After Prison I Rushed into Marriage with a Comatose Tycoon-Chapter 99: Emmett Knows How to Tattle
"What? Your classmate dared to say that to you!" Master Lockwood was furious.
Emmett Lockwood said, "Great-Grandpa, don’t be angry. I’m not upset anymore, because Mommy already taught them a lesson for me. But Mommy was a little wrong, too. She saw them call over so many security guards, but instead of leaving, she just focused on protecting me. She was being too careless with her own safety."
Emmett sighed, his little face filled with lingering fear. "Great-Grandpa, you have no idea. If Mommy wasn’t so quick on her feet, we wouldn’t have made it back yesterday. We wouldn’t have been able to see you again."
He then looked at Florence Young. "Second Grandma, I also have to thank your nephew. The guys he called were pretty pathetic, otherwise Mommy and I really wouldn’t have made it back. But there’s one thing he should be more careful about. He’s not the general manager of the Lockwood Group, he’s the general manager of a subsidiary. So when he’s out, he should probably make that clear to avoid any misunderstandings. Great-Grandpa, don’t you think I’m right?"
As Emmett spoke, he flashed a brilliant smile.
Master Lockwood patted Emmett’s little head and said with a smile, "Yes, you’re absolutely right. My Emmett is all grown up and so sensible. Come on, join Great-Grandpa for dinner. You all come, too."
Master Lockwood’s invitation was for Eliza and the others. The Second Madam, Florence Young, was completely ignored.
Florence Young, however, was thick-skinned enough to follow them, only to be stopped by the butler.
Butler Lockwood said, "The Second Madam, Master Lockwood asks you to wait here."
Florence Young had no choice but to wait, listening to the sounds of cheerful laughter from the dining room. Her heart felt like it was being stabbed, and she nearly ground her teeth to dust.
After waiting for about an hour, Butler Lockwood finally came to inform her that Master Lockwood would see her now.
Florence Young walked into the sunroom on stiff legs and saw Master Lockwood sitting in a chair, drinking tea.
"Dad..."
"Kneel!" Master Lockwood commanded sharply.
Startled, Florence Young immediately knelt. She forced a smile. "Dad, what’s wrong? Why are you suddenly so angry?"
"You don’t know why I’m angry?" Master Lockwood’s face was dark. "Didn’t you claim it was Eliza who called Shane to give your nephew a beating? But what was the truth? It was your ’brilliant’ nephew who called people to beat up Emmett! If Eliza hadn’t protected him yesterday, who knows what condition they would have left my great-grandson in!"
Florence Young said, "Dad, you can’t just take a little boy’s word for it and condemn me. Maybe Eliza and Shane coached him beforehand."
"Insolent!" Master Lockwood roared. "Are you calling me old and senile?"
"I wouldn’t dare! Dad, how could I? This... this is all a misunderstanding."
Seeing Florence Young still trying to argue her way out of it, Master Lockwood could no longer contain his fury. He grabbed a stack of photos and threw them at her. "Then take a good look and see if *this* is a misunderstanding!"
Florence Young picked up the photos. They were all pictures of Sean Zimmerman bullying Emmett Lockwood, including shots of the conflict at the amusement park from the day before.
The color drained from Florence Young’s face. She quickly said, "Dad, I really didn’t know. I was deceived, too."
She had always resented the main branch of the family. As soon as she heard her nephew had been bullied by Shane Lockwood and thrown in jail, she flew into a rage. Without bothering to ask for details, she had stormed over to the main residence to demand that Shane give her an explanation.
Florence Young was filled with regret. ’If only I hadn’t stuck my neck out for this.’
"You weren’t deceived. You thought you had some dirt on Shane and came running here to tattle! If I hadn’t thrown these photos in your face today, I bet you’d still have a million excuses ready!"
"H-how could that be?" Florence Young quickly denied.
"My son’s wife, I don’t care what you’re thinking, but I’ll tell you this: you married into the Lockwood family. You are a Lockwood daughter-in-law, and you must put the Lockwoods first in all things. If you can’t even understand that simple fact, then divorce my son and go back to the Young family!"
Florence Young’s face went pale. "Dad, please don’t say that. I’ve always remembered that I’m a Lockwood daughter-in-law. This was my fault. I was careless, but only because I was so angry. Please, I’ve been a part of this family for so many years, and I gave you Fabian. For their sake, please forgive me just this once!"
At the mention of Fabian Lockwood, the expression on Master Lockwood’s face finally softened. "Go home and live your life properly. If there is a next time, don’t blame me for casting the second branch out of the Lockwood family!"
Florence Young breathed a sigh of relief, thanked him profusely, and left the main residence.
The moment she stepped outside, the subservient smile vanished from her face, replaced by a look of pure malice.
She glanced back at the main residence, bustling with servants, then took out her phone and made a call.
"When exactly are we making a move? I can’t wait any longer!"
...
Eva Monroe wasn’t feeling well and had been hospitalized, so a worried Eliza Sutton went to visit her.
As she was walking down the hallway, she unexpectedly ran into Amelia Sutton and Sean Hughes.
Amelia Sutton was desperately clutching Sean Hughes’s arm, pleading, "Sean, it wasn’t me! I really didn’t do it! I don’t know how Sherry Caldwell miscarried her baby."
"You’re still denying it? I saw it on the security footage! You pushed Sherry! You shoved her down the stairs!"
"No! We did get into a shoving match, but I’m not that strong. I barely pushed her! She fell on purpose to frame me! It’s true, you have to believe me!"
"Shut up!" Sean Hughes snapped, his patience worn thin. His face was cold as he said, "Amelia Sutton, you’ve gone too far! Sherry is in this state because of you, and you’re still making excuses! I’m so disappointed. How could a petty, vicious woman like you ever be my wife? When I get home, I’m telling my parents we need to reconsider this engagement!"
"No! Sean, we’ve been together for so many years! You can’t do this to me, you really can’t!" Amelia Sutton pleaded, but Sean Hughes was unmoved.
Sean Hughes gave a cold order. "Watch her. Don’t let her take a single step into that room."
With that, Sean Hughes returned to the hospital room.
Amelia Sutton immediately tried to follow but was blocked by the bodyguards at the door.
"Let me pass! I need to get in there! I need to see Sean!"
The bodyguard said impassively, "The Young Master said he doesn’t want to see you, Miss Sutton. You know his temper. Please don’t make this difficult for us."
"Just go ask him again! Sean wouldn’t be this cruel to me!"
But no matter how much Amelia Sutton pleaded, the bodyguards refused to let her pass.
Amelia Sutton’s shoulders slumped in dejected helplessness.
But when she turned her head, she saw Eliza Sutton standing nearby.
"Eliza Sutton!"
Amelia Sutton charged toward Eliza Sutton, her face contorted with resentment. "It was you! This was all your plan! You’re just trying to ruin my engagement to Sean, aren’t you!"
