Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 202: Fancy Food
Following behind Isabella the four girls were led to a district of the city that they had not been too before. Here the streets were much wider than they were near the city entrance, coupled with small plant life that lined the center of the street.
The plants in question seemed to be a subterranean form of a flowering plant, their leaves releasing a slight glow matching the various colours that the flowers were. Some being a vibrant blue, to reds and yellows. It lit up the street in a wonderful collage of colours that worked surprisingly well with the golden and blue glow of the crystals and fungi covering the cavern ceiling.
As for the buildings that made up this district, they were a mix of large residential houses and fancy looking shops. They all shared the same general aesthetics of the city, that being one of attention to detail and fine craftsmanship, apparently a staple of dwarven workmanship.
The commercial buildings seemed to cater to a richer clientele that the smaller more general shops, each one seeming to specialise in a particular craft.
The girls saw shops dedicated to nearly everything that they could think off. From a shop focused of shoes and other footwear, to a shop that seemed to specialise in supplying high quality axe engravings of all things.
As the girls took in the surroundings Isabella acted as a tour guild for them, explaining some of the history of the city and pointing out some of the more famous shops that they passed by.
Soon enough though they arrived at their destination. It was a grand building, easily 4 stories high with a grand set of double doors engraved with a variety of animals that seemed to be almost alive with how detailed the engravings were.
When they were led inside a smartly dressed young man greeted them. "Greetings dear guests, welcome to the Golden Beast do you have a reservation with us this evening?"
"We don’t have one no, but I come here with both the first and second place victors in todays tournament in the Lord bracket. We are hoping to have a private room with the full service package." Isabella smoothly answered, it did not escape the girls notice that the attendants eyes seemed to light up at the mention of them having won the tournament.
"Of course, we would be happy to host such esteemed guests. Please follow me and I shall show you to your room." Saying so the man gestured for them to follow behind him and then led them up to the stairs at the back of the building.
From there they were led up to the 2nd floor and along the corridor there to a door which he promptly opened and ushered the girls inside.
Within the room was a long and low table, cushions were situated around it, clearly intended to be used as a seat. Following Isabella’s lead they soon situated themselves down, Isabella taking up the head of the table with Violet and Luna on one side and Rhyana and Susan on the other.
"Will the honoured guests prefer any particular drink this evening or shall we pair your drinks with the food as it arrives?" The server asked.
"Hmm please just serve what fits with the meal please, that will be all for now thank you."
With that the sever bowed and swiftly exited the room leaving the girls alone. "This place seems really fancy." Susan noted.
"Well it is one of the finest restaurants in all of the city so they do keep things to a certain standard." Isabella replied.
"Will it not be quite expensive then?"
"Oh undoubtedly it will be yes. But please do not worry about the cost, think of this as a gift from myself to celebrate your victory." The elf said whilst nodding towards Luna. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Susan frowned at that before asking. "You made a lot of money off them winning didn’t you?"
To her credit Isabella did look a touch embarrassed at that question. "Cough.. umm I may have placed a sizeable bet on one of the two of you winning the tournament... the reward of which was quite substantial." She even averted her gaze from the girls in question as she admitted that fact.
"Ohh what’s a bet?" Violet asked innocently.
The question surprised Isabella so much that she was snapped out of her embarrassed state and instead stared at the dragon girl with a hint of incredulity. "Eh?" She blurted out, only to quickly clamp her hand over her mouth in surprise, her cheeks flushing pink.
Susan laughed at that before quickly explaing the concept of placing bets to Violet, saving Isabella from any further embarrassment.
"Ohh that makes sense, I wonder if I should have placed a bet in that case. How much did you win?"
Isabella seemed initially reluctant to answer the question but quickly relented and answered. "Well I took quite the risk and bet 10 gold on either of you two winning. I managed to get just under 500 gold back as a reward, it’s one of the better bets I have placed." She seemed quite proud of herself at that.
"Hu is that a lot? Didn’t we spend over 5 times that in that magic shop?" Violet asked innocently, she turned to face Susan when asking that so missed the look of utter shock on Isabella’s face when she said that.
"Umm Violet, a regular person could probabally live for an entire year on just a single gold coin. So yes that is a lot of money." Susan explained.
But before Violet could respond to that the doors once more opened allowing in 2 servers, each pushing a trolley of sorts. Stop each trolley was a selection of dishes with various types of food. The smell instantly attracted all 3 beasts present, it caused all of them to begin salivating at the delectable array of food.
The servers quickly began to lay out the food on the table before the girls. Placing a empty plate in front of them, they began to portion out the food for them, quickly turning the once empty plates into an array of beautifully prepared foods.
Violet was so engrossed in the smell of the food that she completely missed the servers explaining the dishes, only holding herself back from devouring it long enough for the servers to leave the room.
The sound of the door closing was like a signal gun, instantly the three beasts dug in to the food.
Flavours exploded in their mouths, blending together to create a melody of tastes that exceeded anything that they had ever eaten before.
The room was filled with naught but the sounds of eating and the small moans of pleasure as everyone dug into the array of foods laid out before them.
Violet hardly even noticed when the servers re entered the room replace the empty dishes with new and different food items.
She was so lost in the experience that she only realised what she was doing when she went to take the next bite only to realise that their was no more food to eat. Violet looked about in confusion, her brain taking a moment to understand that they had already eaten everything provided.
However, she was wrong in that assessment as the servers once more entered the room, this time not baring regular dishes, but carrying deserts.
Violet had never tasted desert before now, only eating what could be considered main courses. So when she tasted her first bite of the sluggers desert her mind blanked out almost instantly from the bliss she experienced.
She once more entered a state of mindless consumption as she dove into this new and delectable for of food that had instantly become her new favourite thing to eat.
