagues all looked up when they saw this.

Summer Jacobs said, "She must be going to tattle."

Bianca Langley was a little scared. "What if the President blames us?"

"What’s there to be afraid of? Does she think she’s in the right for being a mistress?" Summer Jacobs scoffed.

The Secretary General cleared his throat and warned in a low voice, "Summer Jacobs, please watch your words."

Vivian Quincy heard the comments from outside, and her pretty face contorted. She walked straight up to Jasper Ford’s desk, stopped, and called out defiantly, "President Ford."

The man at the desk slowly lifted his head, his gaze cool and sharp. "Is there something you need?"

Vivian Quincy took a deep breath. She knew her next words would most likely anger Jasper Ford, but she had to say them. "President Ford, can you please control your fiancée?"

This sentence stunned Jasper Ford. In fact, he was completely flabbergasted by Vivian Quincy’s question. It was the first time in his life anyone had been so bold as to speak to him in such a tone.

The project manager, who had been reporting to Jasper Ford, was also shocked by Vivian’s words. ’This little assistant is trying to defy the heavens!’ he thought. ’How dare she storm in here and badmouth the President’s fiancée to his face? Is her head too much trouble to carry around? Does she want the President to twist it off for her?’

The project manager was too nervous to speak.

Jasper Ford came to his senses. His flawless, impeccable features and cold, firm lines gave off a hint of heartlessness. "For instance?"

Vivian Quincy laughed in anger. ’For instance?’

Remembering the injustice she suffered yesterday and the humiliation she endured today, Vivian Quincy suddenly lost her fear. ’Why should I suffer for the sake of Jasper Ford’s pride?’ So, Vivian said, "Your fiancée has nothing better to do than come and cause trouble for me, insisting that I’m a mistress who seduced you. I need you to go home and have a good talk with your fiancée. Tell her I have no interest in you, and please, tell her to stop bothering me in the future." 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

The project manager’s expression changed, his eyes nearly popping out of his head. ’This assistant is something else!’

The project manager tried his best to remain composed and silent. He felt he had overheard something he shouldn’t have. ’Is this Vivian Quincy trying to get me killed? Couldn’t she have waited until I left to say all this?’

There was a noticeable change in Jasper Ford’s expression. He raised a hand toward the project manager and said, "You may leave."

"Yes, sir." The project manager scurried out.

Vivian Quincy wasn’t happy about this. She said sullenly, "President Ford, why did you send him out?"

"Oh? What did you have in mind?" the man asked, his voice melodic.

Vivian Quincy said, "You should go out there and explain to everyone that I’m not your mistress. I’m just your assistant."

She lifted her chin with dignity, her voice firm and proud, tinged with anger. She was, very clearly, displeased.

Jasper Ford thought that at this moment, Vivian Quincy looked just like a bristling fox, its ears perked up in anger. If it were winter, he suspected she’d be so mad that steam would shoot out of her ears before she jumped up and hit him.

Suddenly, he found her a little amusing.

The man’s long fingers tapped idly on the desk, a rhythmic sound as methodical as the man himself. He said, "Whoever is badmouthing you, take it up with them. Why are you coming to me?"

"So you’re saying you won’t do anything about it?" Vivian Quincy asked in disbelief.

Jasper Ford chuckled lightly. "It has nothing to do with me. Why should I get involved? It’s not like I started the rumor."

He washed his hands of the whole affair, taking on a completely detached, "none of my business" attitude.

Vivian Quincy was furious. She was truly, incandescently angry. Her puffed-up cheeks looked like a balloon about to pop. She said angrily, "Your fiancée started this rumor! To put it bluntly, that’s your wife-to-be slandering me. How can you say it has nothing to do with you?"

"I’m sorry, but she is not my fiancée anymore," Jasper Ford interrupted.

Vivian Quincy quickly retorted, "Nonsense! Everyone knows she’s your fiancée. Don’t try to deny it."

Jasper Ford propped his temple up with one hand, his eyes, more brilliant than the stars, twinkling with a bright, bewitching light. A half-smile played on his lips as he said, "That was in the past."

Seeing Jasper Ford’s posture, Vivian Quincy knew he really had no intention of getting involved. She bit her lip, hard, and glared at him!

Jasper Ford: "If there’s nothing else, you can go."

"I quit," Vivian Quincy said, letting out her frustration.

Jasper Ford nodded. "The breach of contract fee is five million. Go settle it with the finance department. You can be packed up and gone by noon."

"I..." ’I really want to strangle him!’ Vivian Quincy thought. ’I’m so angry! How can such a shameless man exist?!’

Jasper Ford looked up. "I’m not going to repeat myself a third time. Get out."

Vivian Quincy bit her lip, furious, but in the end, she didn’t say another word and turned to leave the president’s office.

She went on strike, ignoring everyone. No matter who asked her to do work, she refused.

The others saw this and started whispering behind her back that Vivian Quincy was putting on airs now that she’d hooked the President. Vivian paid them no mind. ’Since I’m unhappy, I’m not going to work. I don’t care what you all gossip about behind my back. As long as Jasper Ford doesn’t deal with Wanda Quincy, I won’t do a single shred of serious work. My reputation is already shot anyway. Working here is just suffering for no money. I’d be better off working for Jeremy King. That old lecher might be a creep, but at least he’s actually willing to pay!’

’Then there’s Jasper Ford. He has such a handsome face, but all he does is unscrupulous things. A magnificent, hundred-billion-dollar corporation’s boss—why is he so fixated on holding onto a good-for-nothing little assistant like me?’ The more she thought, the angrier she got.

Vivian Quincy muttered curses under her breath. Having not slept well the previous night, she soon drifted off to sleep as she grumbled.

The Secretary General came over to assign her some work, but Vivian Quincy ignored him. Just as he was about to shake her awake, he saw Jasper Ford walk out of his office and head straight for her. The Secretary General knew Vivian Quincy was done for.
