Angel Monarch-Chapter 431: The War for Antarctica (1)
Chapter 431: The War for Antarctica (1)
The last portal opened, and the final attendants of the gathering arrived. Lucy and Will stepped through the portal and entered the conference room in Antarctica.
They glanced around at the people gathering inside the large room. Everyone from the other outposts arrived when Vicky ordered them back.
Most of them, namely Lucy and Leslie, wanted to arrive sooner. They were furious when Henry informed about Bea’s successful rescue.
Bea was their longtime friend, so not involving them in the rescue didn’t sit well with them. However, they were both glad everything worked out, even without their help.
Before addressing the Princess, Lucy walked up to Bea and tearfully hugged the magnificent woman. They didn’t need to exchange any words to convey every emotion they were feeling.
The moment lasted a few long seconds, but eventually, Henry cleared his throat nearby, reminding both of the situation’s urgency.
He looked at all his friends and allies. There were about forty people gathered inside the large conference room. From that, ten of them were from Antarctica, five generals and five Stellars, each clad in war gear.
The Antarcticans stood out from the rest, since they were all tall with extremely pale skin and brightly colored hairs.
They towered above everyone except Yannick, Yvonne, and, of course, Astrid. The giantess would never lose to anyone in height!
From the Angelic Order, Cass came as their only Stellar, but the others weren’t any less weak. They were just steps away from Ranking up, however; they needed to find specific monsters to Evolve with.
Lucy could easily fight even against Stellars. She could also kill them with her scythe. Same went for Joan, whose lightning could fry entire armies and Kim, who could turn even Stellars into statues.
The Antarcticans didn’t make any complaint, when all these Transcended appeared. The Stellars weren’t the haughty kind, which made everyone’s job much easier.
"Sorry for the late notice everyone, but the intel came in less than an hour ago. I don’t think anyone needs an introduction to the situation, so let’s get straight into planning..."
The forty soldiers turned towards Henry with serious expressions. His young age didn’t cause anyone to pay less attention to his words.
The Antarctican Stellars heard a few of the Prince’s speeches, which never sounded like a fifteen-year-old’s words. They all respected him for stepping up as an entire continent’s leader with the Princess.
When nobody said anything, Henry continued with the introduction.
"A week ago, we’ve discovered the Asian’s main base in Antarctica. Sadly, they worked quickly and escaped our clutches. Afterward, we looked all over the continent, but couldn’t find their other bases. However..."
The Prince glanced and nodded towards James, who immediately typed on his watch. Light appeared all over the large round table, and soon a 3D map of Antarctica formed from it.
Markers also appeared all over the map. Ten large blue glowing circles, and ten similarly large red circles.
Everyone recognized the blue circles’ placement. They were all ten of Antarctica’s city-states, which meant the red ones marked the enemy armies approaching the cities!
"An hour ago, scans showed large enemy forces moving towards the cities. They all came through portals, but somehow, even our scanners could pick up the portal openings. That doesn’t matter for now, though..."
Suddenly, the map split into ten closeup shots of the different armies, moving towards the settlements.
Antarctica had ten settlements, each containing 10 to 20 million citizens, with its capital housing 30 million. Altogether, Antarctica had around 200 million people.
The approaching armies knew this information, too. Each army had enough soldiers to destroy their target city.
"During this week, Bea and Mary managed to put upgraded Aegis Shields connected with Trees of Light, on four city-states, including the capital. We’ll mostly ignore these four, and focus on the other six..."
On the map, four armies disappeared, and the pictures of the other six became enhanced.
"We’ve six Stellars at our disposal, so each of our attacking group will have one. Other than the four Stellars, we need to determine where everyone else goes. Each city-state has enough Evolved, Ascended and Transcended to defend it. Our job is to take out any powerful enemies!"
Under a few minutes, they quickly put together each group, making sure the most powerful members would attack different armies.
Like always, everyone planned on Vicky staying behind. Her ability’s logistical property was simply too useful and would be wasted on the frontlines.
However, the past week changed Vicky in many ways. After realizing how badly she treated her supposed friends, she couldn’t bear watching everyone go to war while she’s sitting at the sidelines.
"I’m going too, and before anyone attacks, I have a plan to break some of the enemy’s morale. I don’t want to massacre millions of people without giving them a chance to surrender. I’m sure many will take my generous offer!"
Henry and everyone else wanted to object, but after hearing Vicky’s plan in detail, they couldn’t refuse. They grabbed at any chance of reducing the death count of this war! freёweɓnovel_com
"Fine, we’ll go with Vicky’s plan. However, after the initial attack, you’ll come back here with me! Logistics is our biggest advantage, so we should use it!"
Vicky nodded at her partner’s words. She then stepped away from the table and opened six portals around herself.
Each portal opened to one of the six armies. They marched through the frozen, dark plains, wind hitting them from the sides or front strongly.
Many Evolved transformed since their other form had fur or thicker skin, which could better withstand the cold. All six armies came to a screeching halt, though, when Vicky’s portal appeared in the sky.
The young Princess smiled down at her enemies. She raised her arms and spoke to the masses with pride, her voice full of authority.
"Armies of Asia! I’m Princess Victoria, the acting leader of the Angelic Order! Many of you already heard of me, but none of you truly know me! I’m a person who lives by a single motto: ’Only kill when necessary’!"
Two daggers appeared in both of Vicky’s hands, and a creepy, tiny grin grew on her face. The child-like, beautiful face, in combination with her fearless white eyes, sent shivers down everyone’s spine.
"I give all of you a chance to surrender before the battle starts! I know some of you don’t wish to fight, so anyone ready to surrender kneel before me!"
The weak-willed soldiers immediately fell to their knees, but about ninety-five percent stayed standing.
However, Vicky saw the looks in many soldiers’ eyes. They just needed a little push for their morale to fully crumble.
"Okay, I understand! You need a little motivation!"
The grin widened on Vicky’s face as the daggers multiplied. Each hand held three daggers, and she tossed one in every portal.
The daggers flew straight towards the millions of soldiers. The people at the front began scrambling their defense, however, the dagger flew away above them.
Its blade glowed with dark blue and black energy, and suddenly it cut open reality, leaving behind a thick line, which resembled the night sky.
Upon reaching the end of the army, the dagger entered a small portal, and suddenly thousands of daggers flew from the thick line.
Each weapon flew into the crowd of soldiers. Screams and shouts of terror rose, but the daggers weren’t aiming at any vital parts of their bodies. Instead, they simply left a cut on the left side of everyone’s cheek.
Strangely, even Transcended regeneration couldn’t heal the wound. The healers who can restore limbs were also useless at healing the simple-looking cut.
When the millions of soldiers were all got cut on their cheeks, the daggers puffed away into star-like specks of light. Through the stunned silence, Vicky’s giggle echoed, bringing everyone’s attention back to her.
"I’m a Merciful Princess! This is your second and last chance at surrender! Anyone who disagrees with their leadership’s command, stay exactly where you are! If you come any closer to the Antarctican city-states, you won’t make it home!... We’ll guarantee it!"
Her grin turned even creepier and, while waving with one hand, she slowly closed each portal. Afterward, many more people knelt down, until nearly half of each army deserted.
Back in the conference room, Vicky took a deep breath of cold air. She couldn’t hold herself any longer and soon she found herself facing the ceiling.
"Are you okay?" Asked Henry’s concerned voice, while cushioning her small body.
The young Princess chuckled and tried to stand, but her body didn’t listen to her commands. After a few seconds of struggling, she simply let go and stayed in Henry’s firm arms.
"I’m fine. That move, summoning so many daggers at once, it consumed most of my essence... I’ll be fine in a minute. They won’t attack for a few minutes at least. Their leaders have to decide the approach after the mass desertion, so that gives us more time to plan!"
Everyone stayed speechless, either because of her words or from the previous display of incredible fighting prowess. Even her Aunt Cass wasn’t expecting such power from a mere Transcended.
However, the most shocked were the Antarctican Stellars and generals. One man, with an exceptionally serious expression, stepped forward.
He bowed from the neck, while addressing the Princess as respectfully as he could.
"Princess Victoria. I might sound rude, but we’re curious... Your attack could’ve easily destroyed most of their forces, so why did you settle with a mere cut on their cheek?"
The young Princess smiled up at the tall Stellar. His question was valid, since the fighting and potential loss of Antarctican soldier and civilian life all wouldn’t have happened.
However, Vicky didn’t think of the Asian soldiers as enemies needed to be exterminated. By saving Antarctican lives, she would’ve sacrificed Asian ones. She wanted the least people to die, and a scare tactic was the most effective option!
"I didn’t lie about my motto. I despise killing even my enemies, so I decided to save as many as I could... Also, I hope you won’t kill anyone who tried to surrender during the upcoming the fight... Only kill when necessary!"
The Antarcticans all nodded, somewhat agreeing with her statement. Luckily, they never really had to fight against other humans, so killing fellow survivors of the Apocalypse didn’t sit right with them.
While Vicky recovered in Henry’s arms, the others talked through the plan a bit longer. After a few minutes passed though, their preparation time ran out!
On the map, they saw the new, smaller armies move towards the city-states.
With Henry’s help, Vicky climbed on her feet and while standing on wobbly legs, she opened six portals, each leading towards the cities.
The Stellars and the chosen Transcended all stepped through...
The War for Antarctica began!
