A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 89: I Wanted to Stop Her, but I Couldn’t
The head secretary gave Jasper Ford an awkward smile and gestured toward Vivian Quincy. "President, I think Assistant Quincy is just exhausted."
"I know," Jasper Ford replied coolly. He placed a file he had specifically brought from his office onto the desk and instructed the head secretary, "When she wakes up, have her sort this and put it on my desk."
A thick stack!
The head secretary gasped, gently wiping the cold sweat from his forehead. He nodded emphatically. "Yes, President."
Jasper Ford went to the conference room.
The other people in the department fell silent when they saw the thick stack of documents. ’That looks like enough work for ten people, doesn’t it? And the president is making Vivian Quincy do it all by herself?’
"Is she really the other woman?" one of the neutral colleagues couldn’t help but ask. "I’ve never seen a homewrecker have it this rough."
Summer Jacobs retorted, "Who says having a heavy workload means she isn’t a homewrecker?"
The neutral colleague replied, "From what I’ve seen, the president treats his own people very well. If Vivian Quincy were really his mistress, he wouldn’t treat her like this. Besides, have you all forgotten? Hayden Kaye, the young master of the Kaye family, is pursuing her. The Kayes may not be on par with the Fords, but they’re still a prominent family in Crestfall. Why would she need to be a homewrecker?"
Summer Jacobs said, "If she’s innocent, then why did Wanda Quincy slap her in public?" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"We all know what kind of person Wanda Quincy is." The neutral colleague was particularly disdainful of her. It was safe to say that every one of them had been given a hard time by Wanda Quincy at some point after joining the company. Just for being young and pretty, even though they were only secretaries, Wanda treated them all as rivals. It wasn’t the first or second time this had happened.
The head secretary coughed lightly as a warning. "All of you, be quiet. How would it look if outsiders heard you?"
The area fell silent.
The head secretary knocked on Vivian Quincy’s desk. "Get up. Finish your work first, then you can sleep."
Vivian Quincy groggily opened her eyes, glanced at the head secretary, and then silently put her head back down, refusing to work.
The head secretary said, "The president will be furious if he comes back to find you still sleeping. You should really think about how severe the consequences are when he gets angry."
Vivian Quincy was simmering with frustration. ’So what if Jasper Ford gets angry? What’s that got to do with me? Is he going to have me shot for it? Wait, shot...’
Vivian Quincy suddenly jolted up from her desk, breaking out in a cold sweat. "I’ll get to work right now!"
But when she saw the thick stack of documents on her desk, her face turned pale. She shot a look at the head secretary. "Are you sure this is all for me?"
"Yes. The president assigned it to you personally," the head secretary confirmed with a firm nod.
The corner of Vivian Quincy’s mouth twitched. ’How can that man be so petty! I was the one who got bullied. Was it so wrong to complain a little?’
’Jasper Ford, you bastard!’
Vivian Quincy gritted her teeth in frustration, but afraid she wouldn’t finish in time, she buried herself in the work.
When Jasper Ford came out of the conference room, everyone in the secretarial department greeted him—everyone except Vivian Quincy, who ignored him completely. When it was time to clock out, everyone else went to the cafeteria for dinner, leaving Vivian alone at her desk, still working.
She heard the distinct CLICK-CLACK-CLICK of high heels approaching from a distance. The sound was quite loud. Vivian Quincy looked up and saw Wanda Quincy walking toward Jasper Ford’s office, carrying a large food container.
"That damn couple!"
The girl sneered.
Her voice, neither loud nor soft, echoed through the empty secretarial department.
Wanda Quincy’s expression changed when she realized Vivian Quincy was the one who had spoken. She strode over. "Who are you cursing?"
Vivian Quincy kept a cold face and ignored her.
But Wanda Quincy wasn’t so easily fooled. She knew Vivian Quincy had been cursing at her. Snatching the document from her hands, she demanded, "I dare you to say that again. What’s with the silent act?"
"And if I don’t? Are you going to tear up my document?" Vivian Quincy challenged.
’This little bitch is so arrogant,’ Wanda Quincy thought. ’Does she really think I wouldn’t dare to do something to her? Fine, I’ll tear it!’
RIP! Wanda Quincy tore the document in two.
Vivian Quincy simply raised an elegant eyebrow, pulled out a different set of materials from her right—the ones Jasper Ford needed for his afternoon meeting—and went back to reading.
Being so deliberately ignored made Wanda Quincy feel utterly disrespected. She held such a lofty position! How dare a mere assistant like Vivian Quincy give her such an attitude?
Wanda Quincy snatched that file as well, threw it on the ground, and stomped on it. "Go on, keep up your act."
Vivian Quincy glanced at the file under Wanda’s foot, clicked her tongue, and a bright, knowing smile flickered in her eyes, though she said nothing.
Wanda Quincy noticed Vivian staring at her feet and assumed she was angry. She stomped on the document a few more times for good measure, then kicked it aside and headed for Jasper Ford’s office.
Jasper wasn’t in his office at this hour.
Wanda Quincy seemed to have been prepared for this, as she simply left the food container and turned to go.
Vivian Quincy called out, "What’s the hurry? The president will be back soon. Aren’t you afraid I’ll go wait for him in his private lounge?"
The threat made Wanda Quincy’s heart pound. Unable to guard Jasper Ford at all times, she was terrified Vivian would try something inappropriate. She had no choice but to stay put.
When Jasper Ford returned, he ignored everyone and went straight into a meeting. Vivian Quincy brought the trampled documents into the conference room and handed them to him.
At first, he didn’t pay it any mind. But then his hand came away covered in dirt. A murderous glint flashed in his eyes, and a dark expression crossed his handsome face. "Vivian Quincy, what is the meaning of this!"
His harsh question sent a shiver through everyone in the room. All eyes snapped to the documents in Jasper Ford’s hands. Seeing them covered in footprints, everyone sucked in a sharp breath.
’My god, how did the president’s documents end up like this?’
’Does this assistant have a death wish? How could she put something so filthy on his desk!’
All eyes were fixed on Vivian Quincy.
Vivian Quincy pinched the back of her hand hard. Blinking her big, pitiful eyes, which were now welling with tears, she looked utterly wronged. In a hoarse, guilt-ridden voice, she said, "I’m so sorry, President. President Quincy came by earlier. Without any explanation, she threw the documents you needed on the floor and stomped on them. I wanted to reprint them for you, but you needed them in such a hurry that I didn’t have time."
From the sound of her voice, it was clear she was on the verge of tears...
Everyone gasped.
’President Quincy? They mean Wanda Quincy?’
’It must be her!’
’Good heavens, did that woman really just cross the president?’
’Jasper Ford was a god-like figure in the company. Everyone, with the possible exception of Vivian Quincy, revered him as an omnipotent deity. They barely dared to breathe too loudly in his presence. But this Wanda Quincy... she waltzes in and tramples on the very documents the president requested. Does she think she can do whatever she wants?!’
As if she thought Jasper Ford wasn’t furious enough, Vivian Quincy pitifully wiped her eyes and continued in a tear-choked voice, "And that’s not all. Wanda Quincy also tore up the contract with the Rowan Group. I tried to stop her, but I couldn’t."
When she said this, the entire conference room fell deathly silent.
The executives all silently lowered their heads, pretending they hadn’t heard a thing.
The furious expression on Jasper Ford’s face began to crack...
Everyone could feel the temperature in the room drop by a dozen degrees in an instant, so cold that it made them shiver.
’This assistant needs to shut up and go make a new copy, now! Otherwise, the president is going to actually kill someone!’
