A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 282: THE PRESSURE ON CAIDEN
Chapter 282: THE PRESSURE ON CAIDEN
Sarah came to the pack house to find Caidan. Without Khaos and Bryden and also Gayle, who had just been promoted to be the Gamma. It was very obvious that Caiden who held the power in this pact at this moment.
That was why if there was someone who could move the warrior and lead them to the war, it would be him.
"Sarah, I can’t do that." Caiden looked at Sarah desperately.
"Why can’t you do that?!" Sarah looked agitated, she looked like she was going to cry while the baby in her arms moved uncomfortably, as if the little one could feel his mother’s despair.
Indeed, Sarah was desperate enough to urge Caidan to go into the battle.
"Please, please, you can’t do this. You know what he had done." Sarah put her baby within Caiden’s line of sight and this made him felt under the pressure.
Yes, Caidan knew, but he simply couldn’t bring himself to do something to Khaos. He couldn’t do that. "We will not engage in the war, that’s not our war."
"And then whose war is that? Don’t talk gibberish with me. Don’t tell me that’s not our war. You stand here instead of staying with Khaos, it means you have made your stand clear that you are against Khaos."
Sarah had gone through so much. Probably, she was being bias here, but she hated everything that related to River Creek pack. If it was not for Bryden, who had killed one of the elders in that pack and saved her life, she wouldn’t have been here.
She dreamt of having a family on her own and she was so close to get it, until Khaos killed Bryden and her world shattered right now.
"Do you think by not taking side you will survive this? Caiden, don’t look at me. Look at my baby. My baby has not yet met his father and now he will never meet him and it’s because of chaos. It’s because his father had done the right thing. His father only thought about their lifelong goal, the main goal. Something that Khaos had forgotten since he indulged himself after he met with that woman. How could he kill someone who had been staying by his side through everything?"
Sarah was getting a little bit emotion right now. She felt this bitterness. She felt the pain in her heart. She still remembered clearly the agony she had to go through when she learned the death of Bryden.
"How could he kill someone who treated him like his own son? He wouldn’t have been able to survive this far without Ezra’s help and that’s how he repaid him. Your father is a good person. He only thought about what’s best for their goal and offending the lycan."
"Sarah..."
Sarah shook her head, she had not done yet.
"All of this, should be more of Khaos responsibility than anyone else here. You do understand that right?"
Yes, Caiden did. Caiden did understand that. But, his stand still the same. He didn’t want to fight Khaos.
"I am sorry."
Sarah looked heartbroken. The crestfallen look on her face would haunt Caiden for the rest of his life.
Apparently, not only Sarah but Mabel also came with the same request. She wanted Caidan to lead the warrior. She even pressured him to go to Three Deadly Ways and met with king Logan and queen Rose, joining them in order to take down Khaos.
"He is ungrateful! I have been treating him like my own son but he killed my mate! I will never forgive that! He killed my mate for the mistake that he created himself! Only if he focused on our goal. All of this will never happen! It’s all because of him! It’s all because of him and his infatuation with that woman that caused all of this to happen! You couldn’t deny it. You couldn’t deny something like that!"
"Mother, you need to calm down." Caiden looked exhausted.
"I don’t want to calm down!" Mabel screamed on the top of her lungs. "I hate him! I should have strangled him when he was only a baby! I would still have my mate now! We shouldn’t have taken revenge on those people who had massacred the lycan! They deserve to die! All of the Lycan deserve to die! That kind of creature shouldn’t have existed in the first place!"
Mabel was so angry she couldn’t help herself.
However, Caidan still refused to go, and now when Sarah and Mabel couldn’t persuade him, the twins came to him.
Both of them hugged him tightly. They were crying. They wanted Caidan to kill Khaos too.
"Who told you about it?" Caiden hugged his twin brothers tightly, calmed them down. Both of them refused to tell Caidan, but he knew almost immediately who had taught the twins about it.
It must be Mabel. Mabel would be the one who had poisoned the twins about who had killed their father.
"Why don’t you kill him? Khaos is not a good person. He killed our our father," Otis cried.
"We cannot let him off like that. We need to take a revenge," Mave said.
These words were not the word that the twin used to say. Mabel had taught them.
Caiden didn’t know what to say anymore when he heard that. It broke his heart to see his brothers were crying, yet he still didn’t want to go to war. He didn’t want to fight Khaos, but he also didn’t want to help him.
He thought it was enough.
It made his stand clear. He couldn’t forgive Khaos, yet for the sake of their friendship, for all the things that they had gone through, he was willing to stay back, especially when he heard about what Zuri had done to Shadow.
Caiden would never be able to face her anymore without feeling like he wanted to kill her. That was why he stayed.
"I am sorry," Caiden said regretfully and the twin looked at him hatefully.
