Affinity: Chaos-Chapter 1805: Activities In The City Lord’s Manor
Grey’s pain-stricken screams continued for a long time. Void stood in the same stop watching on as Grey screamed while clutching his head in pain. There was nothing he could do as the pain Grey was enduring was directly related to his consciousness. Matters regarding one’s consciousness are quite difficult to deal with. Take for instance, the time Grey accidentally harmed Void’s consciousness due to wanting to understand the intricacies of the space element. At the time, Grey did everything he could, even venturing into the dangerous Magical Beast’s Forest searching for something that could fix any damages to one’s consciousness.
In the end, even with everything Grey did, he was still unable to get Void to wake up. The latter woke up surprisingly on his own, well, Grey’s efforts shortened the time he stayed in a comatose state.
After screaming for who knows how long, Grey’s cries started to die down. From his voice one could clearly hear the tiredness and exhaustion. It’s not that he wasn’t going through the suffering of having his consciousness shredded, rather, he had lost all the strength to scream. His figure was only shaking repeatedly from the pain, looking at him, he didn’t seem different from someone having occasional seizures as he would remain still for some time before his body would involuntarily vibrate.
The scene continued for about an hour extra or so before Grey stopped all movements. Even his breathing slowed down considerably. He could almost even come off as dead to some people because his heart was beating only once every five minutes. When this happened the first time, Void almost went insane at the thought of Grey losing his life to the torture. Only after a few seconds did he realize that his link with Grey was still there, albeit very faint, it was still there.
This was all he needed to know thy Grey was still alive. As long as Grey was alive, then there’s hope of him being able to recover. He knew of how freakish Grey’s recovery ability was. Knowing that Grey’s body currently contained more strength than when he entered here, he knew that as long as Grey passed through this phase, he will be better than okay once he awakes. freeweɓnovel.cøm
Five days went by in a flash.
The McCall Manor.
In the Hall where Grey met with the six leaders of the McCall Family, all six were present, their somber expressions a testament to their concern.
The Old man in blue, who had initially strongly opposed allowing Grey to enter the cave abode, spoke up. "It’s been days already, and he is yet to emerge. Do you think he might have perished inside?"
From how difficult it was to enter the cave abode, he didn’t think it would be without its dangers. This Old man isn’t the only one who felt that there was danger hidden in the cave abode. Even while breaking the seal they’ve also seen the threat it posed firsthand.
Henry McCall, the current Family Head of the family countered, "Cultivation doesn’t happen overnight. You’ve gone into retreat many times – how many of those lasted only a week?" His perspective differed from the Old man’s, largely due to the debt of gratitude he owed Grey, who had saved his life during their first encounter.
The Old man in blue took a glance at Henry while snorting cOldly, turning his gaze to the Old man in black. The Old man in black seemed to be the leader of the six, making him the number one decision maker in the family. If he decided that they should investigate if Grey was still alive, then they’d rush in without a second thought. The Old man in blue hoped to hear something like that. Alas, he was doomed to be disappointed as the Old man in blue didn’t have such thoughts.
"We should deal with the more important things. I heard news that there are movements in the City Lord’s Manor, we don’t know if this has anything to do with him or us." The Old man in black voiced his true worries. Since Grey came back from the City Lord’s Manor, he had been a little worried about how the City Lord’s Manor would react hence the reason he placed a lot of importance in getting any information coming out of the City Lord’s Manor.
He recently found out that the City Lord’s Manor isn’t as peaceful as it used to be. He even found out that the City Lord is also actively involved in whatever was happening. Knowing that Grey went there and left unscathed after most likely offending the City Lord’s Manor, he was worried they were preparing for an attack. If the City Lord’s Manor has any intention of fighting with Grey, then the McCall Family will be the first to fall.
Hearing the matter of the City Lord’s Manor, the faces of everyone became even more serious. Unlike Grey or the force he came from, they were familiar with the workings of the City Lord’s Manor and knew how ruthless they were when dealing with anyone who offended them. Especially one without any significant backings. Grey might be safe, but that wasn’t the case for those in the McCall Family. They were at the forefront of the danger, and if they don’t proceed with caution, then there’s a chance that the McCall Family will finally be wiped out from the face of the world.
"If they really attack us, then we have no choice but to enter the cave abode." The Old man in blue voiced out a suggestion. Hearing his suggestion, everyone knew that there was an ulterior motive behind it, but even the Old man in black knew that if things came to that scenario, then the Hill was their only hope of survival. They’ve spent countless years trying to find a safe path through the array. It’s not that they were trying to break it, they didn’t have the ability to achieve this. However, at least sneaking in isn’t a problem.
