After Divorcing the Tycoon, I Married into a Wealthy Family Again-Chapter 54: You degrade yourself, don’t involve me
Chapter 54: Chapter 54: You degrade yourself, don’t involve me
"Right!" Florence nodded in agreement. "She really cares about you. She was willing to trade her shares with me to get you into Light Film Industries."
Clara Fuller was shocked and looked at her incredulously, "What did you say?"
Florence raised an eyebrow, "Otherwise, did you think I’d just let you in for free? I’m not that generous."
"Bitch!" Clara’s eyes were like venomous snakes, "That’s my stuff."
Laura had once said she would give her shares as a dowry, so how did they become Florence’s?
"Give them back to me!" She couldn’t hold back, "Florence, how can you be so opportunistic."
"Have you forgotten our fundamentally incompatible relationship?" Florence lifted her eyes, filled with disdain, "Helping you unconditionally? Ridiculous!"
Without thinking, Clara swung the wine glass in her hand towards Florence, but Florence sidestepped, causing the wine to splash and then stumble, falling to the ground.
The wine glass in her hand shattered on the floor.
Someone noticed the commotion.
"Quick, call Young Master Gardiner."
Clara snapped back to reality, stunned as if struck by lightning.
Why did she throw the wine?
In such a setting... it worked against her.
Faced with Florence’s mocking gaze, Clara vaguely sensed trouble.
Clara hurried over and squatted down, "Florence, how did you fall? Are you okay?"
Florence looked at her, her red lips slightly pursed, avoiding Clara’s hand reaching out to touch her.
Luke Gardiner arrived quickly, seeing her on the ground, her porcelain-white arm with red wine slipping down, surrounded by shattered pieces, his eyes gleaming, lips slightly pursed, a hint of sadness.
"What happened?" He squatted down to help Florence up.
"We were just having a good conversation," Clara preemptively said, "Florence probably just lost her balance...."
"You splashed me," she looked seriously at Clara, "We had a bit of an argument, you got mad and splashed me. I fell because I was trying to avoid you."
She leaned against Luke Gardiner’s embrace, her delicate face showing a look of distress, her eyes seemingly moist, a look of restraint that evokes sympathy.
Clara shivered all over; this was a trick she had always relied on.
"We saw from the side." Someone wasn’t fooled, "Young Master Gardiner, it was she who splashed Mrs. Gardiner first."
Luke Gardiner’s handsome appearance took on a layer of coldness, "You’re Florence’s sister. Because you said you hadn’t seen her for a long time, I let you come here, only for you to splash her."
Florence held onto Luke Gardiner’s clothes, "Forget it, maybe she’s just a bit upset."
Such magnanimous Mrs. Gardiner.
"It’s not..." Clara opened her mouth to explain, but couldn’t find the words. The looks of accusation and spectators on her left her with nowhere to hide.
"Aren’t you usually quite hot-tempered?" Luke Gardiner looked down at Florence in his arms, "She splashed you... and you just endured it."
Upon hearing, Florence glanced timidly at Clara, "Mom really likes her, I can’t provoke her. At home, I always had to yield to her."
If Clara wants to continue mingling in SJ City, then she should experience everything she suffered before.
Let her also experience this feeling of walking on thin ice.
Luke Gardiner frowned; he didn’t know much about Florence’s issues, very little. Just knew she returned to the Fuller Family later, but how she truly lived in the Fuller Family, he was clueless.
Florence was the biological daughter of the Fuller Family.
Wasn’t Clara the one adopted back then?
"Mrs. Gardiner is the biological child of the Fuller Family, right."
"Of course, she was lost back then, and the Fuller Family adopted one to raise. This one was found later, wasn’t she?"
"Wow. It’s clear who’s the real one, why does the real one still have to worry about the fake one?"
"Didn’t you hear? People say the mom likes the fake one."
The whispers were not quiet; back and forth words pressured Clara into a corner, and she looked at Florence incredulously, never expecting the trick she once used would be repaid in the same way.
"Oh my." A female voice pierced through the crowd, and the person squeezed out to repeatedly mock Clara, "You use your sister’s identity in the company to snatch resources, snatch endorsements. Why would you turn around and bully people."
The speaker was Beatrice Sussex, her father was in the board layer of Light Films. Logically, her resources in the company shouldn’t be lacking, but she happened to run into Clara, who touted her sister as Mrs. Gardiner and brother-in-law as Luke Gardiner. What Beatrice had was snatched away by Clara.
In less than half a year, two major female lead films were set to release this year.
After hearing Beatrice’s words, many showed contempt when looking at Clara.
"Drive her out!" Luke Gardiner said with a somber face as he left with Florence.
Clara was left stunned, Beatrice gleefully walked over, "Did you think SJ City is as familiar as Cloudsea City to you?"
Clara stared at her fiercely, and Beatrice directly stated her intention, "You wanted to use your sister’s identity to make friends in SJ City. See how many people dare to get close after tonight. It’s not unusual for a dog to bite, but it’s my first time seeing a bully dog biting its master."
"Beatrice, don’t be excessive. Didn’t I just snatch a few endorsement scripts from you?"
"What do you mean by a few!" Beatrice replied coldly, "The scripts my dad invested in, you want them just like that. If not for the Gardiner Family’s face, who in the company would bother with you? Hurry up and leave, the security is clearing people out..."
Clara gritted her teeth, anger simmering as she left.
Once outside the banquet hall, Florence pushed Luke Gardiner away, who chuckled, "Use and discard."
"You’re not being used," Florence replied coldly, following the guiding staff to the lounge.
"I’ve not lied about these people’s identities, have I? Knowing them benefits you without drawbacks."
Near the lounge door, Florence turned and looked at him, "Tonight I’ve given you enough face, Luke Gardiner. This won’t happen again."
Luke Gardiner, "I just wanted you to come to my birthday party, but if I told you the truth, would you have come?"
Florence, "Coming or not is my decision."
Luke Gardiner snorted, "You wouldn’t have come."
"So you deceived me." Florence said, "What was the point this time? Last year and the year before I wasn’t there, yet you partied gleefully regardless. Why, this year you brought me over to act as loving spouses before these people, telling them Luke Gardiner brought his wife out; no matter how I play outside, my wife and I have a good relationship?"
Florence coldly stared at him, "Luke Gardiner, keep your nonsense to yourself."
"I didn’t mean that..."
