An Extra's POV: My Three Fiancees Hate Me-Chapter 170: A night together
Chapter 170: A night together
Quin sat on the deck of the flying ship, a holographic display in front of him, showing the students. It switched from person to person—twenty different screens.
He hummed a tune as he watched all of them, and then after a while, it switched to Riven and Sofia’s fight.
He was a bit surprised when he saw the crocodile, as that type of beast was set as one that couldn’t be seen by students easily. It stayed hidden and away unless they did something to wake it up.
"Seems those two managed to get a special beast to wake up," Richard said as he approached from behind.
"Yup, and they seem to be dealing with it well," Quin replied.
"So what about that tomorrow? We told them beasts, but are you really going with the beasts, or do you have something else in mind?" Richard asked.
"I do—Demonized. Many of them are traumatized by what happened, and they have a deep-rooted fear of the demonized, so they’ll have to tackle it tomorrow to gather points," Quin said.
"Hmm, isn’t that a bit too much?" Richard asked.
"It might be, it might not, but sooner or later, they will all be forced into war against the demonized. Being scared of the enemy is as simple as killing yourself, and so we have to strike out that fear by force," Quin said. He turned his attention back to the battle that was happening.
Riven baited the crocodile toward him. It rushed in rage and got into the range of Sofia’s attack. A magical circle formed in the sky, and another blast of lightning struck it.
The crocodile was stunned for a moment. Riven used that opportunity and attacked, rushing forward at top speed, his feet kicking the ground very quickly. He leaped into the air and slashed down.
The crocodile tried to use its tail to attack, but he twisted in the air and dodged the tail before using Flame Blast.
The attack slammed into the back, and an explosion followed, ripping the back open by force. Then Riven thrust with all his strength. It penetrated into its back through the opening and deep into its body, killing it.
He stood on the body of the crocodile, his chest heaving up and down. He looked at Sofia, and she was also out of breath.
"This makes up for the last time," he said.
She didn’t respond. She smiled at him. After the crocodile exploded into light, they both walked back to the pond, dipping their feet inside and enjoying the cool of the water.
They watched the stars together, too tired to hunt anymore and too tired to start going to the cabin. They simply sat there and watched. After a while, she lay down on the ground and fell asleep, her feet still in the water.
Riven felt like it was unsafe, so when she was fast asleep, he carried her up from the pond and found a clearing nearby. He took out some sheets and a blanket from his ring and placed it on the ground and laid her there. Then he sat down beside her, his back leaned against a rock.
He watched her as she slept—her delicate and innocent face, her pale skin, and beautiful white hair. She looked like an angel.
He leaned in close to her, a small smile on his face. "You know, you are quite nice to be around," he said.
Mumble.
She began saying something under her breath, and Riven immediately sat up and looked away. But after that, she stopped talking and returned to sleep.
He looked at her and heaved a sigh of relief. "She was sleep talking, thank goodness," he said and then got up and walked toward the pond.
After Riven walked away, Sofia’s eyes opened. She stared at him for a while, a soft smile formed on her face, and she closed her eyes, drifting into sleep.
A few hours passed, and the sun rose on the forest. Riven had been awake the whole night making sure that Sofia was safe and no beast came this way.
He sat close to her, looking at the pond. Soon, her eyes flickered open, and the first thing she saw was him sitting there.
’Did he stay awake all night? Why?’ she wondered. She sat up, yawned, then stretched her hands. ’It couldn’t be because of me, right? Why would he stay up all night and watch over me?’ she questioned.
She had never had anyone that watched over her or cared for her, so this seemed abnormal and completely out of place. Yet for some reason, she deeply loved the fact that he did that for her.
"You are awake," Riven spoke. He turned around and faced her.
"Yeah, and you don’t seem like you slept," she said.
"Don’t worry about me, I’m fine," he said, standing up. But she could see the slight bags under his eyes and the fatigue in his every movement.
"You need to rest," she said, and then got on her knees. She tapped her thighs, signalling that he should come and lie there.
"The ground is really hard. You should rest your head here," she said.
Riven looked at her. "Huh? Huh? Huuuuuuhhhhhh? No no no, don’t worry, I’m fine, I swear. There’s no way I can do that," he said, waving his hands.
She pouted. "Why not?" she asked.
Riven opened his mouth to speak but didn’t find anything to say.
"I just can’t do it," he said and started backing away. She frowned and got up.
"Come here." She rushed at him full speed, and Riven immediately started running.
"I don’t want to!" he yelled, but she didn’t stop. She chased him down and tackled him to the ground. They rolled on the ground for a few meters. She struggled to suppress him, but he kept pushing her off.
Then suddenly, they heard a ruffle in the bushes. They stopped and looked at the bushes. Something was coming.
