After Being Blackened All Over the Internet, I Ruled the Military Variety Shows-Chapter 6 Shen Yunqing
Chapter 6 - 6 Shen Yunqing
After scrutinizing for a moment the marriage certificate that was somewhat similar in nature to an old marriage contract, Jiang Lingxi opened it without hesitation.
She was never someone who hesitated in the face of challenges.
The first thing that came into view was a photo that captured every detail.
With a bright red background, the face in the photo looked exactly like hers, though there was a slight attempt at a smile, the eyes and expression revealed some nervousness and restraint.
The man beside her was in a lead-gray suit, his face was elegant with raised brows and phoenix eyes, yet upon closer inspection, he seemed a bit nonchalant.
The more Jiang Lingxi looked, the more she felt something was amiss. These two people had none of the shyness and affection of newlyweds; it seemed as if they were forcibly brought together, the more she observed, the more discordant it appeared.
After glancing over the certificate holders, she looked at the certificate date below.
When she was in the living room earlier, she had seen a modern electronic calendar and just had to think a little to calculate that the certification date of this marriage certificate was about half a year ago.
Only half a year into marriage, logically they should still be in a honeymoon phase, yet the original hadn't left her with any information about this newly-wedded husband. Does this make sense?
This must be a fake marriage!
Holding the marriage certificate, Jiang Lingxi leaned back against the headboard, narrowed her eyes a bit, and pressed her temple with the other hand.
After mentally reviewing the remnants of the original's memory nearly once more, she finally found some clues.
However, all that was left was a somewhat blurred face and the cold voice of the man saying, "You just need to marry me. You don't need to fulfill any marital duties. I'll help solve your father's debt issue."
It indeed was a trade!
Jiang Lingxi opened her eyes, her gaze falling on the name below the picture belonging to the male side.
"Shen Yunqing."
That name made her raise her brows, evoking the memory of another all too familiar name.
Shen Moqing.
Her, the Prime Minister!
He was the only one in the former court who dared to directly advise her, even angering her countless times, yet she couldn't bear to dismiss him due to his talents and ideals.
If you were to ask her who she trusted most in the previous life, the first would naturally be herself, and the second wasn't Qing Yuan who had served by her side since childhood, but Shen Moqing.
Being an emperor had its advantages, as she knew the background of every minister in the court, to the point of tracing back eighteen generations.
She knew well that Shen Moqing originally also came from a prominent family, but for certain reasons severed ties with his family from a young age. To further emphasize the severance, he changed the 'Yun' in Shen family's lineage name to 'Mo,' white to black, to manifest his determination to break away from the large Shen family.
He was originally also called Shen Yunqing!
Thinking of this, Jiang Lingxi couldn't help but glance again at that photo with a red background; when she left, Shen Qing was also nearing forty, like others, had grown a mustache to appear more dignified, yet in modern terms, he was still a handsome distinguished gentleman.
Imagining what he would look like without a beard, and then comparing him with the man in the photo, there were indeed a few similarities.
The last thought that echoed in Jiang Lingxi's mind before going to sleep was: she should find an opportunity to meet this so-called other half whom even the original couldn't clearly recall the appearance of!
*
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the curtains, with one playful ray bouncing onto the face still sound asleep in the center of the room's large bed.
The person on the bed frowned slightly as a result, turned to face away from the window, and lazily began to speak as she squinted, "Qing Yuan, what time is it?"
As the words fell, a cautious knock sounded timely on the door.
"Sister Xixi, breakfast is ready. Are you up yet?"
Jiang Lingxi sat up abruptly, instantly awake.
"Awake, coming." Responding to the one outside, she exhaled softly only after hearing the departing footsteps.
She needed to change some habits from her past life. Now, she no longer had that ever-present figure constantly within her sight.
Lu Zhengzheng put the freshly made hot breakfast on the dining table, and upon hearing the door of the master bedroom open as she placed the cutlery, she quickly turned her head to look over.
Seeing a face that wasn't full of impatience as if roused from sleep, she quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Honestly, she felt a bit afraid that yesterday's Xixi, who was strong yet gentle, was just a dream, only to revert to her old self overnight.
Thank goodness, she hadn't changed!
"Sister Xixi, I cooked millet porridge with brown sugar, there are buns and small rolls in the fridge; I've heated some. You don't like boiled eggs, so I made stir-fried cucumber and wood ear with eggs. Check if it suits your taste."
As Jiang Lingxi approached the dining table, she saw Lu Zhengzheng quickly pulling out a chair for her, she could only follow the motion and sit down, "Alright, you sit and eat too."
She could sense the young girl handling her with caution, as if afraid of saying or doing something wrong.
But thinking back on how the original treated this young assistant, Jiang Lingxi could understand it.
The entertainment circle already had its stresses, as everyone entered striving to stand out. But top positions are limited, you have to fight tooth and nail to climb up, and once there, you're constantly on guard to prevent others from displacing you.
The pressure of this can be imagined.
But this is no excuse for indiscriminately oppressing those serving you!
She always remembered a sentence she read as a youth: "Those who oppress others are in turn oppressed by others."
When you unrestrainedly oppress others, there will come a day when you are suppressed by others too.
Once the person across finished eating and wiped her lips with a napkin, Lu Zhengzheng cleared her throat and reported, "Sister Xixi, while I was cooking just now, Sister Tong called saying she's on her way and should be here in half an hour."
Having the agent come meant work was also arriving.
Jiang Lingxi nodded, "Okay, I know."
Lu Zhengzheng cautiously and earnestly observed, and seeing the person in front showed no sign of reluctance or similar emotions, quietly let out a sigh of relief, and, getting up to tidy up in the kitchen, took out her phone and sent a message to Tong Yue: "Sister Xixi seems to be in a good mood today."
While driving, Tong Yue glanced at the just-received message, also exhaling softly.
The "Travel Together" team, whether directors or guests, even the behind-the-scenes staff must have some grievances against Jiang Lingxi. No, very likely, quite a bit!
After all, the delay had caused monetary losses, not to mention wasted time, the show needs to air on schedule, and the editing team would have to work overtime.
One person's willfulness leading to such serious consequences, she'd resent too if she were them.
She genuinely feared Jiang Lingxi would dread returning to the show with everyone's discontented eyes, pulling another retreat last-minute, in which case her role as a manager might also come to an end!
With this thought, she stepped harder on the gas, her already swift car accelerating once more.

The program recording can't be delayed any longer; today she had to get Jiang Lingxi to the crew no matter what!
