After My Death, the Love-struck CEO Begs for Reconciliation-Chapter 13
At the break of dawn, Julian Lancaster picked up Serena Sullivan and brought her to the hotel for makeup preparation.
She nestled in his arms, constantly acting coquettishly, "Julian, will Clara really come later?"
Julian Lancaster smiled, ruffling her hair, "Yes, don’t you want her to witness it personally?"
"There’s no one in the world who understands me better than you."
He kissed her forehead tenderly, holding her lovingly in his arms.
Upon arrival at the venue, Julian Lancaster and Serena Sullivan were separated to change into their outfits.
Julian sat alone in the lounge, repeatedly checking his phone, yet there was not a single message from Clara Everard.
As he watched the clock’s hands move slowly, he proactively made a call, only to find the other person’s phone turned off.
Today was Serena Sullivan’s eagerly anticipated engagement banquet, and she hoped Clara would be able to witness it, but now she had turned off her phone, likely out of jealousy and moodiness.
By noon, the crystal chandeliers in the wedding venue made the entire banquet hall glimmer brightly. Julian Lancaster stood at the edge of the red carpet, his gaze frequently darting towards the entrance. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Serena Sullivan, dressed in a pristine gown, waited patiently backstage.
Julian Lancaster stood at a distance, watching, with deepening eyes.
Half an hour had already passed since the ceremony was supposed to start, yet Clara Everard still hadn’t arrived.
The master of ceremonies prompted once again from the stage, and Julian Lancaster frowned, glancing at his watch.
He originally thought Clara would at least come and make a scene, but she truly hadn’t come, which instead stirred a strange sense of irritation within him.
"Julian, shall we begin? The guests are all waiting." Serena Sullivan seemed impatient, walking up to take his arm, frowning coquettishly.
"Alright." Julian Lancaster agreed and took Serena Sullivan’s hand.
Just as he turned around, the door was suddenly pushed open.
Julian stifled his surprise and quickly turned his head, only to see a deliveryman.
"Who is Mr. Lancaster? Here’s your same-city express delivery."
All the guests turned their gaze simultaneously towards the entrance, and Julian Lancaster furrowed his brows even tighter, striding down from the red carpet.
"What’s the matter? Why deliver now, can’t you see we’re holding an engagement banquet?"
His face showed displeasure, as if venting the anger from waiting onto the deliveryman.
"Sorry, Miss Everard specifically instructed to deliver at this time, saying it’s an important gift."
After saying this, the deliveryman promptly turned and left, leaving Julian Lancaster alone in puzzlement.
Clara Everard? Why did she not attend the engagement banquet but instead go to the trouble of sending a same-city delivery?
The box was light, yet for some reason, he felt a heavy heart. Everything seemed so abnormal.
"What’s the matter, Julian?" Serena Sullivan approached, showing impatience, and upon hearing it was sent by Clara Everard, appeared even more displeased.
"If she wasn’t coming, she could’ve at least given a heads up, what a waste of time."
"Let’s start quickly, Julian."
Julian Lancaster knew the priority was to quickly begin the ceremony, but his hand couldn’t help but open the box.
Inside was a beautifully packaged USB drive and a thick stack of documents.
Upon seeing the pile of documents, Julian’s body stiffened, thinking Clara brought some irrelevant items to cause trouble.
He was about to hide them away but was seized by Serena Sullivan beside him.
"What’s this?!" Serena cried out, flipping through the pages rapidly with excitement.
But in the next moment, her expression froze.
