A Night of Desire-Chapter 125: Let Yourself Go, and Let the Other Person Go
"..." Clara couldn’t believe it. At the very last second, he had actually sold her out.
’Damn you, Seth Quinn! Didn’t we agree not to tell anyone? Especially not the crew from *A Lifetime of Splendor*!’
’Now that Faye Jennings knows, doesn’t that basically mean the entire film crew—or even every employee at Aegis—will know too?’
"Oh, and another thing. You really shouldn’t be calling me ’Seth Quinn.’ It’s quite disrespectful for an employee to address a superior so informally. More importantly, it might give my wife the wrong idea.
"So, Miss Jennings, I’d appreciate it if you’d address me as President Quinn from now on. Finally, as for the fact that we’re married, I hope you won’t spread it around. My wife doesn’t want to make it public just yet."
With that, he stood, walked around her, and went to Clara’s side. He pulled her to her feet and headed for the door.
Behind him, he left only Faye Jennings, her face filled with shock and humiliation.
"Pay."
Still in a state of shock herself, Clara was snapped back to reality by Seth Quinn’s voice. She stared blankly at the cashier behind the counter before it dawned on her, and she hastily fumbled for her wallet.
It wasn’t until after she had paid and Seth Quinn had pulled her into the car that it finally hit her. ’Damn it, he said it was my treat, and he actually made me pay! He’s not the least bit as charming as Miles Quinn.’
Halfway through the drive, the frown on Clara’s face from her painfully empty wallet finally eased. Then she thought of Faye Jennings again and felt she was rather pitiable. To be so mercilessly rejected by Seth Quinn during her very first love confession...
She tried to put herself in the other woman’s shoes. ’How devastated would I be if I confessed to Miles Quinn and got rejected?’
’Besides, Faye Jennings has had a crush on him for much longer than I’ve had one on Miles. Her feelings must be much deeper, right?’
"Weren’t you... a little too harsh just now?"
"Harsh?" Seth Quinn knew she was referring to the things he’d said to Faye Jennings. "I don’t think so. In fact, it was for her own good. You should never give hope to someone you don’t like."
As he spoke, Seth Quinn glanced at her and added with a pointed look, "Besides, I’m a married man. The circumstances are inappropriate for her. Even if I did like her, I would sever those feelings immediately. When the situation is wrong, you shouldn’t indulge in fantasies. It’s better to spare yourself and the other person the trouble."
He was supposedly talking about himself, but Clara felt a pang of guilt. It was as if his words were aimed directly at her.
’He can’t possibly know that I like Miles Quinn, can he?’
’Wait a minute... Chloe Grant!’
Clara stole a glance at him. She desperately wanted to ask, ’Did Chloe Grant talk to you?’ but she didn’t dare.
’If Chloe hadn’t talked to him, asking about it would be as good as confessing, wouldn’t it?’
’Knowing Seth Quinn’s temperament, what would he do if he found out his wife was in love with his own brother?’
A chill ran down Clara’s spine just thinking about it. She quickly changed the subject, as if trying to flee her own thoughts.
"You told Faye Jennings we’re married. Aren’t you worried she might tell someone else?"
Even though he’d already warned her, Clara was still uneasy.
But the matter that worried her so much earned only a cool, three-word reply from Seth Quinn: "She wouldn’t dare."
Clara thought of her empty wallet again and scoffed. ’Heh,’ she thought mockingly, ’this just goes to show what a cruel, heartless, and vicious boss you are in your employees’ eyes.’
Seth Quinn turned his head just in time to catch her series of little expressions—the pout, the wrinkled nose, the glare. A small smile touched his lips, but he said nothing.
When they arrived in front of Clara’s apartment building, Seth Quinn brought the car to a smooth stop. Clara unbuckled her seatbelt and was about to get out when he stopped her.
He then handed her a bank card. "This is for you."
