Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Let Me Help You With Your Injury

"What?" Clara stared at the bank card for a long moment, her expression one of utter confusion.

"A bank card."

She rolled her eyes. Of course she knew it was a bank card.

"I mean, why are you giving it to me?"

"It’s for you, which means it’s for you to spend." Seth was starting to question her intelligence. ’I gave her a bank card, if not for spending, what’s she supposed to do with it? Put it on display in her room?’

"How much?"

Clara wondered to herself. ’Did he suddenly have a pang of conscience? Did he feel bad about letting a girl treat him, a grown man, to such an expensive meal?’

’So he figured he’d pay her back for dinner, to make sure she wasn’t left too strapped for cash.’

"I put five million in there to start. But don’t worry, I’ll get text alerts, and I’ll top it up whenever the balance gets low. So, no matter how much you spend or when you spend it, there will always be money."

Clara had initially reached out to take it. The card looked different from her usual ones, and she wanted to get a closer look.

But Seth’s words made her snatch her hand back the instant her fingers touched the card, as if it were a hot potato.

"Five million?" Her eyes went wide, and she stared at him like he was an idiot. "Why are you giving me so much money?"

"You’re my wife. Isn’t it only natural for a husband to give his wife money to spend?"

Seth raised a well-defined eyebrow and sighed inwardly. ’In any other family, when a husband gives his wife money, doesn’t she just accept it happily?’

’So why, when it came to him, did he have to explain so much? Why was it so difficult to give it away?’

"I can’t take this." Clara waved her hand dismissively.

"Why not?" Seth’s expression suddenly darkened. "Have you still not accepted the fact that you’re now my wife?"

"...Those are two different things." Clara struggled to explain. "This is... it’s too much."

’Even though she was his wife, and even though it was natural for a wife to spend her husband’s money, their marriage wasn’t like a normal one. Besides, her heart still belonged to another man.’

’Taking such a large sum of money from him just didn’t feel right.’

"Alright, I’ll hold onto it for now." To her surprise, Seth didn’t press the issue. ’She said it’s too much money,’ he thought. ’Fine. I’ll transfer some of it out another day and give it to her when there’s less in the account.’

As he pulled his hand back, Clara suddenly noticed the injury on the back of his hand again.

She was the kind of person who couldn’t rest easy unless she repaid every bit of kindness tenfold.

Whatever his reasons, she saw Seth’s offer of money as an act of kindness. Even though she hadn’t accepted it, it was the thought that counted.

Besides, she found that she was actually quite worried about his injury.

After a moment’s hesitation, just as Seth put the card away and looked up at her, she finally mumbled, "Your injury... Let me take a look at it upstairs."

As soon as she said it, her face grew warm. Without waiting to see if Seth agreed, she quickly pushed open the car door and got out.

A faint smile touched Seth’s lips. He got out of the car and followed her.

Back at the house, Clara had Seth sit in the living room and poured him a glass of water before going to find the first-aid kit.

As she carried the first-aid kit back toward Seth, she happened to glance up at the clock. It was already seven-thirty in the evening.

"AHH!"

The sudden shriek seemed to tear through the air. Even the normally unflappable Seth was so startled he nearly spat out the water in his mouth.
