After My Death, the Love-struck CEO Begs for Reconciliation-Chapter 12: A Final Goodbye
During this time, Serena Sullivan continued to relentlessly show off her romance on social media.
Showing Julian Lancaster taking her to Michelin restaurants, accompanying her to ski in Switzerland, and buying her an entire vineyard.
Seeing these again, I felt no ripples in my heart.
As days passed by, discharge day soon arrived.
I had just packed my things when I received a call from an unknown number.
"Miss Everard, the admission letter from Cymbell Academy of Perfumery in Caelus has arrived. When would you be available to pick it up?"
Hearing this news, a sense of relief appeared on my face, and my voice turned much lighter.
"I’m free this afternoon, may I ask what time is the latest I can come by?"
I listened attentively to the other end’s reply, not noticing the door of the ward being pushed open.
Julian Lancaster walked in with a furrowed brow and a cold tone mixed with a hint of confusion.
"What are you going to the consulate for?"
Seeing him, the smile on my face instantly faded, and I hung up the call.
"Nothing you need to worry about, it’s none of your business."
Hearing my icy tone, Julian Lancaster’s expression darkened.
"None of my business? Don’t forget, you’re my fiancée now. I have the right to know your whereabouts."
"I’m not your fiancée, your Muse is Serena Sullivan."
I looked at him steadily, my tone as calm as still water.
Julian initially had some doubts, but they vanished instantly upon hearing my words.
He thought I was being jealous again, playing hard to get, so he went along with my words.
"Yes, I was just using you. In my heart, Serena is the most important! So I’ve decided to give her a proper status publicly, with our engagement party being tomorrow, and you must attend to witness it."
Seeing the invitation he tossed over, my eyes flickered subtly, and I laughed silently.
"Rest assured, I’ll prepare a grand gift for you tomorrow."
Noticing my unexpectedly calm reaction, Julian Lancaster sensed something wasn’t right.
He was about to ask more when Serena’s call came through.
"Julian, when will you come to pick me up? I can’t wait to try on the dress!"
Hearing her coy voice, Julian instantly put everything else aside.
He coaxed her while turning to leave.
Before stepping out, he remembered something and turned back to add.
"Oh, I’ve transferred the villa in the suburbs to Serena’s name. You can move back to the city apartment as compensation for creating a fragrance for her the other day."
I watched him walk away step by step, mumbling softly.
"Compensation? The only compensation I want is to draw a clear line between us and never have contact again in this lifetime."
After completing the discharge procedures, I went to the consulate to get the admission letter.
Returning home, I placed the recorded audio from before and evidence of Aethel Group’s tax evasion in an exquisite perfume gift box and ordered a same-city delivery.
"Please deliver this to the address on the invitation at noon, and give it to a Mr. Lancaster, saying it’s a wedding gift from Clara Everard, wishing him a bright future and a stay behind bars."
After finishing up, I checked the time and left for the airport with my suitcase.
At eleven-thirty, I boarded a flight to Caelus and blocked and deleted all of Julian Lancaster’s contact details.
Outside the window, light rain began to fall; the city where I had lived for over twenty years slowly shrunk, turning into a vague black dot.
I closed my eyes, letting myself drift into a dreamland, feeling calm and fearless inside.
I knew the nightmare that spanned two lifetimes had ended.
From now on, my life will only be filled with sweet dreams.
