A Night of Desire-Chapter 55: She Actually Felt Like It Was Another Lifetime
"Ah!"
Clara Grant let out a soft cry, then squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the inevitable "BANG."
But unexpectedly, the "BANG" never came. Instead, a crisp, pleasant voice sounded by her ear. "Clara, are you okay?"
Clara Grant’s eyes flew open to see Miles Quinn’s handsome, sunny, and cheerful face right in front of her.
For a moment, Clara Grant was in a daze, finding it hard to believe that the person before her was really Miles Quinn.
’He’s back from filming?’
Staring at his still-handsome face, Clara Grant felt as if a lifetime had passed.
’How long has it been since I last saw him? Three months, right?’
During these past three months, she was no longer like she had been a year ago, when she would eagerly await his return every time he left for work, hoping to see him as soon as possible.
For the past three months, she had been torn between wanting him to come back so she could see him, and dreading the thought of seeing him, afraid that he would act as if nothing was wrong, keeping his lips sealed, as if that incident from a year ago had never happened.
He could pretend that incident never happened, but her heart could no longer be at peace.
At least, when she was with him, she couldn’t act as naturally and serenely as she used to.
And so, Clara Grant was lost in her thoughts, her eyes fixed on the man in front of her without blinking.
It wasn’t until the envious whispers and camera shutter sounds from the surrounding crowd pulled Clara Grant back to her senses that she realized she was in Miles Quinn’s arms.
Her heart instantly began to pound. A blush spread across her face, and she quickly straightened up, thanking Miles Quinn. "I’m fine. Thank you, Senior Quinn."
Miles Quinn propped up the electric scooter he was holding with his other hand and smiled at her. "Good to hear. You should be more careful when you ride from now on. After all, you won’t always be lucky enough to run into a hero like me, ready to save a damsel in distress!"
As he spoke, he winked his right eye at her. He didn’t seem like a high-and-mighty, dazzling superstar, but more like a playful boy next door.
That simple gesture immediately triggered a fresh wave of "AHHHH!" screams from the crowd of fangirls.
Miles Quinn glanced at them and added with a smile, "But you should also thank them. If they hadn’t stopped me for photos and autographs, I would’ve been in class by now, and there’d have been no one to save you."
Clara Grant gave a couple of dry laughs. "Right, right. Thank you, Senior Quinn. And thank you, dear upperclassmen and underclassmen."
But inwardly, she grumbled, ’If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have fallen in the first place!’
Chloe Grant’s red Audi pulled up from behind. Ivy Vance, sitting in the front, was the first to see the scene ahead.
"Chloe, look ahead. I think that’s Young Master Quinn."
Chloe Grant, who had been leaning back in the rear seat with her eyes closed, feeling smugly composed now that she thought she had something on Clara Grant, immediately sat up straight and craned her neck to look ahead upon hearing Ivy Vance’s words.
’Who else could that magnificent and distinctive man walking slowly up ahead be but Miles Quinn? It wasn’t a waste to get up so early for school today; I ran into him the moment I arrived.’
"Stop the car, stop the car," Chloe Grant immediately ordered the driver, her face lighting up with a smile.
The driver stopped the car at once. Chloe Grant quickly got out and walked toward Miles Quinn.
By this time, the crowd surrounding Miles Quinn and Clara Grant was gradually dispersing. The girls left in groups of two and three, chattering excitedly as they walked away.
