Angel Monarch-Chapter 436: The War for Antarctica (6)
Chapter 436: The War for Antarctica (6)
Slayer’s blood-red robe flapped in the strong wind, yet the hood stayed motionless on his face, only revealing his creepy grin.
Xinya and Chang both stood by his side, each one covered in a layer of soot and dust. They glanced around at the chaos, searching for the Princess.
High in the sky, the Stellars of Antarctica fought against the four remaining Masters. It was a losing battle, since their essence was already nearly exhausted, but retreat wasn’t an option.
A few stronger Transcended also took to the sky. Namely, Lucy, Yannick, Astrid, and Leslie were the only ones who can fly and fight against Stellars.
Joan and Kim could’ve also helped, but they couldn’t fly. Bea was also strong enough and wouldn’t easily lose against stronger opponents, but she would’ve never left her daughter alone in such a dreadful situation.
The Princess didn’t even glance at the battle above. Her eyes stayed solely focused on Xinya.
The enemy armies kept pouring in through her portals. They needed to either knock out or kill her, and all those portals would close!
Henry and Bea had the same realization. The three of them moved perfectly without saying a word.
Xinya and Chang both raised their weapons in anticipation, while Slayer simply looked surprised.
He killed six Stellars during his lifetime, yet he never seen someone run at him with as much determination as those three... They must’ve been either strong or stupid!
The anticipation was killing him! Locked in a cage for 90000 years, he couldn’t remember his last fight! It’s been so long that excitement began overwhelming him!
As Vicky’s trio closed in, they all simultaneously chose opponents. Vicky ran against Xinya, Henry against Chang, and Bea against Slayer.
The Princess could counter Xinya with relative ease, while Henry could handle Chang’s bullets without issue. For Slayer, Bea’s versatility and extreme regeneration were the best counter.
They didn’t know the creepy man’s abilities, but they all felt danger emanating from his mere presence!
The other trio also noticed their pattern of attack. Xinya didn’t want to engage them separately, but before she could’ve said anything, both Chang and Slayer ran off.
Unlike those two, she fought against all three opponents. Other than Slayer, neither she nor Chang had any chance to defeat them.
Xinya wasn’t even certain Slayer could take out Bea. His enemies mostly rely on their abilities, but Bea’s unmatched martial prowess wasn’t something Slayer usually encounters.
Lightning struck nearby and gradually the wind became more powerful. It moved in a circular pattern all across the battlefield, which meant Sarah finally arrived too!
The wind turned the raindrops sideways, and raised dust particles from the ground, vastly reducing visibility.
Each trio lost sight of their allies. Through the wind and rain, the sound of gunfire echoed as Chang fought against Henry. From somewhere else, Slayer’s joyous laughter also reached Xinya’s ears.
However, the Asian woman’s eyes stayed focused on her own opponent.
In front of her, Vicky summoned a pair of long daggers. She let her dress stayed close to her body, but it didn’t envelop her completely. There was no point, since Xinya’s sword can cut through portals with ease.
Both Xinya and the Princess raised their weapons and ran at each other. About two dozen meters separated them, and they used the distance to their advantage.
Xinya cut through reality, while Vicky opened a portal before herself. They both jumped through and their blades met a kilometer above the ground.
The Princess parried Xinya’s sword and delivered a kick to her body. Gravity took hold, and they began free-falling. However, a second later, they teleported once again.
This time, they stood atop a tower, above all the chaos and destruction. The constant lightning illuminated everything, while the strong winds and dust air plunged brought down an artificial veil on the world.
Vicky blocked the dao with both daggers, then summoned a third and sent it flying towards Xinya’s leg, trying to immobilize her.
The madwoman let go of her sword’s handle with one hand. She reached forward and caught the approaching dagger’s handle with her empty palm.
Vicky used the moment and pushed Xinya with her full physical strength. Sadly, even though she was a Transcended, her body was still a child’s. Her powerful push barely phased Xinya’s one-handed hold.
However, the Princess never meant to overpower her opponent. Instead, she used the small push to guide the sword away. She then ducked under the weapon and stabbed forward with her daggers.
Xinya’s dao was too far. She tried to use Vicky’s dagger, which she caught, but before it could connect, the Princess dismissed the weapon, dissolving it into specks of light.
There was nothing stopping Vicky to finish the fight... Nothing but the chaos of an active battlefield...
The lone tower suddenly shook and began leaning to one side. Neither Vicky nor Xinya lose their footing, yet the moment of confusion halted the imminent attack.
The Princess jumped back while Xinya pushed forward. With her face contorted in anger, she slashed horizontally with her beautiful curved blade.
Vicky didn’t even try to block or parry. Instead, she leaned away from the slash and tried closing the distance.
Xinya attacked again with a piercing stab, which Vicky evaded with ease. However, the Asian woman twisted her blade and changed the slash into an upward slash, while taking a step forward.
There was no way to dodge the sword, so Vicky raised her daggers and tried to block it. Her defense quickly crumbled, though, and the tip of Xinya’s dao connected with her chin, cutting a line across her lips and nose.
She yelped in pain and jumped back again. Before Xinya could’ve followed, the tower shook once more, and slowly began falling.
Blood dripped from Vicky’s chin as a portal opened below her feet. Xinya cut with her weapon and opened a portal as well.
They teleported far above the battlefield, even above the Stellars’ fight. The air was thin as they fell towards the ground, so they needed to hold their breaths, which wasn’t a problem for any Transcended.
Their weapons clashed. Sparks flew into the air, igniting the surrounding darkness. The power pushed them away, but this time Vicky didn’t teleport.
Hundreds of daggers appeared around her, and she sent them all flying towards Xinya from different angles.
Xinya’s blade glowed dark blue, and she slashed forward once. An invisible bubble appeared around her, which cut all the daggers’ handles, breaking them into particles of light.
Vicky used Xinya’s momentary confusion, and she teleported behind her. The bubble slashed at her flesh, but she ignored all the superficial cuts and stabbed down with her daggers.
Blood dripped from her body as hundreds of minor cuts appeared all across her skin. The wound on her chin still didn’t fully heal, which meant the cuts partially blocked her regeneration.
Luckily, they were deep enough to cut tendons or muscles, so her movements stayed uninterrupted.
Her daggers moved, but they only damaged the Asian woman’s clothing. Just when they would’ve pierced her skin, Xinya slashed forward and teleported a hundred meters away.
The Princess quickly teleported after her. They both raised their weapons and parried each other’s blows near perfectly.
Their freefall continued and soon the air became breathable again. They fell terminal velocity, towards the storm clouds below.
The sound of Stellars fighting echoed, drowning out the constant thunder. Arcs of lightning danced around within the storm, illuminating the fight between the Princess and Xinya.
They kept teleporting and parrying the other’s attacks, while continuing to fall towards the ground far below.
The explosive sounds got louder the closer they got to the storm clouds, but neither cared nor reacted. They only concentrated on their opponent’s next move.
Suddenly, Vicky burst forth, delivering a dozen quick cuts and stabs, which Xinya parried with ease. She moved in a clear pattern that was easily followed by the Asian woman.
However, after a few seconds, when Vicky stabbed forward for the hundredth time, a small portal opened before her dagger. It came out right below Xinya, so she couldn’t dodge it.
Her dark blue eyes widened upon seeing the Princess’s maneuver. At the last moment, she raised her sword sideways, blocking the dagger... Or at least it should’ve...
Vicky’s dagger gently glowed, resembling the eternal night sky. The starry blade passed through Xinya’s dao and nearly penetrated her stomach. But she pushed away from the broken weapon, saving herself.
The Princess cursed under her breath and quickly attacked the defenseless Xinya. However, just when Vicky prepared to stab her in the leg, another dao appeared in Xinya’s scabbard.
She drew the blade fast and parried Vicky’s blow with relative ease.
For a moment, Vicky stared at the falling woman in confusion. She believed Xinya only had one sword, but it seemed her assumption was incorrect. It seemed her scabbard could summon any number of weapons!
A small groan escaped the Princess’s lips. Her job just gotten much harder!
With each attack, she never aimed for Xinya’s vital organs or head. She also didn’t use the Universal Blade’s—Her dagger’s—ethereal form, which let her pierce through anything.
Vicky could’ve killed Xinya dozens of times during their fight, but deep down, she wanted to save her. She didn’t want to make Lin an orphan.
Even though she barely knows the child, both Lydia and Thea vouched for him. They explained his past, which broke Vicky’s heart.
However, she looked at the situation objectively, and after talking with Kathy, she realized that there was more to this strange, abusive family. It didn’t seem right to take away Lin’s mother, when she might’ve also suffered just as much as her son.
She decided not to kill Xinya, and so Vicky used all her power to try immobilizing and knocking her out!
